BACK TO THE LEAGUE GRIND• Boston University plays its first Hockey East contest in over a month with a trip to North Andover to take on Merrimack. • The Terriers have won five of their last eight contests.• BU has gone to overtime in each of its past two games, rallying for a 3-2 victory against Rensselaer last Friday before falling, 6-5, to Harvard on Wednesday despite holding a 5-2 lead in the third period.• Until Wednesday’s result, BU this season hadn’t lost to an unranked opponent, lost a one-goal game or lost when it led after two periods.

SERIES HISTORY• BU and Merrimack have played 98 times since first meeting on Dec. 11, 1964, and the Terriers hold a com-manding 77-15-6 (.816) advantage.• The Terriers have won the last three meetings and are 23-4-2 against the Warriors since the start of the 2004-05 season.• BU is 25-8-4 (.730) in the 37 meetings at Lawler Arena.• The two teams have battled it out in overtime just seven times, and the first six resulted in a tie before Mer-rimack claimed an overtime triumph last November. BU has recorded all 11 of the shutouts in the series history.• While BU’s longest winning streak was 18 games from 1973-91, Merrimack strung together consecutive wins against the Terriers for the first time ever in 2011.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS• Merrimack is 3-1-2 since the beginning of December after suffering a five-game winless streak (0-4-1).• The Warriors are coming off a 4-1 road win over Vermont last Saturday. They also visited Burlington the previous weekend for the Catamount Cup, where they tied Princeton, 2-2, and lost to Union, 4-1.

• Junior Mike Collins leads the Warriors in goals (9) and assists (12) and ranks tied for third in Hockey East in points (21). Class-mate Jordan Heywood (4g, 6a) and sophomore Connor Toomey (3g, 7a) have added 10 points each.

• In goal, junior Sam Marotta and sophomore Rasmus Tir-ronen have alternated starts all season with very similar results. Marotta holds slim advantages in save percentage (.916 - .912) and goals-against average (2.36 - 2.42).• Mark Dennehy is in his eighth season as head coach at Merrimack and has a record of 96-138-33 at the school.

BACK IN NOVEMBER• Paced by a three-point night from Wade Megan (1g, 2a), BU earned a 3-1 road victory over Merrimack on Nov. 9 at Lawlor Arena.• Second-period goals by Ahti Oksanen and Megan opened the scoring before the Warriors made it a 2-1 contest on a power-play goal early in the third.• Evan Rodriuges added an insurance goal when he pot-ted a rebound with 7:14 left in regulation.• Matt O’Connor improved to a perfect 5-0-0 on the season and matched his career high with a 34-save performance. Classmate Matt Grzelcyk earned the primary assist on both of BU’s last two goals.• Oksanen opened the scoring 1:22 into the second period on a one-timer from the top of the right circle on assists by sophomore Cason Hohmann and Megan.• Megan doubled the lead just over seven minutes later on a wrister from the left circle after getting sprung up the left side on a pass by Grzelcyk.• Merrimack cut the deficit in half in the opening mo-ments of the third on a power-play wrister by John Hef-fernan, but that was the only shot that got by O’Connor.• Merrimack, which got 22 saves from Sam Marotta, held a 35-25 shot advantage.

MAGUIRE ON A ROLL• Freshman Sean Maguire has won his last four starts in goal for the Terriers and has a 0.99 goals-against average and a .963 save percentage during the span• Maguire had a shutout skein of 141:19 come to an end in the first period of the RPI game on Friday. That was the longest by a Terrier since John Curry put together a streak of 144:40 during the 2006-07 season.• He became the first Terrier in program history to record shutouts in each of his first two home starts.• Thanks to a 21-save shutout against St. Law-rence, he was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Nov. 26. He folllowed that up with a 28-save shutout in the first-semester finale against Maine.

