Welcome to the Big Sky Elite Female Sale!

Within 20 miles of each other in the Bozeman region of Montana live four of the most recognizable and respected Red Angus breeders in North America. Collaboratively, these breeders have produced many stud bulls that are in the ranks of ABS, Genex and Accelerated Genetics, as well as many seedstock herds across the country. This offer-ing will include dams, sisters, cousins and nieces to some of the most highly regarded Red Angus bulls in the industry.

In early September I drove to southwestern Montana and went through these cattle and I can tell you that the quality is superb. The beauty of the Big Sky Elite offering is that there is diversity. Every beef operation has its own needs when it comes to genetics and between the four cattle operations offered, I am sure you can fi nd what you are looking for in a high quality animal from one or more of these four Red Angus programs.

The cattle industry is certainly making some fast-paced changes these days. With the high cost of feed and other operating inputs, it is time for the high effi ciency and easy-fl eshing abilities of Red Angus cattle. Add to these economic traits, superior marbling, quiet disposition and great maternal characteristics and you can see why the beef industry is turning to the Red Angus breed for answers. The U.S. cowherd continues to shrink, beef demand is rising and beef exports are growing. Now is the time to make sure you are raising a highly marketable calf! 880 has always been at the top of the Feddes program with her 106.9 MPPA and a history of producing top sellers. Heifer calves have sold to Larry Ellison for $6,000 for ¾ interest, and to Majestic Meadows for $7,500 for ½ interest. Larry Ellison sold his interest in that heifer calf to Wildcat Creek where they have said she is one of the top cows at their ranch, which is quite an accomplishment considering the cattle they have bought. Eighteen embryos have sold for an average of $750 a piece. 880 is still fl ushing well. The last two fl ushes have averaged seven embryos. This cow still has the ability to be a herd-impacting cow for the new owner. She sells open, ready to fl ush with three embryos by the new standout ABS bull, C-T Grand Statement, who sold for $22,500 in our spring bull sale.

This is an excellent group of young Red Angus cows. They are all sired by good maternal Feddes/C-T Red Angus bulls and will have a lot of calves left in them. They will sell individually and will calve brom 2/15 thru 4/1. Calving dates are available on all of them. They are all bred to Red Angus bulls.

This is a nice group of Sim/Red Angus Cross heifers. Five of them are bred for the fi rst part of February and one is later. They are all bred to Lucht Pasquale 923.
