Hideo “Pops” Yoshimura was born in 1922 in Fukuoka City, Japan. He was trained as a military airplane mechanic, but after his time in the service he made a name for himself working on the BSA and Triumph motorcycles of American servicemen stationed in Japan in the 1950s. Pops’s reputation as a master bike tuner grew boundlessly thanks to his talent for hand-altering stock parts to make them perform more efficiently and produce more power.

The first Yoshimura shop opened in 1954. Though Pops found himself tweaking planes, cars, and pretty much anything with a combustion engine, his true passion was motorcycles. Yoshimura’s promise of performance and power lead to a constant influx of orders and the shop boomed with business. But Pops wanted more.

His love of racing and his fascination with the legendary Daytona 200 fueled his move in 1971. Pops took leave of Yoshimura Japan and opened Yoshimura Research and Development in Los Angeles, California. His singular goal was to race Superbikes in Daytona.

In 1976, the first official AMA Superbike series was created and the first race was held in Daytona. This gave Pops a chance to not only race in Daytona, but to build a motorcycle that was faster than every other bike on the track. At the time, Yoshimura’s efforts benefited Kawasaki racer Wes Cooley. Cooley had an exciting riding style, and Pops developed exciting power. Together they formed a plan of attack to take home a trophy, but ended up with a fourth-place finish. The following year, Yoshimura moved one step closer to

victory in Florida when Wes wrangled a third-place podium finish with his Yoshimura-built engine.

In 1978 Yoshimura made a move that was the beginning of a long and storied relationship. Yoshimura teamed up with Suzuki to build Steve McLaughlin a GS1000, with which he won the Daytona Superbike race. With a taste of victory, Pops’s appetite for winning was insatiable. In 1979, Yoshimura-built Suzukis swept the Daytona 200. Team Yoshimura racers Ron Pierce, Wes Cooley, and Dave Emde finished first/second/third, making history as the first team to monopolize the podium in an AMA Superbike race.

The Story Of Yoshimura

Hideo “Pops” Yoshimura had a vision

Yoshimura and Suzuki won an unprecedented four consecutive Daytona Superbike races (1978-1981). Wes Cooley went on to win the 1979 and 1980 AMA Superbike titles, as well, on his Yoshimura Suzuki.

The legend of Superbike racing is closely tied to the legend and history of Yoshimura. Yoshimura’s dedication to speed and performance, hands-on fabrication and engine building, tireless work ethic, and of course the ever-expanding trophy case made for a growing following.

After a decade of working and racing in America, Pops decided it was time to go back home to Japan. He placed his son Fujio Yoshimura in charge of Yoshimura R&D of America, while Pops focused on furthering the legend of Yoshimura Japan. As we all know, motorcycling passion never dies, so Pops made his way to Daytona every year for his favorite race. Pops passed away in 1995, but his legacy will live on forever in the history of Superbike racing. He was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2000.

The history of Yoshimura racing is brimming with hundreds of stories that make up the greater legend. So many influential and successful racers have flown the Yoshimura flag that it’s nearly impossible to keep count. With recognizable names such as Dave Emde, Miguel Duhamel, Kevin Schwantz, Dave Aldana, Steve Crevier, Scott Gray, Jamie Hacking, Donald Jacks, Jamie James, Tom Kipp, Britt Turkington, Fred Merkel, Pascal Picotte, Ron Pierce, Doug Polen, Jason Pridmore, Steve Rapp, Scott Russell, Dave Sadowski, Jay Springsteen, Thomas Stevens, and many more, it’s evident that Yoshimura built its reputation for winning and performance one race at a time.

Yoshimura R&D of America grew by leaps and bounds in the early years. After Pops returned to Japan in the early 80s with a number of race victories under Yoshimura’s belt, the racing kept getting better. In this era of brand-new liter bikes and unbridled horsepower, Kevin Schwantz was signed to the Yoshimura race team in 1984. Kevin set the bar high by winning his first race for the team—both races at the 1985 AMA Willow Springs National.

Kevin finished second at the Daytona 200 in 1986 and 1987. In 1988, Yoshimura was once again victorious at the Daytona 200 when Kevin out-rode all the other racers. It was just the beginning of an epic career for Kevin Schwantz, but it marked a transitional period for Yoshimura. The company was enjoying unparalleled success, and growing from a small hand-built race shop to a certified powerhouse in the two-wheeled aftermarket exhaust business. A move from the small North Hollywood shop to a bigger facility in Chino, California, facilitated the influx of customer demand.

Another Yoshimura racer was winning in 1988: Doug Polen won both the 600cc and the 750cc Super Sport titles. In 1989, Jamie James won the Superbike title and the 750 Super Sport gold with the help of Yoshimura. Fast-forward a few years, and the legend of winning continued in 1993 with Britt Turkington’s 750cc Super Sport crown, and another Yoshimura racer, Tom Kipp, earned the title in 1994. Aaron Yates took charge of the Yoshimura racing legend in 1996 with the 750cc Super Sport title, and “The Joker” Steve Crevier continued the tradition by bagging the 600 Super Sport Championship in 1998.

