You helped give children a stable foundation and a chance to heal. When children have a permanent home and a forever family, their chances for success in life increase dramatically.

You helped provide a path for children to move from at-risk to at-home. In 2012, with your support, 70 children from foster care joined an Amara adoptive family. And 40 siblings joined an adoptive family with their brother or sister.

You provided critical support for foster and adoptive families. Thank you for investing in Amara’s efforts to find, educate, prepare and support more families to adopt children from foster care.

Nicholas is Thriving

Each year, Amara recognizes extraordinary foster parents in our community with the Stella Mae Carmichael Award. In 2012, we honored Nicholas’ parents, Heidi and Randy.

When Nicholas came to live with Heidi and Randy, he was almost three. He couldn’t talk. He couldn’t jump. He was medically fragile and had developmental delays.

Today, Nicholas is thriving. After three years of speech therapy, he is on track and talking up a storm. And he’s climbing, swimming, and jumping in puddles!

Thanks to dedicated parents, more children like Nicholas are able to heal and grow in a home filled with stability and love.