WEDNESDAY AT AGGANIS• Connor Morrision scored with 47.2 seconds left in overtime to cap a late four-goal run by visiting Harvard as Boston University dropped a 6-5 con-test on Wednesday evening at Agganis Arena.• The result spoiled a three-point effort by Danny O’Regan, who tallied two goals and an assist in a match-up against his older brother, Tommy, who added a goal and two assists for Harvard.• BU took a 5-2 lead 1:27 into the third on O’Regan’s second marker of the evening, but Har-vard responded with goals from Marshall Everson (6:38), Luke Greiner (8:34) and Colin Blackwell (16:14) to force overtime.• Matt Nieto also had a three-point night, record-ing a goal and two assists for BU, which also got tallies from Wesley Myron and Wade Megan.• BU took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and made it 3-0 in the opening minute of the sec-ond on Megan’s team-best 10th tally of the year.• The visitors climbed back into the contest with goals from O’Regan and Brian Hart before Nieto reestablished a multi-goal lead at 4-2 midway through the middle stanza.• O’Connor made 29 saves for BU, which held a

43-35 shot advantage. Raphael Girard shook off a tough start and turned in a 38-save performance to earn the win in goal.• Harvard scored on two of its three power-play chances in the game while the Terriers went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

HOCKEY EAST HONORS HOHMANN• After leading BU to an overtime victory against Rensselaer, sophomore Cason Hohmann was named the Hockey East Athletic Republic Player of the Week on Monday.• With the Terriers trailing, 2-1, early in the third against the Engineers, Hohmann assisted on Sahir Gill’s game-tying goal before providing the game-winner 2:56 into overtime to push the Terriers to the come-from-behind victory. He finished the game with four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating.• Hohmann currently leads BU in points (18) and assists (13). His plus-18 rating is the best in the country. • It’s the first weekly league honor of Hohmann’s career and he is the third Terrier to be named Player of the Week this season, joining sophomore Evan Rodrigues and freshman Matt O’Connor.

GIVE HIM AN ‘A’• Junior defenseman Garrett Noonan was named an assistant captain for the remainder of the season by head coach Jack Parker on Dec. 14.• Noonan has appeared in 94 career games for the Terriers and has 54 points on 23 goals and 31 assists. This season, the blueliner ranks tied for fourth on the team with 11 points (3g, 8a). • He is the lone junior amongst the team’s group of captains, as captain Wade Megan and assistant captain Ryan Ruikka are both seniors.

TERRIER TIDBITS• BU had a scoreless streak of over two games (127:65) before Ryan Santana scored late in the first period of last Friday’s win over RPI. • The Terriers played nine games against ranked opponents in the 2012 portion of its schedule but

the only current ranked squad on the remainder of their regular-season slate is UMass Lowell (20th in USCHO.com poll).• BU is on a 4-for-47 stretch on its power play, including an 0-for-20 skid that ended on Dec. 1. • Senior Wade Megan appeared in 102 consecutive games before having to sit out last Friday’s game with a shoulder injury. • BU has allowed two or fewer goals in each of its 11 victories this season• Sophomore Cason Hohmann leads all Division I players in plus-minus at +18.• Senior Sean Escobedo has a league-high 49 blocked shots and his d-partner, sophomore Alexx Privitera, ranks second with 43.• Only four players on BU’s roster have more than seven career goals.• BU is 35-0-5 in the last 40 times it has allowed exactly two goals.• The Terriers have gone over 14 months without having one of their games result in a tie. The teams’ last draw occurred on Oct. 28, 2011, at UMass.

BALANCED ATTACK• Remarkably, BU’s last 27 goals have been scored by 15 different players. During one stretch, the team had 14 goals scored by 13 players.• Seventeen of the 21 skaters that have dressed this season have scored at least one goal and 20 of them have at least one point. • Dating back to last season, BU has had 11 dif-ferent players record the game-winner in its last 15 wins. Wade Megan has three during the span and Garrett Noonan and Cason Hohmann have two each.

TOPPING THE TOP-RANKED• BU played three straight games against the top-ranked team in the country and the Terriers won two of them. • After splitting with then-No. 1 Boston College on Nov. 30-Dec. 1 to knock the Eagles out of the top spot, the Terriers posted a 3-2 win at No. 1 New Hampshire on Dec. 6.• It marked the first time BU faced a top-ranked team three straight games since defeating Michi-gan State in a best-of-three series in East Lansing in the 1990 NCAA quarterfinals. • BU is now 3-0-1 over the last four times it has faced a UNH team that was No. 1 in the rankings. • The triumph over the Eagles marked BU’s first win over a No. 1-ranked team since a 4-3 victory over BC at Conte Forum on Jan. 27, 2006.