During this time, Pops became ill and his son Fujio went back to Japan to take care of the business and his family. In his place Suehiro “Nabe” Watanabe, a race mechanic who rose up in the company, took over the reigns in the U.S. One thing that did not change was Yoshimura’s dedication to racing.

The History Of Yoshimura RacingThe Early Years

The one constant at Yoshimura that always stays the same whether

here in the USA or at Yoshimura Japan… is the love of racing.

The History Of Yoshimura RacingThe Modern EraBetter technology brought about a modern era of racing, and it began in 1996 when Yoshimura signed a brash and talented racer from Australia named Mat Mladin. Mladin left the following year for the Ducati team, but returned in 1998. It was the beginning of a well-documented and successful relationship.

Mat finished third in the Superbike series in 1998, but was on his way to being a championship-winning powerhouse. In 1999, he won the first of his incredible seven AMA National Superbike Championships. No one else in the series has as many race wins or pole positions as Mat, and he’s been a dominant force in American Superbike scene since his first win. His championship in 2009 was sweet, as Mat retired from the Superbike series at the end of the season.

Yoshimura also signed a young Texan named Ben Spies to the Superbike team. Ben took the title for three years straight before leaving the series in 2008. In 2009 Mladin dominated Superbike racing and claimed the championship crown. Since 1998, Yoshimura Suzukis have won the AMA Superbike championship 10 out of the past 11 years.

What Mladin was to racing, Nabe was to manufacturing. Under the direction of Nabe, Yoshimura fine-tuned its products. Nabe’s legendary manufacturing skills and his leadership and vision redefined what an aftermarket exhaust pipe company should be. Yoshimura truly was both a champion on the racetrack and in manufacturing.

With the continued growth of Yoshimura, the company moved to a new state-of-the-art compound in Chino that consists of a main manufacturing facility, which houses all of the exhaust production, a race shop where all the race teams and performance labs are based, and a research and development facility.

Nabe has since stepped down from running Yoshimura, devoting his time to supervising the R&D efforts. Keeping close to its roots in racing, race mechanic turned team manager Don Sakakura stepped up to become Senior

Vice President of Yoshimura R&D of America.

With that same passion that Pops had to race and win Daytona over 50 years ago, the same gusto Fujio felt to win the Suzuka 8 hour race, and the same determination Nabe and Don found for winning the AMA Superbike titles, Yoshimura continues its quest for power and quality.

The Yoshimura Suzuki Superbike team wants to monopolize the top spot on the podium. Period. Of course, it takes more than hard work and “wanting it” to succeed in road racing. Thankfully, Yoshimura’s pedigree of outstanding racing for over five decades has given us the edge when it comes to laying rubber down on the track and organizing a successful race effort. We don’t just work hard; we like to think that we work smart.

The old saying goes, “A racing team is only as good as the sum of its parts.” First and foremost you need to have riders capable of taking a bike to the podium. Next you need a world-class crew to build the machine and maintain it at its full potential. On top of that you have to have management that guides the whole effort in the proper direction, and last but not least, a relationship with the factory that enables access to special parts. Yoshimura is fortunate to have all these things. When you add in Yoshimura’s experience and dedication, and the incredible performance of the Suzuki GSX-R1000, you have a combination that’s hard to beat.

When all the parts of the team are working in synch, it is a thing of beauty. Each racer has a crew, and at the helm is a Crew Chief who oversees the day-to-day progress and runs the crew on race day. The crew usually consists of a few Chassis Mechanics, Electronics/Data Acquisition Specialist, Suspension Specialist, and Engine Builder…just to name a few.

There is also a Team Manager, Team Coordinator, Truck Drivers, PR people, In-house Fabricators and Engine Builders, and numerous other support personnel who work for the overall team. When all of these people work in unison, on an extremely tight schedule, things fall right into place for race season. It’s no small feat to get a large group of diverse people in perfect harmony, but at Yoshimura we’re fortunate to have a long history of doing just that. Though we may be very different individuals away from racing, at the track as a team we are a family. Our family knows that racing Superbikes is one of the hardest jobs we’ll ever love.

2010 Road Racing TeamBuilding Power

A racing team is only as good as the sum of its parts...

For most race enthusiasts, getting to ride a factory-built race-bred Superbike would be a dream come true. The reality is these bikes aren’t built for leisurely runs down scenic highways, and they can be uncompromisingly brutal. Fast? Yes. Fun? Well…depends on your idea of fun.

The sheer speed and force when the throttle of a Yoshimura built GSX-R1000 Superbike is wacked wide open is jaw dropping. Riding one of these beasts is akin to being in a gang fight every time you twist the grip; the word “Brutal” best describes the dynamic.

The Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000s are technological marvels, as every single bit of these bikes are fine-tuned, carefully prepared, and honed to perfection. The power that Yoshimura and Suzuki’s GSX-R line is known for, is in no short supply—these bad boys do 200mph and accelerate so hard it’s mind boggling.

To average riders, it’s hard to understand what it must feel like to ride one of these rocketships. Any man who can let these big Suzukis squirm underneath him, resisting the urge to brake and the need for complete control, is a true warrior in our book.

Mat Mladin and his GSX-R1000 were unstoppable in 2009, clinching the AMA Superbike Championship. Mat’s championship was an unprecedented seventh of his amazing racing career. True to form, Mat won 10 races total of the 20 races of the season. What a way to go out! Mladin retired from racing at the end of the season to focus on his growing business in Australia and spend time with his family.

Mat’s teammates for his championship season were Tommy Hayden and rookie Blake Young. Tommy Hayden, from a dynastic family of great racers, had

a fantastic year on the track in 2009. Tommy finished third overall and his speed on the racetrack earned him a podium finish in half of the races. With a solid showing in 2008, as well, Tommy is poised to become a force to be reckoned with for the 2010 season.

The new face on the team, Blake Young finished an impressive sixth overall in 2009 and showed great promise and potential. He was on the podium in four races, proving he can go fast and finish strong. Blake also took the opportunity to race in a World Superbike round at Donington Park, Great Britain.

2009 The Year in Racing

We’re looking to have another championship year in 2010, and we’ve got the team to do it. Tommy Hayden did very well in the 2009 season, reaching the podium in half of the races. Add to that his past successes, and we believe Tommy will continue his journey to get on top of the box.

With his freshman AMA Superbike year behind him, we expect Blake Young to become completely comfortable in 2010 and whip the competition with his blazing-fast Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000. A great racer and true talent, Blake is a contender and we can’t wait to see what he does on the track this year.

Suzuki Supercross/Motocross 2010 TeamThe Rockstar Makita Suzuki Motocross and Supercross efforts are full of talent. From the riders, to the experienced technicians and mechanics, to motocross racing legend Roger Decoster who steers the team, we are ready to compete in 2010. Just like Yoshimura’s exhausts systems, this team is dedicated to performance and quality and we’re looking forward to a winning season!

Leading the team is 20-year-old phenom Ryan Dungey, the 2009 Supercross Lites and Motocross Lites Champion, who is moving on up to take the Supercross 450 class by storm. In his fourth year racing for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, Dungey will take his Yoshimura-prepped RM-Z450 to the top of the podium. Joining Dungey in the pro class is Matt Moss, a 21-year-old racer from Australia who won both the 2009 Australian National Pro Lites championship and the 2009 Australasian Supercross Pro Lites championship. Rounding out the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team is Austin Stroupe, the 19-year-old North Carolina native who is set to compete in the Supercross Lites East series on the RM-Z250.

Honda Supercross 2010 TeamYoshimura will mark its fifth year of supporting Factory Honda Motocross Team in 2010. The season should be as exciting as the team roster predicts.

Yoshimura loves to race, but we also use the Honda Team as a tool to aid us in new product development. Factory racing standards are exceptionally high, and the challenge of building exhaust systems that satisfy the needs and expectations of a factory team benefit us in many ways. While our R&D group is pushed to test the limits of design and innovation to gain more or better power, the knowledge gained from this experience ensures that we’ll always be at the forefront of exhaust system technology.

And all the work we do on our end to make the factory exhaust systems perform flawlessly benefits the consumer. Every year Yoshimura engineers take what we learn from the races and the factory riders, and that knowledge goes right into the pipes we sell for our customer’s bikes. This is the real payoff for racing at the highest levels.

It was another banner year in 2009 for Team Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki/Yoshimura’s ATV efforts. Dustin Wimmer’s QuadRacer R450 entered the AMA ATV Motocross season with the number one plate securely fastened to it, and he was determined to defend his title. Dustin had a great season, taking first place in more than half of the races, and showing the competition why he’s the champ: speed, fluidity, and smart racing.

Dustin, from Center Valley, Pennsylvania, has an incredibly smooth riding style and an ability to pick lines that propel him to the front of the pack. He’s got back-to-back championships, and now he’s gunning for the Triple Crown in 2010.

On the flipside of motocross racing is the AMA Grand National Cross Country series. These two-hour-long races that wind through the toughest woods courses in the nation take a lot of training, timing, and perseverance. Team Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki/Yoshimura’s Chris Borich tackled the GNCC circuit with aplomb in 2009 and rode away with his first-ever championship. The Sunbury, Pennsylvanian, took home the trophy thanks to talent, training, and hard work.

Success is measured by equal parts racer skill and the talents of the crew and all the professionals who have helped put together the Yoshimura-powered Suzuki QuadRacer R450. This combined group effort secured multiple ATV championships in 2009, and we couldn’t be more proud. From a company standpoint, what we learn at the racetrack goes directly into our product line. Most Yoshimura products that help Wimmer and Borich win on the racetracks are available today at your local dealer, so you too can ride to your full potential.

