The view rom the plane be ore landing to Vantaa airport was spectacular; all the buildings were covered with thick white snow. I welcomedby sunshine but -14C.

The class size is around 15 to 25 students, depending on the course. Each course is delivered in intensive mode; every Monday,Wednesday, Friday evenings and Saturday over two weeks. In general, the workload is lesser compared to Adelaides. There are plenty oin-class activities on each session such as group discussion and presentation, which are part o the course evaluation. Final exam can beeither in-class exam or take home assignment.Di erent with other semester exchange, Aalto MBA exchange program is only or eight weeks (two courses), anytime throughout the year. There ore there is no proper orientation program, but their MBA coordinators are very riendly and help ul. My peers also had been veryhelp ul in helping me to settling down especially or the reezing weather (coldest two weeks in February were -18C to -28C).

There are many activities to warm you up during winter - skiing, ice hockey, downhill and snowboarding. Avantouinti (swimming in an icehole) is a un and exciting experience. Basically people will go or hot sauna irst, ollowed by a quick dip (5 seconds to 2 minutes) in an icehole. It relaxes and re reshes the body while improving stress tolerance levels.

I ound Finns are pretty shy at the beginning, but they can soon become your good riends once the ice is broken. You have to take initiativeto speak to them irst. Although English is widely spoken in Helsinki, it would be handy i you picked up some simple Finnish, particularly insupermarket, where majority o the ood labels are in Finnish and Swedish.

I would advise to get a sim card (~ 18) at the airport (check roaming or your mobile provider; i.e. Voda one has no roaming in Finland)and remember to change your credit card/debit cards contact mobile number to your new number, otherwise you may ace problem whenusing credit card or online purchase. Credit card is widely accepted in Finland, even or small amount like 3.

Appreciated the Aalto International Student Service managed to get me a shared apartment in the city within very short notice, which savedlot o transportation cost. Sharing a lat with other younger exchange students rom Germany, Brazil and America has been memorable. Wehad lot o house parties, cooking and travelling together.

Lunch at university ca eteria is only cost about 2-4, but youll need a local student ID. Eating out can be expensive, easily 10-20 or ameal in decent restaurants. However, there are many restaurants serve bu et lunch or 8-15 during weekdays. Amongst supermarkets:S-Market, Prisma, K-Market, Lidl; Lidl o ers the cheapest price but with limited varieties.

Helsinki is a strategic location i you want to travel. Porvoo, Finland second oldest town is only an hour by bus. Tallinn, Estonia is a must godestination, just three hours by erries. My most un orgettable journey was taking St Peterline to St Petersburg, Russia. Owing to the rozensea condition, the erry took additional nine hours, made it to 21 hours to reach St Petersburg rom Helsinki. I ound the management was

airly poor in managing this expected crisis. As this is the only way to travel to Russia without a Visa, be prepared or some delay i youwere travelling during winter.