DYNAMIC DUO• Linemates Cason Hohmann (5g, 13a) and Wade Megan (10g, 6a) rank first and second on the team in scoring with 18 and 16 points, respectively. They have a combined plus-29 rating.• Megan has scored at least one point in 12 games this season and has scored a goal in 10 of his last 16 contests.• This season, Hohmann has already more than doubled his rookie point total (2-6--8).

EARLY PRAISE FOR GRZELCYK• Freshman defenseman Matt Grzelcyk ranks fourth on the team in points with 13 on two goals and 11 assists. He is 16th in the country amongst de-fensemen in points per game at 0.76 and is third in points among Hockey East d-men and fourth among league rookies.• Grzelcyk was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month for November, scoring at least one point in seven of the eight contests in the month and

totaled eight points (2g, 6a) and a plus-4 rating. Both of his goals came against Boston College with the latter being the game-winner on Nov. 30. He added six blocked shots in the month and com-mitted just one penalty over the eight contests.• He is the second Terrier to earn the monthly honor, as goaltender Matt O’Connor was named Co-Rookie of the Month for October. • On Dec. 4, Grzelcyk was named to the prelimi-nary roster for the 2013 U.S. National Junior Team and was also tabbed the Hockey East Rookie of the Month for November.• He ended up being the last player cut for the U.S. National Junior Team, which is currently com-peting at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

FRESHMAN NOTES• All 14 of Danny O’Regan’s points (7g, 7a) have come in the last 16 games. He ranks third among league rookies in scoring.• Freshman defenseman Ahti Oksanen has scored three goals since making his debut on Oct. 26 af-ter sitting out the first two games. The suspension was issued by the NCAA because a professional player played on his team in Finland.• BU has had all nine of its freshmen dress in five contests this season.

RODRIGUES EARNS WEEKLY NOD• After scoring a goal in both ends of a home-and-home split with BC, sophomore Evan Rodrigues was named the Athletic Republic Hockey East Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 3.• After assisting on Garrett Noonan’s goal that opened the scoring on Nov. 30, the winger gave the Terriers a 2-0 lead with a wrister from the right circle off a rush.• Rodrigues finished the scoring in a 5-2 loss at Conte Forum when he contributed his first power-play goal of the season late in the third.• For the season, Rodrigues is seventh on the team in points with 10 on three goals and seven assists.• Rodrigues, who shared the weekly honor with UNH’s Grayson Downing, is the first BU sophomore to earn Hockey East Player of the Week accolades since Chris Connolly back in the 2009-10 season.

O’CONNOR PICKS UP EARLY HONORS• Freshman goaltender Matt O’Connor was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Dec. 10 and the league Co-Rookie of the Week on Nov. 5.• He was also named Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Month for October.• O’Connor won his first five starts to kick off his collegiate career.

D PROVIDING O• Through 18 games, BU’s defensemen have com-bined to record 51 points (13g, 38a). • Junior Garrett Noonan has seven points (2g, 5a) in his last eight games.• During the 2012 portion of last year’s schedule, the Terriers’ defensemen combined to tally 74 points (24g, 50a) in 23 games.• Last season, Noonan ranked tied for first with Wisconsin’s Justin Schultz nationally in goals by a defenseman with 16. That was the most by a BU blueliner since Vic Stanfield put up 16 in 1973-74 and was just one off the school’s NCAA-era record of 17 set by Bob Brown in the 1970-71 season.

