2012 Annual Report
Dear Friends of Good Sports,
In 2012 we celebrated a record year at Good Sports, donating more equipment and impacting
more kids nationwide than ever before. None of this would have been possible without the
incredible support of our partners and our fans who have joined us on our mission to give
every child a chance to play.
In our nine years of supporting youth sports and fitness programs we have seen how
important it is to give our kids the opportunity to be physically active in a structured, safe
environment. We have seen how a youth sports program can transform a community and give
its youth a sense of pride and accomplishment. We have seen how teaching our kids ways to
stay active today provides them with the tools they need to live a healthy, active lifestyle
tomorrow. And most importantly, over the past 9 years we have seen hundreds of thousands
of smiles on the faces of kids who have just received brand new equipment - some for the first
time.
In 2012 alone we donated over $1 million worth of equipment to provide over 147,000 kids
an opportunity to play youth sports. We have made incredible progress over the past year and
we look forward to continue to grow and impact even more kids in the years to come.
Our supporters are the key to our success – we would not be here today without you. Thank
you for your tremendous support and for giving us the opportunity to get more kids in the
game!
Best regards,
Melissa Harper Chief Executive Officer
Our Goal: To ensure every child has the opportunity to participate in youth sports and fitness programs regardless of ability to pay. Time to get ALL kids in the game!

“…our spring cheer helped many of the girls to gain self-confidence and realize the dream of participating on a cheer squad. This program also helped to inspire many of the girls to take control over their personal fitness.” --Metro Athletic Network

Good Sports Equipment Donations By State
“The Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation is so thrilled to have received an equipment donation from Good Sports and the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation. This will allow more underserved youth in our community the opportunity to be exposed to tennis and the character building lessons associated with this sport. Our youth are desperate for physical activity, and with more racquets and portable nets, we can take tennis to them.” --Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation
Good Sports Spotlight
In 2012 the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation and Good Sports partnered o award $110,000 worth of athletic equipment to 34 community organizations working to improve youth fitness, reduce childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for Georgia’s youth. Over the three-year partnership, Good Sports and the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation have donated nearly $300,000 worth of fitness and sports equipment across Georgia.
Getting Kids in the Game with GEICO Promoting Physical Activity with the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation
In 2012 GEICO partnered with Good Sports to donate over $23,000 worth of equipment to organizations in Boston and San Diego, providing 1,700 kids the opportunity to play youth sports. The donated equipment, ranging from football pads to lacrosse sticks to tennis racquets, has enabled the Salesian Boys & Girls Club, South End Titans Youth Football and Gompers Preparatory Academy to expand and improve their sports and fitness programs.
Kicking off a partnership with Good Sports, Riddell Sports, the official helmet provider of the National Football League, donated 1,000 new Riddell Revolution Speed football helmets. This initiative benefited nearly 2,000 youth football players from programs across the country. Good Sports and Riddell hosted an event to unveil 100 football helmets that were donated to the Chicago Youth Sports Organization. During the event, the players were treated to a helmet fitting by Riddell employees.

Chicago Blackhawks and Good Sports teamed up to bring hope to The Hope Institute Learning Academy in Chicago with new fitness and volleyball equipment, along with a new sensory gymnasium. Blackhawks President and CEO John McDonough and Right Wing and 14-year National Hockey League veteran, Jamal Mayers presented the new equipment to the students on behalf of the Blackhawks. This is the third year the Chicago Blackhawks have partnered with Good Sports, benefiting over 1,000 Chicago youth.
Bringing Hope to Chicago Youth with the Blackhawks
Corey Wootton of the Chicago Bears teamed up with Good Sports to donate nearly $13,000 worth of youth football equipment to the Bulldogs Football program in West Englewood, Chicago. Based in one of the poorest areas in Chicago, the Bulldogs football program supports 100 inner-city youth who love playing football but would otherwise not be able to afford to play. Corey visited the Bulldogs to personally hand out cleats, shoulder pads and uniforms to the players. He spoke with the players about the importance of working hard and staying healthy as he shared stories from his journey to the NFL.
More than 250 local youth had a chance to spend time with Celtics players Brandon Bass, Jason Collins and Kris Joseph to celebrate the unveiling of the newly renovated Lynn YMCA basketball court. The Lynn YMCA serves of 1300 youth in the Metro North area and provides social, recreational and educational experiences to strengthening individuals, families and the community. The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation and Good Sports teamed up to complete the $40,000 renovation of the basketball court, the kids’ favorite room in the building. After the players spoke to the kids about the importance of making smart choices and living an active, healthy lifestyle, Celtic’s mascot Lucky the Leprechaun ended the event with a special high-flying slam dunk performance.

“The basketball Jerseys that we received allowed us to give the boys a sense of pride while participating in our program. We were able to get our team logo printed on the jerseys. The children were very excited about being issued an official team jersey. It made them feel as though they were really a part of something worthwhile.” --Life Changing Ministries
