LIGHT’S ROLE IN SPACE

IDENTITY ORIENTATION

Light plays an extremely important role in a space. By the day we have light from the sun, but as the curtain of night falls we have the lib-erty to show the space as we want to. Space becomes a plain canvass.

Structure, Orientation and Identity are the cor-ner stones of any lighting design (As originally philosophized by Ellen de vries of Het lux lab). When a lighting design is made in consider-ation with Structure, orientation and Identity. It not only provides the functional values of light (like site and safety) but creates visual hierar-chy, rhythm and creates a greater impulse for visual memory. Which makes a space speak its own language and story. As a result creat-ing a unique experience.



EXISTING LIGHTING IN THE RESRORT

Existing lighting in the resort is very high on glare quotient. The third dimension is lost in the darkness of night. And the visual hierarchy is missing.

There is no visual association that one can make with the property. Which in turn makes the night time experience extremely dull.



LIGHTING PROPOSAL - CONCEPT

The concept we propose would be to make the third dimension visible. Make a

visual Hierarchy. Make a lighting plan where the effect of light but not the source takes

center stage. to make sure there is no glare. A better color consistency in the lighting design.

All in all the main idea will be to create a visual Harmony.
