As Malala Yousafzai has said, “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” These words so aptly summarize who and what we are about at Crayons to Computers. Changing the lives of the children we serve, directly impacting their capacity to be successful in school and beyond, and supporting the teachers who teach them is at the heart of the work we do. At Crayons to Computers we know that a pen or a pencil or a box of crayons can change the trajectory of a child’s life.
The City of Cincinnati has the second highest child poverty rate in the country. More than 100,000 children throughout Greater Cincinnati go to bed each night unsure of where their next meal might come from. More than 130,000 children attending Preschool through Grade 12 currently do not have the tools they need to complete their classwork. It is Crayons to Computers that is bridging the gap for these children – our community’s children. We are partnering with hundreds of schools and thousands of teachers to put the necessary resources and supplies into the hands of the kids who need them.
With the generous support of our donors and partners we are making significant strides in ensuring that our youngest students have the supplies needed to be ready to learn and ready to read when they enter kindergarten. We are working to ensure that our elementary school students have the necessary tools they need to be proficient readers by the third grade, know their math facts and are well on their way to being creative writers. For our older students – our middle and high school students – we are focused on providing materials that support learning in science, math, the arts and also the basics.
With your help, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of more than 130,000 school age children in Greater Cincinnati. One child and one pencil translates into unlimited potential.
Thank you for your continued support.

DEAR FRIENDS OF CRAYONS TO COMPUTERS,
UNMATCHED PROGRESS. UNLIMITED POTENTIAL
What better way for an educator to GIVE BACK than to help other
teachers provide the needed supplies and resources for less advantaged
students. I understand THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A PENCIL ,
a pen, a notebook, or a backpack in the learning experience.”
GAIL LOESER RETIRED EDUCATOR, Volunteer since 2012
Each and every day our students are faced with many academic and social
challenges. CRAYONS TO COMPUTERS uses a practical and integrated
approach where schools, schools districts, and communities are working
together for the benefit of students throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.
Crayons to Computers has been very instrumental in helping our school
become a community learning center that ENABLES OUR CHILDREN
TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL as students and productive
citizens in the community.”
Thank you for the supplies you give us, from the notebooks to the glue, etc.
Thank you, because without your supplies we wouldn’t be learning how to
be responsible for our things. I appreciate that there are people out there
who would do such things. I thank you because these are the things that can
CHANGE A PERSON’S EDUCATION AND LIFE.

WE SHARE in the joy and challenges that teachers face each
day as they do the amazing work of educating students in our
community. Teachers often tell heart-wrenching and personal
stories from their classrooms. Once a teacher has shopped with
us, when they return, they tell us a better story. A NEW STORY
ABOUT THE CONFIDENCE, SENSE OF BELONGING, OR JUST
PLAIN FUN that happened in their classroom WITH ITEMS
RECEIVED FROM CRAYONS. Thank you for your support to
make this happen.”