ROAD WARRIORS• The Terriers had the best road record in the na-tion last season at 11-4-1 (.719) and already have five road wins this season.• After suffering a 7-1 loss at UMass Lowell last Nov. 5 in the team’s most lopsided defeat in over 12 years, the Terriers won 10 straight games on the road in Hockey East play.• BU joined Maine’s 1992-93 national title team as the only Hockey East squads to win 10 straight conference road games. LOOKING BACK AT 2011-12• Boston University posted a record of 23-15-1 last season and went 17-9-1 (35 pts.) in Hockey East play to finish tied for second in the league standings with UMass Lowell.• BU advanced to the Hockey East semifinals for the 10th time in 11 seasons following a thrilling three-game quarterfinal series with New Hampshire that featured two double-overtime games.• Despite falling to Maine in the Hockey East semifinals, the Terriers earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, where it lost to Minnesota in the NCAA West Regional semifinals.• BU was 3-4-1 back on Nov. 11, but won 20 of its last 31 contests.• The Terriers finished 11th in both the final USCHO.com national poll and the final USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine national top-15 poll.• BU held the top spot in the USCHO poll on Feb. 6 heading into the Beanpot.• BU recorded 11 comeback wins for the second

91ST SEASON• The Terriers are in their 91st season of intercol-legiate play and currently hold a 1437-829-143 (.627) record.• BU’s 1,436 wins are only surpassed by Minnesota (1,665 wins - 91 seasons) and Michigan (1,562 wins - 90 seasons). The three programs represent a trio of the top NCAA Division I college hockey conferences in the WCHA (Minnesota), CCHA (Michigan) and Hockey East (BU), and hold a combined 19 national titles between them.

40th SEASON ON THE TERRIER BENCH• BU head coach Jack Parker is now in his 40th season and holds an overall record of 887-463-113 (.645).• His 887 wins mark the most of any college hockey coach at the same institution and he ranks second among active coaches in wins and fourth in winning percentage.

VS. THE WARRIORSParker has coached 90 games against Merrimack, posting an impressive record of 70-14-6 (.811).

IN HOCKEY EAST• Parker holds an all-time 414-228-86 (.627) record in Hockey East regular-season play, which is the most wins of any league coach.

HOHMANN LIFTS BU TO OT WIN VS. RPI (1/4)• Cason Hohmann scored 2:56 into overtime to lift Boston University to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-be-hind victory over Rensselaer on Jan. 4 at Agganis.• Rensselaer never trailed until the final shot, opening the scoring exactly 10 minutes into the game before scoring again at 14:43 of the second to take a 2-1 advantage.• Hohmann also assisted on the game-tying goal, which came from the stick of Sahir Gill at the 5:30 mark of the third. Gill knocked in a rebound at the crease following a backhand attempt by Garrett Noonan from the same spot.• Sean Maguire won his fourth straight start and moved to a perfect 3-0-0 at home with his 27-save performance. RPI got 38 saves from Bryce Merriam.• Hohmann’s game-winner came on a rush along the right side set up initially by Patrick Mac-Gregor. Gill took a pass from MacGregor near the penalty boxes and backhanded the puck up the boards to Hohmann. With Matt Nieto charging hard to the net, Hohmann skated through the right circle and watched the defense gravitate towards Nieto before waiting out Merriam and roofing a shot over his glove to end the game.• The Terriers held a 41-29 shot advantage, including a 15-4 margin in the third, but came up empty on all five of their power-play chances. BU committed just one penalty, however, and was able to successfully kill it off.• Ryan Santana scored BU’s other goal - his first of the season - when he answered RPI’s early tally late in the first.

TERRIERS SUFFER 6-0 SETBACK AT DENVER (12/29)• BU suffered its first shutout loss in 125 games on Dec. 29, dropping a 6-0 decision at then-No.

14/15 Denver in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Magness Arena.• The last time BU was held without a goal was a 1-0 loss to Northeastern on Nov. 6, 2009, snap-ping the longest such streak in the nation.• Denver got goals from six players and four of them added an assist for two-point nights. Sopho-more Juho Olkinuora stopped all 29 shots he faced to earn the shutout in goal.• Matt O’Connor made 32 saves on 38 shots for the Terriers, who had five power-play chances in the game. The Pioneers scored a power-play goal in each period and had eight man-advantage op-portunities overall.• Denver got its first goal 4:59 in on a power-play tally by Shawn Ostrow and added two 4-on-4 tal-lies nine seconds apart later in the period.• The Terriers set season highs in both penalties (17) and penalty minutes (56). Alexx Privitera received a game disqualification for kicking and Patrick McGregor had a late game misconduct.

