'That the Rates of Postage to places be-yond the Territory, as published in Gaz-ette No. 14 of the 3rd December, 1930, and Gazette No. 10 of the 5th August, 1931, be altered as follows:-

1. By the imposition on and after the tenth day of December, 1941, of a War postage charge of one halfpenny in addition to the normal postage whatever that may be on all postal articles posted in the Territory to a des-tination beyond the Territory except the fol-lowing:-

(a) ,Postal articles to and from Members of the Forces at home or abroad to which the special reduced rate of postage applies.

(b) Parcels transmitted by parcels post.

(c) Air Mail articles to places beyond the Commonwealth other than New Zealand and New Guinea.

(d) Articles exempt from postage.

2. On and after the above-mentioned date the following amended rates of postage will apply to postal articles to places beyond the Commonwealth (these rates do not include the war postage charge) :-

TABLE OF AIR MAIL CHARGES.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICES.

The air mail charges set out in this table cover the postage as well as the air mail fee. The charges shown under the heading of "Letters, etc." apply to all articles except post cards, viz. Letters, Commercial Papers, Printed Matter, Samples and Small Packets. Information as to the charges on articles addressed to a country not mentioned in this. table will be supplied on applicatio-ri.'a:t -the General Post Office.

The air mail charge covers transmission over all 'air mail services in Australia necessarily used in the conveyance of the article· to the pOint- of connection with the Empire Air Mail Service or the Trans-TlUIman Air Service, as the case may be. If, however, transmission by air within the Commonwealth is desired in respect of an article. to be forwarded from Australia to U.S.A. by sea for onward trans-mission by air, the internal air mail fee (3d. per half-ounce) must al~o be paid.

AIR MAIL ARTICLES FOR MEMBERS OF THE - FORCES ABROAD.

The following special rates apply to air mail articles posted for transmission. by the Empire Air Mail Service to members of the Commonwealth Forces serving abroad or to members of the Naval, Military or Air Forces of· another country of the British Empire:- .

NOTICE MADE UNDER THE POST AND TELE-GRAPH ORDINANCE. 1912-.1941. NOTIFY-ING THE DENOMINATIONS OF POSTAL NOTES AND RA1'ES O~l POUNDAGE.

General Post Office, Port Moresby, 15th June, 1926.

NOTICE.(l)

The General Public are hereby notified that, commencing with the 1st August next, the following denominations in Postal Notes will be introduced :-

Six shillings and Eleven shillings, on which the Poundage charge-able will be Twopence and Threepence respectively. The present Six-pence and Ten shillings and sixpence values will be withdrawn from circulation. .

Rates of Poundage to take effect as from the 1st August will be as follows:- .
