Germany ITINERARY DAY 1, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27 Begin Our Journey
Depart on our flight to Germany or connect to Berlin from a CA Pre-Tour.
DAY 2, THURSDAY, JUNE 28 Arrivals— Exploring BerlinInternational arrivals at Berlin airport and train station. Upon arrival, convention participants will be met by Ayelet Tours representatives and local hosts for assistance. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and a chance to freshen up. An orientation tour of Berlin will be offered to those arriving early, beginning with a drive through the former West Berlin. Pass by the Charlottenburg Palace. Experience the Kurfurstendamm, home to some of Berlin’s high-end shops. View the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, destroyed during WWII. Continue to New Berlin, where we learn about the renewal and rebuilding of this area that used to be known as “No Man’s Land.” Pass by the Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate, and the German Parliament. View the new Central Station, Checkpoint Charlie, Museums Island and the East Side Gallery, a remnant of the Berlin Wall that now serves as an international memorial.
Evening transfers from the hotel to the opening lecture by Professor Stephen Berk. Next, we enjoy the opening ceremony and concert, including a meaningful Mincha/Ma’ariv Service. Overnight Berlin.
DAY 3, FRIDAY, JUNE 29 History in PotsdamBreakfast. This morning we will depart from Berlin for a full day tour of Potsdam, Berlin’s sister-city. Enroute, we cross the Glienicke Bridge, a famous exchange point for Soviet spies during the days of the Cold War. In Potsdam we view the stunning Sanssouci Palace and Gardens, built by Frederick the Great. Continue to Cecilienhof Palace, site of the famous 1945 meeting between Truman, Churchill and Stalin. Walk to the University of Potsdam to see the Geiger College, home of the new Cantorial and Rabbinical School.
Shabbat services together will be an unprecedented experience. Enjoy Shabbat dinner at the Maritim Hotel Ballroom. Overnight Berlin.
DAY 4, SATURDAY, JUNE 30 Shabbat Shalom!Breakfast. This morning we hold services at the New Synagogue, a historic synagogue that survived the 1938 pogroms but was partially destroyed by bombing in 1943. A permanent exhibition details the history of the synagogue’s rebuilding, begun in 1988. Here we honor women cantors and rabbis in the same place where the first woman rabbi was ordained (1935). This afternoon we will enjoy meetings and study sessions with members of the Berlin Jewish community in different locations throughout Berlin. Local walking tours will be offered in the late afternoon. Dinner on own. Enjoy a special evening lecture by Professor Stephen Berk at the Jewish Museum, followed by a unique Havdallah service celebrating Ashkenazi, Hassidic and Sephardic traditions. Overnight Berlin.
DAY 5, SUNDAY, JULY 1 Berlin in DepthBreakfast. City tours of Berlin are offered this morning, with specialized tracks for participants. This afternoon we will
participate in a special interfaith gathering and concert. Special guests will include the President of Germany and other official dignitaries (pending confirmation). Enjoy a lecture by Professor Berk, followed by an evening at leisure. Luggage will be collected late tonight for transfer to Munich. Overnight Berlin.
DAY 6, MONDAY, JULY 2 Berlin to Munich Breakfast. This morning we transfer to the airport for our group flights to Munich. Upon arrival, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Munich en route to our hotels. This afternoon we enjoy a special ceremony at Olympic Park, honoring the memory of the eleven Israelis that were assassinated during the 1972 Olympic Games. Special guests will include nine time Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Spitz and other honored dignitaries. Enjoy a lecture by Professor Berk followed by a special dinner and concert at the renowned Jewish Community Center in Munich. Overnight Munich.