MAGUIRE BLANKS MAINE, 1-0 (12/8)• BU closed out the first semester with a 1-0 vic-tory over Maine on Dec. 8 at Agganis Arena.• Sean Maguire earned his second consecutive shutout with a 28-save performance and Garrett Noonan provided the game’s lone goal on a power play just 7:13 into the contest.• Maguire became the first goaltender in school history to post shutouts in each of his first two home starts.• Noonan’s tally came on a blast from the left circle that beat Maine goaltender Martin Ouellette short side. Danny O’Regan and Alexx Privitera picked up assists on the goal.• BU missed a great opportunity to double its lead late in the second period when Cason Hohmann drew a penalty shot while skating in on a break-away. Ouellette came through with a glove save to keep it a 1-0 game.• Ouellette made 20 stops in goal for Maine, which came up empty on all four of its power-play chances, including a five-minute major on BU’s Ben Rosen with 5:23 left in regulation. BU KNOCKS OFF TOP-RANKED UNH (12/6)• BU knocked off a No. 1-ranked team for the sec-ond time in seven days, posting a 3-2 road victory against New Hampshire.• BU had a 3-0 lead midway through the game and held off a late charge by the Wildcats, who had nine power-play chances on the evening.• Sahir Gill scored a goal and added an assist while Wade Megan and Sam Kurker also scored. • Matt O’Connor made 31 saves to become the first visiting goalie to win in Durham this season.• BU got on the board first when Megan poked in a loose puck at the left crease at 4:39 of the first.• Following a pass by Cason Hohmann, Gill scored off a rush with a backhand at 4:01 of the second. • Minutes later, Kurker provided what would be the game-winner when he slotted a slot through traffic after collecting a high rebound in the slot.• Kevin Goumas got UNH on the board with 5:55 left in the second period on a power-play goal.• John Henrion made it a one-goal game with 8:06 left in regulation, but the Terriers held on despite committing a late penalty that created a 6-on-4 advantage for the home team.

The Terriers, however, tacked on an shorthanded empty-netter with a goal by Wade Megan to make it 4-1.• Another Terrier penalty gave BC a 6-on-3 advan-tage, which they cashed in on with 24 seconds left to create the 4-2 final.• BU was 0-for-2 on the power play but killed off six of the Eagles’ seven chances on the man advantage with the lone exception being the 6-on-3. BC, which held a 37-34 edge in shots, got a 30-save performance from Milner.• Rodrigues and Megan each added an assist for two-point nights and Matt Nieto assisted on both of BU’s first two goals.12/1 at Conte Forum• BC earned the weekend split with a 5-2 home win. The Eagles went 4-of-8 on the power play and reeled off four straight goals after the teams went into the first intermission tied, 1-1.• After allowing the Eagles to strike first on a power play midway through the opening period, BU tied it up on a power-play tally of its own from the stick of Cason Hohmann with helpers going to Sahir Gill and Wade Megan.• The home team, however, dominated play in the second, tacking on three more power-play goals to take a 4-1 lead before adding another marker early in the third to take a four-goal lead.• Evan Rodrigues got his second goal of the week-end on a power play to create the 5-2 final. • BU went 2-of-6 on the power play and ended a 0-for-20 skid in the process. LAWRENCE (11/24)• Sean Maguire stopped all 21 shots he faced to lead Boston University to a 4-0 victory over St. Lawrence at Agganis Arena.• Wade Megan opened the scoring and the Terriers also got goals from Sam Kurker, Ben Rosen and Matt Nieto. Kurker’s was his first as a Terrier.• BU snapped the Saints’ eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) against Hockey East schools. • It was the Terriers’ first shutout against a non-league team since a 3-0 blanking of Dartmouth on Dec. 30, 2006, as they held the nation’s top scoring duo of senior Kyle Flanagan and junior Greg Carey pointless in the process.• Megan gave the Terriers a 1-0 lead with his seventh goal of the year at 11:15 of the first. • BU put together a 22-shot barrage in the middle period but were not able to double their lead until late in the stanza. From above the right post, Kurker finished off a 2-on-1 with Sahir Gill at 18:54 for his first collegiate goal.• Rosen made it a 3-0 cushion with 6:55 left in the contest when he poked in a puck at the crease after a high rebound.• With 31.9 seconds left in regulation, Nieto cre-ated the 4-0 final.• BU had a season-high 47 shots but went 0-for-6 on its power play.

