11-12 DI WBB Championship Tournament

2011-2012 DI Tournament Information

All 16 teams/districts will be seeded by a committee consisting of the section directors.

Seeding will commence during a conference call on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Should a

member of the seeding committee coach a team participating in the tournament, that

individual shall be excluded from the seeding process. A representative from the Coaches

Association will be included on the conference seeding call for information purposes, but

will not have a vote in the seeding and will be excused from the call prior to the actual

seeding process. The Coaches Association must choose a representative that does not

have a team participating in the tournament.

In no particular order, seeding will be determined on the basis of:

1. Regional placement in the previous season’s national tournament.

2. Strength of Region/District

3. National Poll

4. Overall/JUCO record

5. Coaches Association input

1 Trinity Valley Community College, Texas 3 34-3 The Cardinals are a preseason No. 1 with three returning starters including All-American Sha’Kayla Caples.

2 Pensacola State College, Fla. 0 35-1 Although the Pirates have a completely new roster, expectations are still high after last season.

3 Midland College, Texas 3 27-6 With an experienced roster and talented newcomers, the Chaparrals are prepared for a deep tournament run.

4 North Idaho College 1 32-3 Despite having 11 freshmen on the roster, the Cardinals should have a shot at repeating as national champions.

5 Northern Oklahoma College - Enid 1 30-7 Aiming to build off last season’s fourth-place finish, the Jets are favored to return to the national tournament.

6 Central Arizona College 2 26-6 The Vaqueras bring a talented squad into the 2011-12 season and expect to be playing late into March.

8 Chattanooga State Comm. College, Tenn. 3 22-8 A disappointing showing at last season’s national tournament has the Tigers eager to return.

9 Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Miss. 1 27-4 Although 2011-12 will be considered a rebuilding season for the Lady Wolves, vast success is still expected.