ATV 2009 - Another Championship Year Dustin Wimmer

Josh Creamer

The QuadRacer R450 can win races, and the Rockstar Makita Suzuki ATV racers know how to get the quad across the finish line first. With Yoshimura’s support, the team took back-to-back championships in the AMA ATV MX series in 2008 and 2009.

Dustin Wimmer is at the helm of the Rockstar Makita Suzuki ATV team once again, and he knows a thing or two about winning championships—he won the championship the past two years, and he’s looking to make it three in a row in 2010. With his fluid race style and his commitment to being the best, the 22-year-old Pennsylvania native embodies the Yoshimura racing philosophy of quality and performance. Joining him for 2010 is up-and-comer Josh Creamer, who is always in contention for the top spot on the podium. The 24-year-old from Connecticut has a number of amateur titles under his belt, and aboard the QuadRacer R450 we expect great things from Creamer this season.

Research and Development is the middle name of our company, so it only stands to reason we take it very seriously. So seriously in fact, that we built a completely separate facility dedicated to nothing but R&D and stuck it way down at the end of the street.

It’s not an issue of the R&D guys being anti-social… it’s a matter of focus.

Our guys are the best in the business. Imagine if you will, a bunch of really creative gear-heads turned loose in a facility that has every possible tool needed to make…well… anything! It’s an environment conducive to creating great products for sure. Thriving in this environment, our R&D technicians continually raise the bar on what the definition of

a pipe can be. Our methodology is the key. The Yoshimura design process is simple and has never varied since the beginning of the company: Make the best parts possible, and never compromise.

The process takes as long as it takes. When the finished pipe is right, everyone knows it and the design is locked up and goes to manufacturing. But you can’t put a clock on making the best pipes, you just have to make them. We may not always have every pipe for every bike on a dealer’s shelf the day after the new models are released, but that is only because we take our time and do it right.

Research and Development

If you love what you do, people will take notice. Yoshimura ships out upwards of 6,000 pipes a month all around the world. With our dedication to quality, producing that many exhaust pipes is quite a daunting task, but our manufacturing group, led by Brad Stephens, pulls it off with aplomb.

The detail, the handwork, and the old-world craftsmanship that goes into making a Yoshimura product are impossible to replicate with a machine. So, this means we have to be on our game to coordinate planning, scheduling, and manufacturing. The manufacturing building is buzzing with “build orders” every single day of the year.

With all the noise and all the tools, you might think this is a standard shop. But the people at work here are artists, and the exhausts they produce are nothing short of works of art. All these talented people, noisy tools, and raw metal come together to form the best exhaust systems in the world.

Manufacturing

Page 11: 2010 Yoshimura Book of Speed

18 19

Yoshimura ExhaustsYoshimura started as an engine-building shop, but our exhaust pipes quickly became the mainstay of our business. And really, engines and exhaust systems are more closely linked than the casual observer might think. The engine’s ability to produce power is determined by how quickly it can expel spent gasses. Therefore, exhaust systems are the easiest way to make your motorcycle’s engine perform better.

In the early days of aftermarket exhaust development, there was a focus on just making a larger-diameter header pipe with a small (and consequently loud) muffler. These were the days of straight pipes and megaphone mufflers.

As motorcycle engine technology advanced, so have exhaust systems. Today, Yoshimura has invested millions of dollars in manufacturing equipment to ensure that we’re on the cutting edge of technology. Where tubes used to be cut with hack saws and bent by hand over a torch, now we have CNC cut-off saws to accurately cut pipes to length while multi-level CNC tube benders shape pipes to exact specifications.

Despite all this high-tech equipment and some use of computer-controlled robot welding machines, one constant that has been with us from the start remains at Yoshimura: Our pipes are welded by hand. All the high-tech gadgets and tools in the world can’t replicate the quality and the incredible performance our racing and R&D groups build into our exhausts. Our TIG welds have even been described as art! The bottom line is Yoshimura pipes are built at a quality level that few other companies can match.

R-77 Trapezoidal ConeThe R-77’s trapezoidal shape is serious business when it comes to performance. This pipe was designed from racetrack feedback from racers Tommy Hayden and Blake Young, so not only does this pipe look great, it does great things for a motorcycle. The R-77 delivers better performance overall because because of the large volume of packing material in it, courtesy of that trapezoidal shape. The sound coming from this pipe is perfect—not loud, but definitely throaty.

With a straight baffle and removable low-volume insert, the R-77 muffler’s front cap is MIG-welded, while the end cap is riveted using high-end 304-L polished stainless steel rivets and bands. You can get the muffler either in stainless steel, titanium, or race-inspired carbon fiber.

The cone end caps come in either polished stainless steel or carbon fiber, and the Slip-on itself is mounted with a stainless steel mounting clamp. You can make this pipe your own with all these choices.