BU TOPPED BY UNH (11/18)• Despite recording 46 shots, Boston University dropped a 3-1 contest to New Hampshire at Ag-ganis Arena.• After UNH scored twice in the opening period, Danny O’Regan got BU on the board when he cashed in on a rebound at 4:40 of the second to end an impressive UNH shutout skein of 204:40.• BU recorded 17 shots in both the second and third periods, but went 0-for-7 on its power play over that span and could not score an equalizer.• Kevin Goumas added an empty-netter in the final second of the contest for his second goal of the game to create the 3-1 final.• Casey DeSmith turned in an impressive 45-save performance for the Wildcats, who went 0-for-2 on their power play. Matt O’Connor shook off the two first-period goals by UNH to post 32 saves for the Terriers.

BU ROLLS PAST VERMONT (11/16)• Boston University scored three goals in each of the first two periods to cruise to a 6-2 road victory over Vermont at Gutterson Fieldhouse.• BU got goals from six players and freshman Sean Maguire made 29 saves to earn his first collegiate win.• The Terriers successfully killed off an early 5-on-3 UVM advantage that lasted for 1:45 to seize the momentum and then never relinquished it, reeling off the game’s first four goals, including tallies on each of their first two power-play chances.• Wade Megan and Alexx Privitera each recorded a goal and an assist. Megan’s tally was the eventual game-winner and Privitera recorded a game-high four blocked shots. Garrett Noonan and Cason Hohmann (game-best +3 rating) collected two assists apiece.• Ahti Oksanen, who opened the scoring, joined Sahir Gill, Wesley Myron and Sean Escobedo as BU’s other goal-scorers. Myron’s tally was his first as a Terrier.

TERRIERS TRIPPED UP BY BC (11/11)• In the first tilt of the year between the rivals, Boston University dropped a 4-2 contest to Boston College at Agganis Arena.• The Eagles scored in the opening minute and held that 1-0 lead all the way through until the middle of third before tacking on back-to-back goals just over a minute apart.• Down 3-0, BU got on the board when Matt Grzel-cyk followed up his own rebound and scored his first collegiate goal with 4:40 left in the third. • On a late power play, the Terriers pulled goal-tender Matt O’Connor to create a 6-on-4 advan-tage, but Bill Arnold gave BC a 4-1 lead when he scored on the empty net from the BC zone.• In the closing seconds of the power-play chance, Alexx Privitera converted from the high slot for his first goal of the season. • Despite giving up three goals, O’Connor was impressive in 20-save performance. BC netminder Parker Milner recorded the win, making 25 saves.• BU, which held a 27-24 shot advantage, killed off all six of BC’s power-play opportunities and Privitera’s goal was the Terriers’ lone conversion on seven power-play attempts.

TERRIERS SPLIT AT THE RALPH (11/2-3)• Three goals in a span of 3:42 late in the third period turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 triumph, as BU rallied to earn a weekend split with No. 5/6 North Dakota on Nov. 2-3 in Grand Forks.• Matt Nieto tied the game with 5:21 left and Matt Lane provided the game-winner at 18:10


