Our goal is to position you for success at the college level

and beyond, for a lifetime of learning and participating in a

Beginning at Orientation, your Academic Advisor will help

you transition into college life. You’ll meet regularly to develop

short- and long-term academic plans, select courses, review

your academic progress and tap into additional resources.

In the Academic resource center (Arc) you’ll find the

programs, peers and professionals to help you hone your

learning skills, improve your writing abilities and turn peer

tutoring into a powerful resource.

The office of Internships and career Development has a

variety of resources to help you in all phases of your career

development, from initial assessments to skill-building workshops

and postings for both internships and, eventually, jobs.

Should further education be in your future, graduate school preparation will help ready you for the GRE, GMAT, MCAT

and LSAT exams, with everything from applications and

timelines to study guides and test prep.

The cardinal cushing library holds over 161,500

print and electronic titles, as well as CDs, DVDs, videos,

reference materials, journal subscriptions, databases and

special collections. The library also houses the Academic computer center.

Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur

In 1919, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, who believe

that education is the greatest work on earth, opened Emmanuel

College to provide an education to those who might otherwise

not have the opportunity to achieve one. Their mission was

clear: Making known God’s goodness…educating for life.

The rigorous intellect, the vibrant faith and the joyful spirit of

this powerful mission are embodied in Sister Janet Eisner, SND,

who first came to Emmanuel as a student. She returned as

a professor, served as the Chair of the English Department

and the Director of Admissions, and now serves as President.

Sister Janet loves the students of Emmanuel College.

But make no mistake, her expectations are high.

This is an education that will make a difference in

your life. In return, it is expected that you will make

Carolyn A. Lynch Institute

In this institute, our personal commitment to provide

urban elementary and secondary school children with

a top-quality education in mathematics, science and

technology is met with a powerful combination of

resources and training for you, their future teacher.

In this innovative teaching laboratory, generously funded by

the Lynch Foundation, we help you become fluent in “smart

classroom” technologies, empower your dedication with

special skills that will help you transform the lives of kids

who sorely need your help, and award scholarships.

Colleges of the Fenway

Six colleges are better than one. Especially when your five

neighbors have the campuses and special areas of study of the

Massachusetts College of Art and Design, the Massachusetts

College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Simmons College,

Wentworth Institute of Technology and Wheelock College.

All of the Colleges of the Fenway are within nine city blocks

from each other.

Together, we share library privileges, cross-register

for each other’s courses, play in our joint orchestra,

compete in intramural sports and more. This is

city life at its best, hanging out with the neighbors.

shoulder to shoulder with faculty is for graduate students,

who fight to be noticed in the sea of students eager for

the privilege of stepping into world-class research labs.

In most colleges, undergrads never see their work in print.

over the world, from Barcelona to Beijing, from a week at spring

break to a summer, a semester or a year. Emmanuel faculty

years. Your new home base has a big green backyard in the

Jean Yawkey Center is your extended living room. It’s your

First-Year Experience

Right from the beginning we help you build a strong academic

foundation and solid personal support for a successful college

career. Our programs are designed to give you the freedom

to explore your passions, the room to try new things and the

skills to succeed. Our people are eager to help you spread

your wings and soar.

Every first-year student takes a first-Year seminar in the

fall. These small working groups will introduce you to the

academic building blocks of a traditional liberal arts and

sciences education. You will hone your ability to read

mindfully, to analyze information, to construct arguments

and to communicate effectively. Your Academic Advisor

will help you settle in academically and chart your course

moving forward.

You will also find a professional resident Director living in

Jean Yawkey Centerfor Community Leadership

We not only believe in community leadership, we make

it work. We develop service opportunities and leadership

skills for our students, while building bridges between

this community and the young people of the city of

Boston through after-school and summer programs.

Funded in part by a major grant from the Yawkey Foundation,

this Center is alive with progress, with programs, cultural

competency seminars, new service-learning courses and

scholarships to keep students involved in the greater community.

Our facilities are top tier. From our NCAA-regulation court

in the Yawkey center gym, with bleacher seating for up to

1,400 fans, to our fully equipped fitness center with views

of the quad, we’re here for your health. Our athletic training

room includes a hydrotherapy area.

And roberto clemente field, featuring NCAA-regulation

synthetic turf and a three-lane rubberized track, hosts softball,

soccer, lacrosse and practice areas for track and field. Track

and field teams also practice at the indoor reggie lewis

Track and Athletic center on Tremont Street.
