SC-H-3.4.3 - Biologicalclassifications are based onhow organisms are related.

Organisms are classified intoa hierarchy of groups and

subgroups based onsimilarities that reflect theirrelationships. Species is the

    most fundamental unit ofclassification. Different

species are classified by thecomparison and analysis oftheir internal and external

SC-H-3.6.1 - Living systemsrequire a continuous input of

energy to maintain theirchemical and physicalorganization since the

universal tenency is towardmore disorganized states.

The energy for life primarilyderives from the Sun. Plantscapture energy by absorbing

light and using it to formstrong chemical bonds

between the atoms of carbon-containing molecules. These

molecules can be used toassemble larger molecules.

In addition, the energy storedin the bonds between the

atoms can be used assources of energy for life