with his first collegiate goal. Just 11 seconds after Lane’s marker, Danny O’Regan completed the spurt with a late insurance tally.• Matt O’Connor improved to 4-0-0 with a 26-save performance, helping BU earn its first-ever win in Grand Forks in eight tries (1-6-1). • The victory also snapped UND’s 12-game home unbeaten streak (10-0-2) and it marked the first time since March 13, 2010, that NoDak lost a home game in which it held a third-period lead.• After UND opened the scoring 5:47 into the game on a fluke goal by Stephane Pattyn, Wade Megan tied the game just 42 seconds into the middle stanza on a wrister from the right circle. • The home team regained the lead midway through the second on a goal by Danny Kristo.• That 2-1 advantage for North Dakota held for over 25 minutes of play until Nieto took a pass from O’Regan and wristed a shot past UND net-minder Zane Gothberg from the high slot.• Gothberg made 29 saves for UND, as BU held a 33-28 shot advantage. Each team went 0-for-3 on its power play.• Despite taking a 1-0 lead into the second period on Friday, BU fell to North Dakota, 4-2. LATE GOAL LIFTS BU TO UMASS SWEEP (10/27)• Sean Escobedo scored off a rebound with 1:22 left in regulation to lift BU to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind road win over Massachusetts.• Faced with a 2-0 deficit just over a minute into the second, BU was able to tie heading into the third before Escobedo’s late heroics completed a weekend home-and-home sweep.• Head coach Jack Parker did not make the trip to Amherst, as he was recovering from a back injury that kept him from being on the bench in Friday’s 5-2 victory at Agganis. • The winning goal came on a rush set up initially with a pass from Matt Nieto to Danny O’Regan, who skated up the left before firing a shot that was saved by UMass netminder Kevin Boyle.• O’Regan and Escobedo charged in towards the rebound and Escobedo - who was celebrating his 22nd birthday - chopped at the puck and popped it over Boyle for his first goal of the season.• Matt O’Connor turned in another impressive out-ing, stopping the last 25 shots he faced as part of a career-best 34-save performance.• In addition to assisting on the game-winner, Nieto provided the game-tying goal. O’Regan and

Garrett Noonan each recorded two assists on the night and Escobedo registered a game-high five blocked shots.

O’REGAN PUSHES TERRIERS PAST UMASS (10/26)• Danny O’Regan scored the first two goals of his collegiate career and Cason Hohmann added two late tallies as part of a three-point night to help BU post a 5-2 win over UMass at Agganis Arena.• It was a special night at Agganis, as over 80 former players attended and were part of a first-intermission ceremony to honor Jack Parker for his 40 years as head coach of the Terriers. Parker was not on the bench for the game due to a back ailment and watched from the coaches’ box.• Matt O’Connor earned his second win in as many starts thanks to a 28-save performance. • The Terriers never trailed in the contest. After a scoreless first, Wade Megan opened the scoring 51 seconds into the second.• Less than four minutes later, O’Regan doubled the lead when he tipped in a feed from classmate Matt Grzelcyk for his first goal in a BU uniform.• O’Regan put BU up 3-1 at the 4:33 mark of the third on a 5-on-3 power play following yet another great look by Grzelcyk.• After the Minutemen got within one at 3-2, Hohmann scored on a power-play rush 43 seconds later to dampen UMass’ hopes at a comeback.• Hohmann put the finishing touches on the vic-tory with an empty netter with 50 seconds left in regulation.

BU FALLS AT UNH (10/20)• Despite scoring on the first shot of the game, Boston University dropped a 4-1 contest to then-No. 15 New Hampshire at the Whittemore Center.• Wade Megan scored off a 2-on-1 rush with Evan Rodrigues just 43 seconds into the contest, but the home squad responded midway through the first with goals 18 seconds apart to go up, 2-1. • The home team added two more tallies in the second to earn the victory.• UNH had 10 players record one point each and got goals from John Henrion, Nick Sorkin, Eric Knodel and Scott Pavelski.• Making his collegiate debut, Sean Maguire made 10 saves and allowed all four goals in 32:19 between the pipes before giving way to classmate Matt O’Connor, who stopped all 15 shots he faced.• Casey DeSmith earned the win in goal for UNH, recording 24 saves while keeping the visitors scoreless for the final 59:17 of the evening.

TERRIERS DOUBLE UP PC IN OPENER (10/13)• Two goals late in the second period turned a deficit into a lead, as the Terriers posted a 4-2 victory over Providence in their season opener at Agganis Arena.• Cason Hohmann had a hand in three goals, scoring the game-winner and adding two assists. Ryan Ruikka opened the scoring in the first before the Friars took a 2-1 lead. Garrett Noonan tied the game and Ben Rosen added an empty-netter.• Matt O’Connor recorded 26 saves in his col-legiate debut and fellow rookie Jon Gillies totaled 30 stops in goal for the Friars.• Ruikka opened the scoring 7:52 into the contest when he fired a shot from the top of the zone that found the top-right corner of the net.• Providence was able to get an equalizer before the end of the first and Paul de Jersey put the visitors up, 2-1, at 5:15 of the second off a rebound at the left post.• The Terriers regained the lead before the end of the period as Noonan blasted a shot from the high

shot that made its way through traffic at 15:58 and Hohmann converted from the foot of the left circle less than three minutes later off a drop pass by Evan Rodrigues.• O’Connor stopped the final 13 shots he faced, as he and the BU defense kept the visitors scoreless for the final 34:45.• Ben Rosen scored a late empty-netter when he flipped the puck high into the PC zone from just outside the Terrier blue line.