DAY 7, TUESDAY, JULY 3 The Horrors of Dachau Breakfast. Early morning departure to Dachau. Here we will visit the former concentration camp and participate in a special ceremony. The memorial site today houses a museum, archive and library. It was opened in 1965 as a place of learning on the 20th anniversary of the camp’s liberation. Participate in an afternoon tour of Munich, exploring the major landmarks of the city. Enjoy a lecture by

DAY 8, WEDNESDAY, JULY 4 Optional Excursion to Salzburg, Austria
Breakfast. Day at leisure for on own exploration OR Choose to enjoy an optional day excursion to Salzburg, Austria. The tour will include major city highlights including the Salzburg Cathedral, the St. Peter’s Abbey, the Hohensalzburg Fortress, and Mozart Square, dominated by the statue of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Return to Munich this afternoon, where we have time to refresh before participating in a celebratory Fourth of July Concert. Overnight in Munich.
DAY 9, THURSDAY, JULY 5 DepartureTransfers from our hotel for our flights to Israel, home or another exciting destination!

DAY 1, THURSDAY, JULY 5 Welcome to Israel!Arrival in Tel Aviv at Ben Gurion Airport. Meeting and assistance by our Ayelet representative. Transfer to Jerusalem. We stop atop Mt. Scopus for a special ‘Shehekianu!’ blessing as we overlook the City of Gold. Check into our hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Jerusalem.
DAY 2, FRIDAY, JULY 6 Exploring JerusalemBreakfast. Split up on our various Track Touring Options:
TRACK 1: Darkness to Light: Participate in a visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial and Museum, where the many moving exhibitions honor the memory of those who perished at the hands of the Nazis. Memorials visited include the Hall of Names and
the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations. We visit the gravesites of Theodor Herzl, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin and many other Israeli dignitaries at the Har Herzl Cemetery. Continue to the Herzl Museum, where we learn about the life and work of the great Zionist dignitary. Continue to Machane Yehuda and see the people of Jerusalem busily preparing for the approaching Shabbat.
TRACK 2: Israel Museum: The Israel museum recently completed a $100 Million renovation, and the resulting museum is world class in every way. Our visit to the Israel Museum will start at the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are preserved and displayed, along with many other ancient artifacts. We view the fascinating Model of Jerusalem as it stood during the time of the Second Temple, recreated in stunning detail. Continue our visit to the Israel Museum – showcasing everything from classic and renaissance art, to modern and pop installations. We give special focus to the Judaica exhibitions and the special exhibitions on display. The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Wing for Jewish Art and Life presents the religious artwork of Jewish communities worldwide, with works dating from the Middle Ages to the present. Continue to Machane Yehuda and see the people of Jerusalem busily preparing for the approaching Shabbat.
TRACK 3: A Border or a Fence: Enjoy a panoramic view from the Haas Promenade to learn about the current security and border issues in Israel, in general and specifically in Jerusalem, as we view the widely discussed security fence. We visit the Museum on the Seam, built along the 1967 border splitting east and west Jerusalem, where socio-political exhibitions communicate ideas of peace and co-existence. Continue to Machane Yehuda and see the people of Jerusalem busily preparing for the approaching Shabbat.
We welcome Shabbat as a group on the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount as one extended family. Enjoy Shabbat dinner together at beautiful Blaustein Hall, overlooking the Tower of David and the Old City Walls. Overnight Jerusalem.
DAY 3, SATURDAY, JULY 7 Shabbat Shalom!Breakfast. Shabbat Shalom! Morning Shabbat services at the Hirsch Auditorium. We enjoy Shabbat lunch together at Beit Shmuel. This afternoon we split up on our various walking tour tracks:
TRACK 1: The Old City: Visit the Museum of the History of Jerusalem at the Tower of David, the Arab Shuk/bazaar, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Christian Quarter, Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall and Mt. Zion before we return to our hotel.
TRACK 2: Nachlaot neighborhood and Haneviim Street: Walk through these two unique neighborhoods and learn about the history of Jerusalem through the prism of the many varied communities that have settled here from around the world. Free time to relax. Havdalah as a group overlooking the Old City from Montefiores Windmill in Yemin Moshe. Overnight Jerusalem.
