A Letter from the President

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support of Northwest Youth Corps. This year marks our 30th anniversary of helping youth to learn, grow, and experience success. We have come a long way since that summer in 1984, when 52 intrepid teens laced up their boots, put on hard hats, and headed out for an incredible adventure. During this journey, NYC has benefitted more than 17,000 young people, and the lands and communities where they have served.

Our growth during these three decades has come from partnerships and investments from resource management agencies, foundations, corporations, and individual donors. Their commitment has helped thousands of young people to develop the assets needed to skillfully address the challenges of the future.

Together, we are providing highly effective programs with real world outcomes for our youth and our natural resources. As you read through this annual report, please consider investing in Northwest Youth Corps by sponsoring a project, making a donation, or helping us spread the word about our efforts to help develop the Leaders of the 21st Century.

Thank you,

Erik JensenPresident of the Board

We learned how to build a bridge, a project we completed on the last day and that made for a perfect ending to an overall wonderful session.

Leadership for the 21st Century

NYC is committed to helping youth and young

adults learn, grow, and experience success. Each

participant graduates from our program better

prepared to thrive in an increasingly changing

world.

Today: NYC participants make a real

difference in our communities, by doing the hard

work of stewardship. Working in partnership

with public land managers, they improve trails,

restore lands, and create cleaner, healthier

watersheds.

The Future: The environmental, social, and

political challenges of the future will require

leaders who can work as a team no matter how

great the task. NYC empowers young people

to recognize that they can make a significant

difference in their own lives and the lives of

others.

Tomorrow: The solid job skills, experience,

references, and perseverance participants learn

at NYC increases their ability to complete their

educations, enter the workforce, and become

leaders.

Gifts and Grants

We couldn’t do it without you!Every year our generous donors make it possible for NYC to serve youth.

We want to recognize - with our special thanks - the community members, alumni, parents, foundations, businesses, and agencies for the important role they play in NYC’s growth and development. Thank you for helping us help youth achieve success.

Tuition Assistance Endowment

NYC’s Tuition Assistance Endowment was established through a gift made by Steve Stewart in memory of his mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Stewart. The Endowment (managed by the Oregon Community Foundation) grows through the ongoing support of our alumni and community donors. Named funds include: Campbell Group Fund, Datalogic Fund, Krist Anderson Fund, Scott Foremny Fund, Straub Family Fund, and Wyss Foundation Fund.

NYC sincerely appreciates the generosity of all our donors. The donors listed above made cash or in-kind gifts or grants totaling $50 or more in the latest fiscal year ending 8/31/13. We apologize for any oversight in listing donors. Please contact our office to update our records
