The Urban Funk Spectacular

Artist series $30 adult/$25 youth

October 8, 2011

The nationally touring show, Break! THe UrBan FUnk SpeCTaCUlar, is a high energy tribute to Hip Hop featuring New York’s finest urban artists, a pumping soundtrack, live DJ and

master percussionists! Thrill to the pure physical strength and agility, breathtaking movements, and cutting edge dance. The cast and their unorthodox creative movement demonstrate

a distinctive American art form which finds its roots in the streets of the inner city. Performers have all been

featured as solo dancers in worldwide performances with show business legends including Puff Daddy,

Janet Jackson, Ringo Starr, Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross. Each performer in this show is a supremely talented specialist from the world of

break dancing, locking, “electric boogaloo” or “popping,” and power tumbling.

Blast!

“An exuberant show ... Blast! stands, blows, pounds, marches

and whirls with panache.” – Bruce McCabe, Boston Globe

“Get your tickets now! A sure-fire hit. The only problem is in trying to describe just exactly what it is. This joyous explosion of music, movement ... packs a definite punch ... part marching band, part color guard and part jam session ... This is one you won’t want to miss.” – richard Ouzounian, The Toronto Star

Audiences across the nation are going wild for BlaST! – the winner of the 2001 Tony Award for “Best Theatrical Event” and the 2001 Emmy Award for “Best Choreography.” It’s America’s newest music-in-motion movement on national tour! Think riverdance or Stomp but in a totally unique event that combines instrumental virtuosity and the precision & pageantry of brass and percussion, with visual performers in a unique explosion of music and the showmanship of outdoor pageantry. It’s a flurry of drums, bugles, flags, rifles, sabers, costuming and special effects!
