Breast Cancer has be-
come an epidemic in the African
American community. We at The
Viking Voice Newsletter strongly
support the walkers and survivors
as we celebrate the Susan G.
Komen Race for the Cure on Satur-
day.
By. Se’Nia Robinson
As the month of Octo-
ber approaches us, we see lots of
PINK! October is known as Breast
Cancer awareness month. As we
walk and cheer on those who
have survived breast cancer and
those we have lost, lets encour-
age all women starting at the age
of 15 to do a breast self-
examination. Not only do women
have to check
themselves,
but men as
well. Men
and women
alike can be
diagnosed
with breast cancer. So, get checked out!
On October 20, 2012 in Bir-
mingham, AL at Linn Park, many women
and men will walk to support the survi-
vors and lost loved ones.

The week homecom-
ing was cancelled and all
through the school, there were
Huffman High School students
that broke the rules. Tensions
were high, spirits were filled,
but all at the risk of home-
coming being killed.
Teachers preached
rules about good conduct and
all, but the verbal walls of
these rules would soon all
fall. Through pushing, shov-
ing and running through the
halls, hall monitors barked
out commands with no time
to stall. The question of control
got the teachers amped. They
(the teachers) fought back with
a vengeance and became the
overall champs. No one could
tell about the day to come, but
we knew there would be more
from where that was from.
They made their way
throughout the day, but
what was to come no one
could say. From principal,
teacher and student alike,
they were all there to wit-
ness change take flight.
The following day
there was a new atmos-
phere with nothing but a
pen drop to hear. The cur-
rent day triggered a plan to
deal with the student prob-
lem at hand. “What was
the plan?” some may say.
We would all find out dur-
ing that day. The plan con-
sisted of silence and walk-
ing straight to class and no
one could be caught with-
out a hall pass. This all seemed
a bit too much, but kept the
school’s order in touch.
Many may feel like
the school’s rules were harsh
and mean, but it was set up for
our slate to be clean. You see,
without the pushing, shoving
and running through the halls
the festivities of homecom-
ing would soon all call. Our
best behavior was greatly
needed, and our acts of good
character would certainly
treat it. During this time
homecoming seemed rare,
and the chances of us hav-
ing it would be by a hair.
The homecoming
woes seemed great throughout,
but many of us hoped for a
great turn out. Whether the
dream of that week all seemed
trampled, all of this happened
the year homecoming was can-
celled.

When on the Red Carpet as we all
know fashion is a must. As Red Carpet season
approaches us, we begin to see some of the
latest Fab Fashions. The most popular things
out at this moment would have to be Levis for
the fellas and boot cut jeans for the ladies. As
women of course we love something with a little
curve and flare. Levis have a wonderful selec-
tion for men and women. As fall approaches us
boots are a wonderful selection to keep your feet
warm and also adds style to your outfit. Fall
fashion is the best time to show off your great
fall accessories such as, scarves, hats, gloves, and
earmuffs. Fall is the time to show of your greatest
fall fashions so even you can feel like a Red Carpet
star!

Dear Cupcake Babii Pink,
As the old saying goes , “To have a friend,
you must show yourself friendly. So, be
friendly and most of all be yourself.
V
Dear Vikki,
I recently had my arms bitten off by my pet dino-
saur, and wanted to know if I should try to re-
trieve them or not.
Sincerely,
Jurassic Park
Dear Jurassic Park,
You don’t need arms, just go get some limbs that
have fallen out of the trees and tie them to your
body. Also, you can use the arms off of an old
walking doll. You won’t be able to bend your
hands, but you could do a mean pop lock!
V
Dear Vikki,
My so called boyfriend downs me everyday.
Cupcake Babii Pink
Dear Cupcake Babii Pink,
In my Tamar Braxton voice, “Girl you betta
get yo’ life!” It doesn’t sound as if he likes
you. Because when you like someone, you
shower them with compliments. Drop that
none factor! Find someone that matters.
V
Dear Vikki,
How do you become Popular at Huffman
High?

Laying in my bed, thinking bout my life
A lot on my mind but not a future wife
They say I have talent, they say I have skills
Well I found out what is fantasy from real
Maybe not guess I'll never know
He told me if I loved I would never let go
But those are no the words a wise man says
Those are the words of his jealous brother instead
Cause’ if you truly loved something you wouldn’t it
leave
You would fight and cry, plead on your knees
But still with her pride, her head is held high
I ain't even tripping cause she’s the one that cried
Don’t know feeling of this or if it's even really inside
Maybe the whole time I loved you I was just asleep
Having a dream pretending we had what I wanted
It's dirty how you sat there and watched as I was
taunted

one another, but can we at least be civi-
lized and have peace? Being civilized and
having peace would really save many
more lives.
In conclusion, stop, listen, and
pay close attention. Bullying is a crime so
stay out of trouble and let’s save our fami-
ly’s lives.
By. Dewanna Curtis &
Tariah Bolick-Gross
Why do people bully? This is a
question often asked. Teens are usually
the issue with bullying. Most of them feel
that they don’t have anyone to talk to.
Some reasons why teens may
bully are because of lack of empathy, envy
(jealousy), low self-esteem, household
issues, and just because they think it’s
funny. Bullies often are the ones that got
tortured or picked on when they were
younger. Bullies feel as if intimidating
others will ease their mind. Bullying is
like a drug to the harasser, it’s addictive.
Last but not least I wish bully-
ing would stop. We’re losing our family
members and friends. Bullying is a seri-
ous issue that passes from generation to
generation. We don’t have to deal with

If you got them all correct then that’s your
bff!
If you got half of them correct, then you
need to step your game up. What kind of
friend are you?
If you didn’t get any correct, You may be a

second touchdown. The crowd
went wild! The Vikings are full of hope know-
ing that the whole school is behind them eve-
ry step of the way. As the game comes to a
close, the Vikings trampled over the Colonels
leading 29 to 12. Seconds away before the
fourth quarter ends, leaving their hearts on
the field, the Vikings take the win. The final
score was 29 to 12 which made the Vikings
the champions of the night. As the song says,
“We are the champions my friends. We’ll keep
on fighting ‘til the end. We are the champions,
no time for losers. We are the champions of the
world.”
By. Monique Myricks
Heartbeats racing, palms
sweaty, the homecoming game is finally
here. Huffman vs. Woodlawn, we all know
that our Viking football team is ready. At
the beginning of the game, during the first
play the Mighty Vikings are already in
attack mode. Leaving Woodlawn to take
notes the coaches already have the game
plan in
mind.
TOUCH-
DOWN!
The first
touchdown
was made
by Dedryck
Carson.
That awe-
some play put the Vikings ahead at 7 to 0.
They played hard, making tackles and
blocking until half-time leading the score-
board 7-6. Running back onto the field, full
of energy, Tevin Beal made the Vikings

A word from the Pastor . . . . .
And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with
power from on high. (Luke 24:49)
Promise is defined as: A binding declaration that gives the person to whom it was made a Right to EXPECT or to
CLAIM performance of a specified act, in other words you have a right to expect something to happen when promised.
Christ left on record before going back to heaven that a PROMISE was coming, he made it clear this promise was not by
him but by his Father. He lets them know where the promise would show up....Jerusalem and all they needed to do was go
there and tarry for it or wait for it.
Some of us have been promised something from God, understand God has to perform what he promised. In other words
your waiting is not something where your sitting idling your time but waiting is having great expectation of some-
thing happening. You are not waiting in vain, the Promise has already been spoken over your life, so in other words,
ITS ALREADY DONE...Be Blessed!