The R-77 comes as a Slip-on muffler, which attaches simply onto the stock exhaust mounting slip-fit, or on various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.

R-55 Tapered Tri-OvalThe R-55 is currently one of Yoshimura’s most popular pipes, and for good reason. It’s a hybrid of Moto-GP, Superbike, and Yoshimura style, which makes for a pretty impressive package. Its asymmetrical shape appeals to the eye and really captures the spirit of Moto-GP racing. It also complements the look of any sportbike, following the race-inspired lines of today’s motorcycles.

The R-55 features a straight baffle with a removable low-volume insert. The pipe is TIG-welded to Yoshimura quality standards, and its made of high-quality 304-L polished stainless steel. From there, you have the option of a polished stainless steel or carbon fiber end cap. The laser mounting bracket is TIG welded to ensure strength and good looks.

You can get the R-55 as a Slip-on muffler, which attaches simply to the stock exhaust mounting slip-fit, or on our various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.

TRI Dual Tip Tri-OvalDeveloped in Japan by Fujio Yoshimura, the TRI is a race-bred full exhaust system. It features a handsome dual outlet, turndown titanium-tipped muffler that produces a unique sound note that is pleasing to the ears. The dual outlets and overall design make the TRI visually pleasing, as well. Many of our customers believe that the dual outlet tips combine with the Tri-Oval shape make the TRI one of the most eye-catching pipes on the market. We’re not going to argue with that.

The TRI full systems feature 304-L polished stainless steel MIG-welded construction, with titanium and carbon muffler sleeve options. There are high-exit applications available for select models.

TRC UndertailLooking to dress up your bike with a good-looking muffler? The TRC Undertail pipes are designed for motorcycles where space is at a premium, such as the Yamaha R-1 and Ducati 848.

Thanks to the well thought out, compact design of the TRC Undertails, the mufflers are able to tuck in and complement the lines of sportbikes, adding to the overall aesthetic of the machine. But they don’t just look good! The TRC Undertails make great horsepower, and we know you expect nothing less from Yoshimura. The mufflers are available in titanium, stainless steel and carbon fiber.

The TRC Undertails are available as Slip-on, Full System, and ¾ System. They also come with a low-volume insert and carbon fiber end caps.

RS-3 OvalThe RS-3 is the epitome of a Yoshimura exhaust: it’s race bred and has the unmistakable Yoshimura sound and look. The RS-3 is also one of our most popular exhausts because it’s a reasonably priced alternative to some of our more “exotic” mufflers. The RS-3 has the classic good looks that is preferred by many riders, and just like every single pipe we make, the RS-3 packs a whole lot of performance into an attractive package.

The RS-3 mufflers feature a straight baffle that leads to a single turn-down tipped aluminum end cap. The oval-shaped muffler is capable of housing a low-volume Yoshimura insert.

Muffler sleeve options for the RS-3 include 304-L polished stainless steel, titanium and carbon fiber. A high-exit option is available for select bike models. The RS-3 comes as a Bolt-on or Slip-on muffler, and of course attaches simply onto the OEM (stock) exhaust mounting slip-fit or mounting flange. It can also attach to various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.RS-3C Oval

The RS-3 has been one of Yoshimura’s signature exhaust systems for years. This staple of our pipe lineup has been given a little twist, and now we have the RS-3C. It has the same classic shape as the ever-popular RS-3, but with a carbon fiber end cap to give it that trick look.

The RS-3C features 304-L polished stainless steel MIG-welded construction with stainless sleeve option and slick carbon cone end cap. It’s available in Slip-on or Bolt-on configurations. The RS-3C is also offered in carbon and titanium muffler sleeve options, but only for the 2008-2009 GSX1300R Hayabusa.

TRS Single Tip Tri-OvalThe TRS offers the best of Yoshimura, and is a reasonably priced alternative to our pricier configurations. It’s a race-bred muffler that has the clear look and sound of Yoshimura, so the friendlier price tag doesn’t mean we skimped on the performance or style.

The TRS has a straight baffle that leads to a single machined turn down tip, 304-L polished stainless steel end cap. The tri-oval shape of the muffle is capable of accepting an optional low-volume insert.

Available in three different configurations, the TRS comes in 304-L polished stainless, titanium, carbon fiber. It’s also available in high-exit on select models.

The TRS comes as a Bolt-on or Slip-on muffler, which attach easily onto the OEM (stock) exhaust mounting slip-fit or mounting flange or on various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.

TRC Tri Oval ConeThe TRC is second to none! It’s a race-proven exhaust featuring a tri-oval design, trick cone-shaped end cap, and an easily removable low-volume insert.

The TRC has a straight baffle leading to that distinct cone-shaped end cap. The cap is available in stainless steel or carbon. The muffler is available in your choice of 304-L polished stainless steel, carbon fiber, or titanium. Both titanium and carbon fiber sleeves come with carbon fiber end caps for a truly sporty look. With an optional low-volume insert, the TRC also comes with a laser-etched heel guard that combines style and function.