DAY 4, SUNDAY, JULY 8 Current Events Updateand Track Touring
Breakfast. Israel politics and affairs briefing by Gil Hoffman, chief political correspondent for the Jerusalem Post. Split up on our various Track Touring Options:

TRACK 1: Ir David (City of David) and the Jewish Quarter: Explore the archeological wonder at the cornerstones of Jerusalem at Ir David, the original City of David. Relive King David’s conquest of Jerusalem over 3,000 years ago, as we discover the amazing new excavations and the ingenious water system. Continue inside the Old City walls to visit the Burnt House, destroyed a month after the Second Temple fell, for an audio-visual presentation with fascinating details about the ancient days of Jerusalem. Here we discover life as it was lived during the time of the Second Temple. We also visit the Herodian Mansions and learn about the lifestyles of the wealthiest Jerusalemites over 2,000 years ago. We visit the ancient Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem’s Old City, which recently underwent an extensive reconstruction.
TRACK 2: Masada and the Dead Sea: Depart Jerusalem as we travel south and descend to the lowest place on Earth - the Dead Sea. From here we ascend Masada by cable car to the legendary mountain fortress, once a luxurious palace built by Herod the Great and later the last stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. We explore the unique remains including the bathhouse, water cisterns, storerooms and the synagogue. Later we have a chance to swim (float) in the mineral rich Dead Sea.
TRACK 3: Behind the Green Line: We travel south past Bethlehem through the tunnels out of Jerusalem. Visit Gush Etzion and its museum and see the way that Gush was during Israel’s War of Independence, and how it stands today. Continue to Efrat, a city located in the West Bank, and meet with residents and hear about their way of life, philosophy, and the challenges of living on some of the most controversial real estate in the world.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. This evening there is a special Cantorial Concert celebrating the people of Jerusalem. Overnight Jerusalem.
DAY 5, MONDAY, JULY 9 Track TouringBreakfast. Depart Jerusalem and split up on our various Track Touring Options:
TRACK 1: Sderot and the Eshkol Region: We depart south and visit Sderot. Meet with Mayor David Buskila at a local school and hear about the area’s recent development and future projects. Drive along the Gaza border and meet soldiers stationed there. We proceed to a high-tech farm, where we meet with a representative to learn about the technical advances in farming.
TRACK 2: The Greening of Israel: As we depart Jerusalem we stop in a JNF Forest for a special tree planting, connecting us physically to the Land of Israel. Continue with a visit to a Nesher Factory, Israel’s only producer of concrete, where we learn about how this company is transforming itself in order to be more environmentally friendly.Next we visit the Hiriyah Garbage Dump, which is being transformed into the Ayalon Park in one of Israel’s most ambitious recycling projects.We end our day with a visit to high tech car energy developer A Better Place, where we learn about Israel’s development of the “green” car of the future. This afternoon, we check into our hotel in Tel Aviv. For those participants who did not join a touring track today, there will be a bus available to transfer from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv at 12 noon. Overnight Tel Aviv .
DAY 6, TUESDAY, JULY 10 Free Day Breakfast. Free day in Tel Aviv for relaxing and shopping.This evening we enjoy a farewell dinner and Cantorial Concert.Overnight Tel Aviv.
DAY 7, WEDNESDAY, JULY 11 DeparturesBreakfast. Transfer to the airport to meet our flight home, or join aCA Post Tour.

Departure taxes and fuel surcharges, any border taxes or visas, tips to guides, driver and dining room waiters ($15.00 per person per day, pre-collected), travel insurance (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) or items of a personal nature.
Pricing is based on 1 Euro = $1.35 $1.45. Fluctuations in foreign exchange rates will affect final pricing. Itineraries are subject to change.
CANCELLATION POLICY: $100 per person charged if cancelled once booked, plus any applicable airline penalties. $200 per person charged if can-celed 120-61 days before departure, plus any airline penalties. $350 per person charged if cancelled 60-31 days before departure, plus any applicable airline penalties. 100% penalties apply if cancelled 30 days or less before departure. REFUND POLICY: Refunds for cancellations received more than 3 months prior to group departure will take a minimum of four weeks to be proc-essed. Refunds for cancellations received less than 3 months prior to group departure will not be processed until after the group returns.
