sharing personal experiences with the world in ‘no holds barred’ style.

Transparency and Authenticity were key to

online discussions.

Originally, Social Media started with bloggers,

sharing personal experiences with the world in ‘no holds barred’ style.

Transparency and Authenticity were key to

online discussions.

This becomes symptomatic when friend-driven

communication is accessed by your

professional colleagues.

Page 47: 2011 Trend Report (general version) - Urbanology by Tami Honesty

For example, when your company’s HR Dept. discovers

“compromising” sorority photos on Facebook, which

convey a very different image from your professional

identity.

Page 48: 2011 Trend Report (general version) - Urbanology by Tami Honesty

In 2010, companies lessen fears of social media and

some even encouraged use. Many HR departments introduced standard

practices, this will continue to be a discussion on “what

standard means?”

For example, when your company’s HR Dept. discovers

“compromising” sorority photos on Facebook, which

convey a very different image from your professional

identity.

Page 49: 2011 Trend Report (general version) - Urbanology by Tami Honesty

In 2011, multiple identities will emerge, as people feel the need to mask true identity and/or silo followers. This leads to juggling multiple profiles, usernames and identities/alias on popular networks like Facebook

Page 50: 2011 Trend Report (general version) - Urbanology by Tami Honesty

Identifying your consumer will become more complex but not

impossible! Yet, prevailing to those savvy marketers who tap the

multifaceted consumer engagement, interest and lifestyle!

In 2011, The Hottest Topic?

The Census Results!

"The concept of an 'average American' [General Market Consumer] is gone,

probably forever," demographics expert Peter Francese writes in 2010 America,

Ad Age white paper. "The average American has been replaced by

complex, multidimensional society, that defies simplistic labeling."

Page 56: 2011 Trend Report (general version) - Urbanology by Tami Honesty

Minorities are the new majority. "One fact says it all," Mr. Francese writes. "In the two largest states (California and Texas), as well as New Mexico and Hawaii, the nation's traditional majority group -- white non-Hispanics -- is in the minority." And in the nation's 10 largest cities, he says, "no racial or ethnic category describes a majority of the population."

In charging ahead, is the Millennials failing to take time to focus and reflect? Are they so caught up in keeping up that they will ignore vital real-life lessons that are needed to gain the experience and essentially life wisdom?