Available in either Bolt-on or Slip-on configuration, the TRC attaches simply onto the OEM (stock) exhaust mounting slip-fit or mounting flange. It’s also available on various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.

RS-5 UndertailThis is one popular exhaust. The RS-5 Undertail’s trapezoidal-shaped muffler has a round outlet configuration that give the already potent muffler more power and a look that everyone loves.

The RS-5 is available either as a Slip-on or a Full Exhaust System, and the mufflers include a low-volume insert. The RS-5 muffler options are stainless steel, carbon fiber, or titanium sleeve material, and all configurations come with a carbon fiber end cap.

TRC-DOne of our newest creations, The TRC-D features a striking dual-outlet, turndown stainless tipped muffler with a spiffy carbon fiber cone cap. The dual taper exhaust manages sound in both high-flow and high-power applications, and the sound output equals happy ears and fast lap times on the track.

The TRC-D boasts 304-L polished stainless steel, MIG-welded construction with stainless, carbon, and titanium muffler sleeve options.

The TRC-D is available as a Bolt-on or Slip-on muffler, and it attaches simply onto the OEM (stock) exhaust mounting slip-fit or mounting flange. It also matches well with various full Yoshimura exhaust systems.

Yoshimura Full Exhaust Systems were great in the beginning, and more than fifty years later, we’re still building on that solid foundation Pops and the boys built by providing unparalleled power, performance and quality.

Now, the only real difference is that Yoshimura’s Slip-on and Bolt-on sales are greater than they were in the early era. While recreational riders are satisfied with just a tailpipe, the serious riders want the guts and glory of a Yoshimura full system exhaust.

Just like everything we do, our Full Systems are designed with nothing but power in mind. Our years of experience and knowledgeable R&D technicians combine to make remarkable

pipes. Add to that our inventory of more pipe bending tooling than anyone one in the business, which allows us to make tiny or large bends wherever and whenever our technicians need them, and we’ve got ourselves a surefire way to make the best products available.

The list of Yoshimura innovations is long, and lesser pipe companies are rediscovering some of those lessons right now. Take for example our duplex systems, which have been around for more than 35 years. Suddenly, other companies are just now making a “splash” with technology we’ve been perfecting for years. What they don’t know is there is no substitute for Yoshimura’s incredible quality and attention to detail.

ukiSuzuki PipesThere sure are a lot of Suzuki pipes in this catalog. While that has a lot to do with Yoshimura and Suzuki having a long and winning relationship on the racetrack, the amount of Yosh pipes available is also representative of the plethora of quality products Suzuki makes.

The Suzuki motorcycle fleet is simply amazing. From the GSX-R lineup to the jaw-dropping Hayabusa, Suzuki is focused solely on making drool-worthy and winning motorcycles. The best part is that they never rest on their laurels.

With all the updates Suzuki has made recently (the Gladius is pretty awesome, and the all-new GSX-R1000 cannot be beat), the entire lineup is outstanding. If you are a Suzuki fan or owner, you no doubt know about the special kinship Suzuki and Yoshimura have solidified with years of racing and winning.

The “Busa” is wrapped in myth and mystery, but the honest truth is that it’s an unmistakable powerhouse. The quality and the performance of the Hayabusa have made it a legend in its own time.

This motorcycle is white-knuckle fast, but it’s also easy on the eyes and actually quite easy and enjoyable to ride. It’s just good at everything, and it appeals to every kind of rider. Drag racers love it, sport bike guys can’t get enough of it, sport tourers are into it, urban bikers demand it, and it’s even found a following in the Bonneville Salt Flats racers. Due to its wide appeal, Yoshimura makes more models of exhausts for the Hayabusa than any other motorcycle.

From the RS-3C to the TRI dual outlet full exhaust systems, we have the pipe for your ’Busa. No matter which pipe you chose for your bike, they are all made with the same high quality, high performance, and careful craftsmanship in mind. Yoshimura’s attention to detail and dedication to quality is famous, and our pipes for the Hayabusa reinforce that legend.

The drive and talent of Mladin mixed with the skills of the team and the incredible minds of the Suzuki engineering staff in Japan has made a name for itself: Domination.

The GSX-R1000 has been the bike to beat for some time, and Yoshimura leads the way with innovative products for this winning motorcycle. We make every kind of exhaust system imaginable for this big Suzuki Superbike, and rest assured that the pipes’ performance is unrivaled. Just look at our track record for the last decade of racing, and you’ll see why Yoshimura exhausts are the way to go if you own a GSX-R.

Racing Superbikes gives us an in depth understanding of the way this machine works. How that translates to the real world of motorcycling is that Yoshimura knows how to design the best possible pipe for this bike. The performance is tested every time we race…and we race a lot.

