Blocking units:Each individual blocking unit is made up of “pigs” and pads. The “pig” is constructed with a high strength 1/4” steel plate, double welded for maximum strength and durability. Both types of mats are available in standard or bifold design. The bifold design contains two foam pieces instead of one large foam piece as in the standard mat. Mat covers are sewn with a “hinge” which permits the mat to be folded, requiring less storage space. All mats have triple stitched handles.

2013 NCAA Softball Rule Changes

Section 2.1- A backstop is required. It should be a minimum distance of 25 feet and a maximum distance of 30 feet from home plate. It is recommended that the backstop be vertical and not extend over the playing field. When the backstop is wood, cement or brick, it is strongly recommended that it be padded from dugout to dugout beginning no higher than 1 foot off the ground and extending to the top of the wood, cement or brick or 6 feet from the ground, whichever is shorter. Padding is required by the 2016 season.
