J/111 is one of the most successful global J Boat launchesever. And with good reason.....this boat flies. J/111’srecent successes sailing offshore attest to the J philoso-phy that more speed with fewer crew often leads tosilverware, too. Class wins in the Chicago-Mackinac Race,Around Island Race (Isle of Wight),Spinnaker Cup, Key West Race Week,Warsash Spring Series and a classsweep of the Bayview-Mackinac Racepoint to the J/111’s versatility, whethersailing in demanding upwind, down-wind or reaching conditions.

Owners are quick to remark about theJ/111’s ability to accelerate and sail close to the windspeed in light air, and how quick it planes at double-digitspeeds when the wind pipes up. Said one owner, “thisboat had the fun meter pegged in the ‘red’ all of Sundayafternoon on the Chicago-Mac. We had three consecutivedrivers hit 18+ kts in 20-24 kts TWS and in full control. The boat just likes to go fast with none of the dramawe’ve dealt with on previous boats.”

With a mainsail on slides and a furling jib, one can besailing in minutes, and a crew of two can set, jibe anddrop the asymmetrical spinnaker. The seakindly hull withhigh righting moment and an efficient sail plan (nogenoas), make the J/111 the most versatile high perfor-

mance boat on the market – ableto be sailed by a pick-up crew inthe evening beer-can race ordouble-handed to Bermuda.

J/111 is the next generation one-design that fits the J Boats formulafor one-design success...a boat thatis easily sailed FAST and confidently

by just about anyone in the family. The icingon the cake is the comfortable sit-incockpit and spacious interior withstanding (6') headroom. Sailboatsthat are easy and fun to sail are sailedmore often. The J/111 is a boat thatwill bring great joy to its owners formany years to come.

Bob BitchinWant to know what it’s like sailing the Caribbean? Well, join Latitudes & Attitudes founder Bob Bitchin and his wife Jody on a circum-navigation of this portion of the Big Blue Ball we call Earth. As would be expected, this is no ordinary look at this part of the world. It is the slightly cockeyed view from the decks of Lost Soul, as they cruised the West Indies and all the favored ports of these great cruising grounds. Funny and never boring, this is a must if you plan on sailing the Caribbean, or just need a good laugh!
