OVID (Publius Ovid Naso) was a roman poet who livedfrom 43 bc–17 ad. His mo◊ famous work, Metamorphoses,

∆ + poetic narrative of the Greek myths, celebratingthe themes of transformation and change.

Each year, from small lots of fruit grown in thered rocky soil of o u r v i n e y a r d on Pritchard Hill,

we choose ju◊ the best barrels and blend them togetherto create the n e w v i n t a g e of OVID N A PA VA L L E Y .

The vineyard’s e v o l u t i o n fascinates ÷–with each succeeding vintage, new dimensions of the wines are r e v e a l e d .

OVID is a blend o f t h e f o u r Bo r d e a u x varietals grown here: Cabernet Sauvignon , cabernet franc, µerlot &

Petit Verdot, varying in p r o p o r t i o n from year to yearbut always eloquently c o n v e y i n g this s p e c i a l p l a c e .

2011 was certainly not a typical year in NAPA VALLEY, and it is challenging vintages like this that distinguish the GREAT

VINEYARDS. In 2011, the best place to be was on top of the hills on the EASTERN side of the valley. The reasons for OUR

SITE’S “hilltop advantage” read a little bit like poetry: perched above the CLOUD LINE/ elongated days with gentle breezes /

VINES GROWING out of PURE ROCK. OVID’s wines from this cooler year are BEAUTIFUL,vibrant, and nuanced expressions of this

PROFOUND Pritchard Hill site.

The 2011 Ovid Napa Valley wine is truly ELOQUENT. It speaks first of violets, then freshly-crushed CURRANT and blueberries follow, with notes of tobacco, baking spice, and forest floor and a LONG , resonant finish. The

wine is at once mouth-filling and focused – like a GREAT Paulliac.