GSX-R750 with Stainless/Stainless R-55

GSX-R750The last standing 750cc sport bike brings to light the best that motorcycling has to offer. Nearly identical to the GSX-R600 but with a lot more horsepower, the GSX-R750 has a high-performance engine in a lightweight frame. The end result is a great power to weight ratio, making this a very fast bike. But let’s not forget the most important part, and that’s the fun factor. This bike is really fast, but it still has the maneuverability of the smaller 600. Now that’s fun.

Because they’re similar, the 2008-2009 GSX-R750 and 600 share pipes. So, all the options for one fit the other. During testing, the same specifications worked best on both bikes, which is pretty handy as far as we’re concerned.

Checkout our full range of accessories including Case Savers, Carbon Fiber Heat Shields, Bar Ends, Chassis Protectors, and Adjustable Rearsets.

GSX-R600This is the most popular Suzuki motorcycle, and for good reason. It’s fun, handles well, and looks sharp. Despite the fact that it’s often described by the casual-sounding word “fun,” when it comes to performance this bike is all business. Just check the corner speeds and lap times, and you’ll see this machine is plenty fast.

Yoshimura’s exhaust products for the 600 are tirelessly tested and unequaled in quality. We dedicate so much time testing the pipes for this bike that we almost always wear through one dyno tire in the process. From blazing Full Duplex systems to the broad pulling power delivery of our Slip-ons, you’ll get the performance you demand from the Yoshimura and Suzuki collaboration.

The Bandit 1250 is a stylish sport-tourer, and with the addition of a Yoshimura exhaust, it’s easy to understand why this is a rider favorite. The Bandit is considered to be the ultimate street fighter, thanks to its understated looks and big-power engine. Once mated to a Yoshimura exhaust, the engine is capable of eye-bulging acceleration. The classic looks of our RS-3 work well with the Bandit’s styling, as do the R-77 and TRS systems. Any of these exhausts make this bike a true winner.

Gladius SVF650One of the coolest-looking bikes to hit the streets in recent years, the Gladius SVF650 is based on the SV 650 engine but with a markedly cooler exterior and features. This bike turns heads.

Yoshimura has build a great R-55 Slip-on for this motorcycle that shaves off a great deal of weight and really wakes up the power. The R-55 accentuates the smooth, rounded lines and sets off the compact trellis frame and European Gladius styling.

The R-55 and the R-77 both pump up the power of this bike. What you’ll get is better throttle response and overall power that is the benefit of all our Yoshimura pipes.

SV650The SV650 is a good time bike that makes zipping around town fun, but it’s also a worthy steed on the racetrack. Add to it one of our TRS or RS-3 exhausts, and this “flickable” twin engine can be a lot of fun to take laps with. Yoshimura pipes improve the bottom-end torque of the SV 650, along with giving more over-rev and improving the overall power. To top it off, a Yosh pipe adds to the overall looks while shaving off some weight.

SV650 with Stainless TRS

GSX650FIs this a mild-mannered motorcycle or race-driven fire breather? How about both! The GSX650F offers the best of both worlds.

With an R-77 or TRC Slip-on exhaust, this bike becomes downright snappy and very attentive to your power needs. In addition to improved performance, our Slip-on pipes bring about some big weight savings and add some “cool factor.” Take it to the track and you’ll feel just like a champion.

GS500The GS500 is a calm, efficient, smart motorcycle perfect for the casual rider looking to commute or run errands. But we can change that. Add a Yoshimura TRS Slip-on pipe to this machine, zip up your race leathers, and you’re ready to roll on the track. You might not beat the likes of Tommy Hayden without some other serious upgrades, but the Yoshimura TRS pipe really gives this motorcycle a kick in the pants. It boosts power output and increases the fun factor.

If you’ve got a DR-Z400SM, you’ve got options when it comes to exhausts. The RS-2 single-sided system pictured here is a great all-around pipe that’s lightweight, has good ground clearance, and gives you big power gains. And it looks cool. If that’s not enough, it comes with the little touches and features you’ve come to expect from Yoshimura. It has a plasma-cut heat shield with our Yoshimura logo, high-quality chrome steel exhaust springs, and even spring vibration dampers with the Yoshimura logo molded in. While Travis Pastrana loves this pipe for Super Motard racing the SM, his sometimes teammate Kevin Schwantz prefers the “Twice Pipes.” Kevin feels that they are a big advantage, though we can’t pinpoint exactly what that means. Regardless, they certainly look cool because they are completely fabricated by hand and TIG welded. They are the “high end” pipes for the mighty SM.

DR-Z400SM Dual MufflersThe DR-Z400SM, which is based on the DR-Z400S dual-sport, has been a surprising hit in the motorcycle market. It’s easy to see why, thanks to the bike’s talent for combining fun factor, great styling, and a low price point. Yoshimura has a lot of experience with this motorcycle and its engine, so we know where the hidden potential lies.

