March/April 2011
Hello Newf Friends,
I am hoping that this finds you all well, and anxiously looking forward to the Spring season. The groundhog didNOT see his shadow so I am waiting for better weather soon!
I wanted to give everyone a few updates. Unfortunately we fell three people short of establishing a quorum forour January meeting and only announcements could be made. If you were not there to enjoy the FREE PIZZAand beverage, we missed you. Hopefully you will be able to join us next time. I would like to share someupdates.
• The Board has reached a consensus on going forth with changing our tax status from a 501c7 to a 501c4.This change provides some additional perks that our club can take advantage of. This filing action is being doneat the present time. Our next step is to continue investigating and working on the possibility of establishing aTrust for NCNC’S Rescue program with 501c3 status. All these actions are being done under the direction of Mr.Edward Sledzik who does the work for NCA and other Regional clubs seeking this type of change.
• For quite some time Karen Clancy has been encouraging the club to utilize every avenue that technology canoffer to promote the club and its work. Thank you Karen for continuing to nudge us all. Thanks to Cathy Hartkeand Karen we now have a Facebook club page. This page is a work in progress and one that will continuallygrow and get better with age. This page will get the word out on events and things of interest in regards to ourclub. It is yet another way for people to be linked and stay in tune with club business. If you are a Facebookmember check it out: North Central Newfoundland Club page. Cathy and Karen are the Co-Administrators. Manythanks for your efforts on behalf of all of us.
• The Winter Walk was refreshing and lighthearted. The day turned out PERFECTfor Newfies and families alike. Someone was looking over us when the day waschosen and provided great temperature and clear skies. Thanks to the Hartke’s fortheir hospitality and to everyone who shared in the walk and snacks afterward. Please look for some photos within the newsletter as well as on the website andFacebook.
• Newfiepalooza is on the horizon, right around the corner. It has all the makingsof ANOTHER FANTASTIC event for the purpose of supporting RESCUE. March19th is the date. PLEASE mark your calendars and make a stop at the bank forsome extra cash. The items being auctioned and donated are well worth saving for. Thanks to Karen Clancy and Rhonda Brunning for working the entire year to gatherdonations and organize such a fantastic event. More details can be found in thisnewsletter, on the website and Facebook.
• NCNC REGIONAL will be held in DeKalb on April 9th and 10th. Thanks to Sharon Nummer and JohnJackman, our Co-Chairs. This is an extravaganza in the making with MANY new avenues taken. Our Fine ArtsAuction and brown bag raffles have a new flair thanks to Barbara and Jack Rozner who have solicited some overthe top items. Not all items will be breed specific so it will hopefully entice the many otherdog fanciers in attendance to visit our area and support us by purchasing tickets or by

Last but not least, after talking about all these exciting wonderful events, IF it is not possible to attend, howabout just loving on your beloved animals a little more each day. Unfortunately the recent past has beenfilled with the sad reminders of MANY of those dearly loved animals crossing the bridge far too early orquickly for our liking. Make each day special, as my Grandfather would tell me “Make it good”.
Wishing you all a wonderful Spring season, Happy St. Patrick’s day, Happy Easter, and whatever else youmight be celebrating, just remember MAKE IT GOOD.
