How does it work?

Step 1. Complete the Application Pack with your family details,

references and preferred program start date. The completed

application pack together with the Registration fee should be returned

by mail or email to AIFS.

Step 2. Once the reference checks are completed, AIFS will send you

an Au Pair’s profile matched according to your family’s requirements.

The Au Pair will receive your family’s profile in preparation for a

telephone/Skype interview.

Step 3. The telephone/Skype interview is arranged so you and the

Au Pair may speak directly with each other about your requirements.

Upon completion of the telephone interview you may either select

the applicant or choose to re-enter our selection pool.

Step 4. If you select the Au Pair, a start date is finalised and AIFS will

confirm your Au Pair’s placement. This is when the Second Payment is due.

Before your au pairs ‘arrival we encourage you to correspond with your Au

Pair which will help her to prepare for her placement with your family.

Step 5. The Au Pair arrives in Sydney and attends our 2 day orientation.

This orientation is designed to give the Au Pair more tools to help her

prepare for her placement and life in Australia. After the orientation, the

Au Pair is ready to commence her placement with your family.

AIFS Au Pair in Australia is a program offered by the American Institute

for Foreign Study (AIFS), one of the world’s largest cultural exchange

organisations. Founded in 1964, the American Institute for Foreign

Study and its family of companies organise cultural exchange

programs throughout the world for more than 55,000 students and

young people each year with more than 5,000 participating on a

program into or out of Australia. AIFS host families’ rest easy knowing

they are applying with an international leader in cultural exchange and

with many years experience.

What is Au Pair in Australia?

AIFS Au Pair in Australia is a 6-month program placing European Au

Pairs with Australian families to care for their children. It is an enriching

program that offers the benefits of cultural exchange to a family whilst

providing an Au Pair with extensive experience caring for children.

Unique to AIFS Au Pair in Australia is our rigorous screening process

prior to their Au Pair’s arrival in Australia. You can rest assured that your

au pair has the experience and skills to fully care for your children.

Affordable Childcare With a growing demand for child care, AIFS Au Pair in Australia is a

cost effective solution. On average a childcare facility will charge

between $65-$100 per day. AIFS Au Pair in Australia host families pay

a stipend of no more than AUD $200-300 per week depending on their

weekly working hours and childcare experience.
