POST OAK NEWS JULY 2011
Water Use & RestrictionEffective June 1, 2011 the City of Kyle went to
stage 2 mandatory water use management.
What does this mean for us?Mandatory twice per week watering schedule remains in
effect, but may be upgraded to once per week as conditions
warrant.
Residential Odd-Numbered Addresses
Wednesday and/or Saturday
Residential Even-Numbered Addresses
Thursday and/or Sunday
Outdoor irrigation is allowed under the following
conditions:1. Watering is done by a handheld hose or handheld bucketat any time during the day or night;
2. By a hose and sprinkler, a soaker hose, or drip irrigation, before 10am or after 8pm, on your designated day.
3. By a permanently installed automatic irrigation systemfrom 12:00 midnight to 10:00am on an outdoor water use
day as designated in the water conservation guidelines; or forproperty which a person obtains a variance from the City
Manager or his designee to divide the property into sections,to be watered on different outdoor water use days.**For more information please go to www.cityofkyle.com

Many of our residents’ homes border theundeveloped land to the south. The City of Kyle
and the Fire Marshall have said our developer,Rick Jenkins, has fulfilled his obligation to mow
the undeveloped land 30 feet out from homes. If we, as residents, choose to try to water that area, it
is then considered "an attempt to maintain," andwe would be held responsible for it's mowing. Even
with the watering ban in place, there are still things
we CAN do...
Remove any trash or combustible materials from
your yards and inside your garages
Start your lawnmower outside on a hard surfacesuch as the driveway or sidewalk. In a semi-
enclosed area such as a garage; gasoline vapors canignite from a heat source even a few feet away,
such as a lighted cigarette.
Check electrical cords used for outdoor lawn work
Fire Prevention Ti s In and Around Your Home
equipment for frayed at the plug or cut spots. If
necessary, replace the cord or repair with electrical tape.
For those of you with chimneys, have them cleanedprofessional when necessary. Cover chimney outlet with
a non-flammable screen mesh 1/2 inch or smaller of youdryer after every use.
For those of you with raised wood decks, remove any
vegetation or combustible material from under the deck, and enclose it with fire retardant materials.
When outdoor entertaining, fill a small colorful bucket
with sand for cigarette butts.
When driving, please resist the urge to toss your still-litcigarette, and use your cars ashtray instead.
These are only a few suggestions for fire
prevention. Anyone wanting to add to the list, pleasefeel free to post them on our HOA facebook.

POST OAK NEWS JULY 2011
Post Oak Pool Season begins with a SplashBy: Leanndrea Zaczek-Gillenwater
As many of you may already know, our community’s pool
season began with a splash. Post Oak pool rules were created
several years ago to maintain the pool because it is a
common property owned by all property owners in Post Oak.
Over the years, we have had several issues with the pool.
From water quality, to broken/stolen furniture, to
inappropriate behavior, etc., the monitor is there during peak
hours to make sure the pool is an enjoyable experience for
everyone in our community.
Because of many transitions occurring just before this year’s
pool season began, we’ve had to overcome some challenges.
A new community manager was assigned late last year, a
new board of director was elected in April and new board
officers were elected in May. And if you’ll recall our pool
season began on Memorial Day weekend.
Facebook has opened a portal of unprecedented
communication for our community. The pool has been a hot
topic well before it was even opened. Many residents have
requested a longer pool season, compromise during adult
swim times, as well as other amendments to particular pool
rules. At he HOA meeting in June, all of these topics, among
others were discussed.
Our community has a budget that must be taken into
consideration. To stay in budget this year, when negotiating
the first pool monitor, it was suggested to minimize the
number of hours the pool monitor was onsite and to close the
pool one hour earlier on week nights. The board and the
monitor agreed to the contract. While still over-budget for
our pool monitor we were considerably closer to our
budgeted amount.
Unfortunately, there were issues with our first pool monitor
being present. After several incidents over the first few
weeks, it was decided to terminate the contract and hire
someone local.
When the second monitor came on board, they hadn’t been
properly prepared. For example, the first night they were on
duty, they didn’t know about Adult Swim or what the
protocol was for it. They also learned and expressed to the
board officers specific things they were having trouble with,
for example, it would be helpful to have the rules in Spanish,
as there are many community members who only speak
Spanish. The pool monitor was also told explicitly by th
community management company to enforce a rule that
wasn’t written involving cover-ups.
After several incidents and little support from our
community management company our second pool
monitor gave its required notice. The incidents leading
up to notice for termination of contract by our second
monitor involved several verbal threats from community
members and a few visits from our local police
department. Some of Post Oak community members
challenge authority at the pool. This is not the first year
this has happened; it has gone on for several years now.
The pool should be a safe, enjoyable place for everyoneto enjoy.
A new monitor has been hired to enforce rules at the
pool. We hope to see a mutually beneficial relationship
form between our new monitor and our community.
Amidst all of this the board officers were trying to amend
some of the pool rules where you’d expressed concern
over.
New amendments were made to the pool rules. Sixteen
year olds, with a picture id, may be at the pool without
adult supervision. They may not supervise children
under sixteen. A parent from a household may supervis
all children from their household that are listed on the
acknowledgement form that is filed with our community
management company, and a household may have up to
four guests. The pool will be open on Monday, July 4.
However, so that the pool may be properly cleaned it
may be closed Tuesday, July 5, since it is opened on a
Monday for holiday when it would typically be closed fo
cleaning. The board has asked to allow t-shirt cover-ups
but the issue has still not been resolved. Please try to bepatient as we are working diligently to make these
changes. We’ve also come to a compromise with Adult
Swim, children and their parents may be in the splash
pad area or children 5 and under and their parents may
be in the baby pool during Adult Swim Tuesday and
Thursday from 8PM-9PM and Saturday from 9AM-
10AM.
