Vintage Statistics

The 2012 Barrouge has a wonderful blackberry element with hints of sweet vanilla and cocoa. The palate is loaded with dark fruit flavors of black currant and blue berry with hints of plum. The wine finishes with soft elegant tannins and touches of cedar and vanilla derived from the French oak. Enjoy now or many years in the future!!!2012 Harvest Report Napa Valley: “Classic” and “perfect” are just two accolades being bestowed upon the 2012 Napa Valley growing season and harvest. Textbook conditions saw near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set, and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool and often foggy nights during the long summer months.

Rainfall in the winter months was above normal with Calistoga receiving 46 inches of rain. Even though we had plenty of early rain, the spigot turned off in early April prompting early and often irrigation to keep up with the dry conditions. Temperatures cooperated though, allowing us to have a long slow harvest with a great abundance of perfectly ripe grapes, with smooth balance of acids and sugars that provided a broad sweep of opportunities for winemakers to cull only the most select fruit. The vineyards of Napa Valley are intentionally farmed at lower yields bringing only the very best grape to harvest. Growers here, year-in and year-out, bring an average of 4 tons per acre to crush overall, which is consistently half the California statewide average. This is one of the many reasons that Napa Valley wines are so consistent vintage-to-vintage and acclaimed for their high quality in the bottle.

perfumed character. Very well balanced with a long intense and complex finish. Will improve with time in bottle. 2015-2022
