Facility Member (FM)Allows full use of the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCAs, including all membership benefits. Members also receive free or reduced pricing on programs.

Program Member (PM)Participants who enroll in individual YMCA programs (swim lessons, basketball, etc.) without being a Facility Member.

Refund PolicyFor YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

CHILD CAREParents Night OutHey Parents! Enjoy a night out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3 to 12 will participate in fun activities, games, and crafts. A fun snack and drink will be provided. Children must be potty-trained. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Space is limited so please register by the Wednesday prior to the event.

EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIPAcademic EnrichmentHalf-Day Preschool EnrichmentWe provide an opportunity for children 3-5 years of age to participate in a half-day preschool programs. Teachers will provide hands-on experience for your child while developing basic social and academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May and follow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuition is paid monthly and is due the first day of each month. Space is limited. Currently registering for the 2012-2013 school year. Our classes begin the week of September 3.

Safe SitterWould you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Safe Sitters will learn all these things and more! Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitting preparation program for boys and girls 11-13 years of age. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Students need to bring their own lunch. Manual is included.

ARTS AND HUMANITIESExpress Yourself Art Classes for KidsThis summer we will focus primarily on painting. During the first session, we will learn about the artist Georgia O’Keeffe, using different watercolor techniques, and creating a large scale painting. In the second session, we will focus on creating portraits. We will make one major self-portrait while weaving in small portraits inspired by ancient to contemporary art.

Spanish for KidsChildren will learn phrases as well as colors, numbers, and the alphabet from enthusiastic tutors from USI’s Modern and Classical Languages Department. Children will also learn about Spanish culture and have a fiesta at the end of each session to celebrate what they have learned! Classes will be fun and effective for every child!

Homeschool SpanishThe downtown YMCA will now be offering weekly Spanish classes to homeschool students. These classes will utilize supplemental resources for extra practice, interactive lessons on the computer, homework, quizzes and tests for better retention. These classes will be comparable to a University style curriculum.

Riptides Swim TeamOn the YMCA swim team, everyone is a champion. The emphasis is on having fun and doing one’s best. The team is open to all children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice. A free trial period is available for those kids who want to try the team for a week.

Youth Basketball LeagueShoot some hoops this summer with the Summer Youth Basketball League. This recreational basketball league is for boys and girls ages 5-12. Team sizes will be limited to ensure each participant receives plenty of playing time.

Y CheerleadingCheerleading is now at the Y! Cheerleading offers the opportunity for kids to develop self reliance and self confidence on an individual level while stressing the importance of teamwork within the squad. Cheerleaders will learn basic skills, chants, cheers, jumps and experience the performance aspect of cheerleading as cheer at the Youth Basketball games.

GymnasticsParent-Tot GymnasticsThis program is designed to introduce gymnastics to children ages 18 months - 3 years old. Children will learn basic gymnastics skills and should wear comfortable clothing. A parent must accompany each child to class.

Private/Semi Private Swim InstructionPrivate swim instruction is available for those children who feel a one-on-one lesson with an instructor is preferred. Lessons are designed to give participants individualized attention in order to improve or master their swimming skills. Call to set up specific times and days.

YMCA Camp Carson - Resident/Overnight CampDon’t miss out on the best overnight summer camp experience in the tristate!Camp Carson is just 40 minutes north of Evansville and has week-long overnight camps for all ages. Camp builds character and confidence and lifelong friendships through a week of horseback riding, dirt-bikes, archery, canoeing, pottery, water-zip-lines and much more!

Soccer CampThis week will combine regular camp activities with daily soccer training from our international soccer coaches and players to ensure a fun learning experience.

INdependence Diabetes CampAll the fun of a week of traditional summer camp while learning more about living with Type 1 Diabetes. This week will look and sound like our traditional camps. As an added benefit, campers will be living with a group of peers where dealing with diabetes is the norm, where everyone is concerned about nutrition, exercise, blood sugar, AND having fun at camp. Thanks to the generosity of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, the cost of this camp has been greatly underwritten by his foundation.

Bringing Magic To Families Coping With Cancer We are pleased to announce a partnership with Camp Kesem – Indiana University. Camp Kesem is college student-run summer camp for kids with a parent who has (had) cancer. The camp is provided free of charge to all of its campers. The Student Outdoor Experience This camp educates the next generation and gives them the life skills they need to be great role models and leaders. British Soccer CampChallenger Sports’ British Soccer Camps provide young players of all abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts right in the heart of their own community. Campers will be exposed to individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games and scrimmages. Soccer skills are coached within a framework of character development based on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship. Youth Wellness OrientationAll YMCA members ages 12 – 13 must complete this orientation class to use the Dunigan Family YMCA Wellness Center. The orientation will provide information such as proper use of equipment, safety and how exercise affects the body. The participant will also learn how to set up a fitness program and use the cardiovascular and weight training equipment with proper technique.
