SPORT | CULTURE | FRIENDSHIPThe Indian Rim Asian University Games are a celebration of sport for the sake of friendship. The inaugural Games in 2005 featured over 800 competitors from 26 universities in 10 countries - the largest international university sports competition ever hosted in Australia.

Open to university teams from the Indian Ocean Rim and Asian regions, the Games are an excellent opportunity for university students to experience international competition, interact in a positive fashion with a variety of cultures and, in the process, build life long friendships.

THE LOGO “Sport - Culture - Friendship” is the motto of the Indian Rim Asian University Games. The Games logo features three ‘drops’ that reflect these key elements of the Games. It’s not always the winning that’s important. The opportunity to build friendships and share cultures across our region can only serve to benefit students, staff and universities alike. The logo also represents the three regions covered by the Games; Australia, Indian Rim and Asia.

THE OBJECTIVESThe primary objective of the Games is to provide university students in the Indian Ocean Rim and Asian regions with regular international competitions. Benefits of this include exposure to different cultures, the establishment of strong ties between universities and the exchange of ideas between competitors, officials and staff.