ON THE ICEA sparkplug at center for the 1966-68 Terrier varsity teams that combined for a 72-22-4 record, he played on three Beanpot championship teams and in two NCAA tournaments (1966 – fourth-place finish, 1967 – second-place finish).Captained the team his senior year and was named recipient of the Bennett McInnis Award for Spirit. Had 14 goals and 11 assists that year.Highly regarded scholastic center who was MVP of the Catholic Memorial team his senior year.

ON THE BENCHCurrently boasts an overall record of 887-463-114 for a .645 winning percentage. His 887 wins mark the most of any college hockey coach at the same institution, while he ranks second among active coaches in wins and fourth in winning percentage. Has reached the 20-win mark in 26 seasons.Has won three NCAA titles, four consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference crowns (1974-77), 21 Beanpots and seven Hockey East titles.Has coached the team to 24 NCAA tournament appearances, the most of any coach and the most of any coach at a single school.Was named the Terriers’ 10th hockey coach on Dec. 21, 1973. Six days later, in his first game as a head coach, he recorded his first win — a 3-1 decision over Dartmouth.Prior to his being elevated to the top position, he served as the Terriers’ B-team coach for one year.Began his coaching career right out of college at Medford High School. After one year, he returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant under his former mentor, Jack Kelley. He worked in that capacity for three years before being elevated to the B-team post in the fall of 1972.Was head coach of the U.S. National Junior Team at the 1996 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.

ON THE WALLHas received countless honors, including the Spencer Penrose Memorial Trophy as the NCAA Coach of the Year three times. The first was in 1975, when he guided his first team to a 26-5-1 mark, the best major college record in the nation. He also earned the award after guiding the 1977-78 team to a 30-2 record and the NCAA title. Most recently, Parker earned the honor for the third time after leading the Terriers to the NCAA title and a 35-6-4 record during the 2008-09 season.Has been named the New England Coach of the Year seven times (1978, 1984, 1986, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2009).Has been Hockey East Coach of the Year five times (1986, 1992, 2000, 2005 and 2006).Received the Boston University Distinguished Alum Award (1992).Named the Gridiron Club Co-Coach of the Year (1992).Was inducted into BU Athletic Hall of Fame (1994).Inducted into the Beanpot Hall of Fame (1995).Presented an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree by Boston University (1997).Inducted into The Sports Museum’s Tradition (2009).Named a recipient of the NHL’s Lester Patrick Award (2010).

PLAYER RECOGNITIONSince 1976, 23 of his players have played in the Olympics. The streak began when Dick Lamby played for the 1976 U.S. Team in Innsbruck, Austria. Certainly, one of Parker’s proudest moments came in 1980 when former Terriers Mike Eruzione, Dave Silk, Jack O’Callahan and Jim Craig were on the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team that won the gold medal. The most veteran Olympian is Keith Tkachuk, who played in his fourth Olympiad in 2006. Scott Young made his third Olympic appearance in 2002 and Chris Drury has been on each of the last three U.S. Olympic Teams. Former BU standout Rick DiPietro was on the 2006 team and Ryan Whitney made his Olympic debut in 2010. Two of his players, center John Cullen and defenseman Peter Ahola, were named to the Hockey East All-Decade Team of the 1980s.Five of his players were named to the ECAC All-Decade Team of the 1970s. They were Rick Meagher, Eruzione, Vic Stanfield, Peter Brown and Craig.One of his players, Cleon Daskalakis, was selected to the ECAC All-Decade Team of the 1980s. Drury was selected to Hockey East’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s and defenseman Matt Gilroy was named to the league’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s. Both of them also were named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award in their senior seasons.
