The 2013-2014 school year offers more opportunities than ever for our staff to develop and hone their skills, through both individual educational opportunities—with financial support from the school board—and through regular professional development. Nearly 70% of the school leaders, teachers and support staff now possess or are pursuing master’s degrees (or second master’s or doctorates in many cases) and even more have expressed interest in doing so. Additionally, membership in the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) has allowed us the opportunity to take part in the best professional development networks in Asia. In short, Wells International School can lay claim to one of the most well-trained, passionate and dedicated staff bodies in Bangkok. As we look toward the future, our goals include raising the number of teachers with master’s degrees to 90%; ensuring that all teachers not only possess their teaching licenses in Thailand, but are also licensable in their home countries; and continuing to develop our own school campus as a hub for teaching training in Bangkok.
