inspection & Maintenance

Regular inspection and mainte-nance of your inflatable PFD will ensure it is ready to go when you need it most.

the best way to inspect your inflat-able is to orally inflate it through the oral inflation tube found by open-ing up the left side of the PFD. let the PFD sit overnight to make sure it retains all of the air. In the morn-ing, release the air, check the CO2 cylinder for corrosion and punctures and make sure the C02 cylinder is securely fit into the inflator.

Ifyouhaveabobbin-activatedauto-matic inflatable PFD, you should also check the expiry date on the bobbin. People boating in humid or wet conditions should change their bobbin regularly to prevent inadver-tent inflation.

With everything in good condition, youcannowre-packyourPFDandhead safely out to sea.

the best vest for your child is the one that fits them. a vest that is too big may come off in the water and a vest that is too small may not provide adequate flotation.

the right fit for your kidthe easiest way to test this is to put the vest on your child, secure all zippers and buckles and tighten all belts. Once this is done, put your fingers underneath the shoulder straps and pull upwards. If the vest starts to slide over the child’s face or head, it means the vest is too big and could slip off in the water.

alternatively, if you were unable to secure the zippers and buckles, it is time to move up to the next size. With the fitting process complete, you and your family can take to the water wearing the highest quality products on the market.

science of cold water survivalHow long a person can survive in cold water depends on the water’s temperature, exposure time, and the thermal insulation of the vic-tim’s protective clothing.
