Our mission is to prepare students for everlasting life by teaching

them the Catholic faith and traditions, providing opportunities to put their

faith into action, and ensuring a thorough foundation of knowledge for

successful transition into secondary study.

We dedicate this report to five women who have had an immeasurable impact on St. John the Evangelist Catholic School,

Carla DeBord, Mary Jean Griffin, Pay Jackson, Trahlyta Miller and Diane Morris. They dedicated their gifts and talents

ranging from music, artistic flair, organization, encouragement, enrichment, and number crunching to name a few. As

they move into retirement, we know they will carry their talents beyond SJE and light up the world as they lit up our

school. May God bless them.

And he said to them, “Go into the world and spread the good news to the whole creation.”

Mark 16:15

Dear Parents and Friends of St. John School,

It is with a grateful and humble heart I present this Annual Report for the 2012-2013 school year. St. John the Evangelist School possesses a rich legacy of excellence in Catholic education that began in 1954 with the Sisters of Mercy. I can trace the strong foundation of my faith and my quest for academic excellence back to my days as a student here at SJE. From our earliest days to our current years as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, one thing never changes. Christ is always in the center of all we do. This faith-lled environment allows each student to reach his/her full potential body, mind and soul.

In the spring of 2013, SJE received accreditation through Advanc-Ed, the parent company of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The visiting team spoke of the condent leadership abilities of our students as well as the strong Catholic identity that permeated the school. Students spoke eloquently about their faith and their love of St. John School. Additional Advanc-Ed Archdiocesan commendations of Powerful Practices included the following:

• The strong Catholic Identity, integrated throughout all standard areas, articulated the purpose

and direction of the Archdiocese.

• Classroom observations and parent/student interviews repeatedly conrmed the theme of

academic excellence.

• High academic standards are in place requiring active student engagement in the learning

process.

It is afrming when outside eyes conrm and applaud what we see here on a daily basis.

This Annual Report recognizes the generosity of the many supporters of SJE. Many volunteers give countless hours and tireless efforts to help sustain and support the mission of this school. Your nancial contributions help us provide enriching programs and strong faith formation that prepare students for a promising future in this world and the next! May God's blessing be upon each one of you!

Beer act fast! The cap has been reached earlier and earlier

every year as taxpayers are discovering this

wonderful program!

2011- Cap was reached November 11

2012- Cap was reached August 13

2013- Cap increased and reached May 9

In 2008, Archbishop Gregory and Bishop Boland created an SSO, Student Scholarship

Organization, to provide tuition assistance to students seeking the countless benefits

of Catholic education who may not have the means to aend a Catholic School.

Not only would this program provide a Catholic education to students who would

be unable to aend a Catholic School, it wouldn’t cost donors a penny.

This program is GRACE Scholars. This program allows Georgia taxpayers to redirect a portion of their Georgia State income

taxes to create scholarship aid for families with a demonstrated financial need. These donors receive a 100% tax credit while

helping to make Catholic education a reality for worthy students. GRACE Scholars is the only SSO that exclusively serves

Atlanta’s Archdiocesan schools and prides itself on integrity and transparency.

In 2012, these donors redirected over $67,000 to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School providing scholarships that will stay with

the recipients throughout their SJE careers as long as they have a financial need. With most sincere gratitude, we thank all who

have contributed. If you would like to be a part of this wonderful program, please contact us.

Did you know? The state cap for tax redirections

was $58.8 million in 2012. That

sounds like a lot, but GRACE is one

of over 30 SSOs that are after those

same dollars. With your help, we

can make more of those redirection

dollars GRACE Scholar dollars!

Don’t get shut out of 2014! Visit gracescholars.org today so you too can

GRACE a student with a Catholic education.

It’s a one-step process now! Send everything to

GRACE Scholars and they will file it for you!