Yoshimura has built up some really super Super Motard DRZs piloted by riders such as Kevin Schwantz and Travis Pastrana. Our original engine specs came from our factory WORCS racing efforts with the DR-Z400 dirt bike, but things got really interesting (and fun) when we hit the Motard scene. Schwantz loved the way Nabe’s “Twice-Pipes” worked and he swears by them. He loves the looks of these pipes, and we can’t argue so we’ve made them available to you.

Yoshimura’s Undertail Slip-ons are the perfect setup for this hot-looking bike. The Undertail R1 twin TRC-Ds are works of art, and we’d readily argue that the Yoshimura TRC-D’s are by far the best looking R1 pipes on the market.

i Kawasaki ZX-14It doesn’t get any badder than this! Kawasaki’s ZX-14 is in direct competition with the Suzuki Hayabusa in the world of big, fast motorcycles. Who’s number one in power? We’ll let you decide that, but Yoshimura makes a whole bunch of performance exhausts for both machines. Ripping fast quarter mile times and acceleration are the lure of the ZX-14, but despite that, the motorcycle is still a pretty easy bike to ride. Yoshimura exhaust Slip-ons and Full Systems are built with a linear power delivery in mind, because it’s hard to go fast when you are fighting abrupt, “light switch” power delivery. Yoshimura exhausts provide just the right blend of power and rideability.

A full line of R77 and TRC Exhaust Full Systems are available from Yoshimura, and they are guaranteed to wake up your bike…and you. Our duplex headers have superior mid-range performance and linear torque curves for lots of usable power. The R77’s carbon end caps or the stylishly vented caps of the TRCs top off our Full Systems, providing a great combination of style and function.

Kawasaki 650RWith the same powerplant as the 6n, the 650R has seen an overhaul in the last two years. Its evolution gives it the same benefits as the 6n with the addition of our underbelly muffler. With a Yoshimura pipe attached to your 650R, you’ll have the quality, fit, and the power you want.

The pipe options for the “R” come in the form of two awesome Slip-ons that boost performance and power. The TRC comes in both stainless/stainless or in carbon fiber/stainless setup. Either way, they improve the power and the looks of this motorcycle. The TRS Slip-on is also available for this machine. Whichever Yoshimura exhaust you choose for the 650R, you’ll definitely feel the difference, see improvement, and love the quality.

Kawasaki ER-6nThe parallel twin-cylinder engine on this trellis-framed machine really reacts to our Yoshimura pipes. This new and nimble bike is even more fun with a little extra power and a healthy weight reduction down low.

The TRC pipes in stainless/stainless or carbon/stainless Slip-ons are great matches for the 6n, giving the bike a power boost just where you want it. Plus they look sweet. There’s also the TRS stainless Slip-on with the Tri-Oval design and turn-down end cap.

Kawasaki VersysThe Yoshimura exhaust adds a touch of style to an exciting new bike from Kawasaki. The Versys already stands out in a crowd, but adding Yoshimura performance, styling, and sound to an all-around great bike definitely ups the “wow” factor.

Yoshimura’s Slip-ons for the Versys don’t just look great on the bike—they make the bike even greater than it already is with smooth power delivery and better performance. The TRS Slip-ons come in stainless/stainless and they look as far-out and futuristic as the Versys itself. The TRC and TRC-D stainless Slip-on is also available, albeit with more conventional looks.

asakiKawasaki ZX-6RThe ZX-6R is another great selection in the lineup of MotoGP-inspired bikes. It’s super lightweight with a really low center of gravity, which gives it great handling characteristics. The ZX-6R uses a short side muffler that lowers weight distribution and helps centralize the weight, which makes it maneuverable and confidence inspiring. But why stop there? Yoshimura takes it one step further by offering plenty of pipe configurations to make the ZX-6R uniquely your own. The R77, RS-4, and TRC mufflers offer increased performance, less weight, and greater mass centralization. Plus, all of the systems we make for this machine look and sound great, which is important as well.

All of Yoshimura’s pipe configurations improve an already strong powerband. The Ninja comes with a lot of bottom-end torque and smooth throttle response, and Yoshimura adds top end and power across the board without sacrificing the engine’s linear power delivery. If you want our opinion, we don’t think you can beat the titanium/carbon R77 Slip-on.

In conjunction with the improvements to our already awesome TRCs, we’ve developed exhaust products for the littlest Ninja that are matched to the style and performance of the 249cc parallel twin. No joke—this thing really screams with one of our TRC exhausts bolted up!

Our Slip-on TRC muffler is one good-looking pipe. It comes in titanium, stainless, or carbon fiber sleeve, all with a carbon fiber end cap that looks great with all of the three sleeve options. To top it off, a laser-cut tailpipe heat shield is added to complete the high-quality pipe.

If Slip-ons aren’t your bag, Yoshimura’s Full Systems include a TRC muffler in stainless, titanium or carbon fiber. They’re matched to a stainless steel header and tailpipe, topped off with the laser-cut tailpipe heat shield. As with all Yoshimura exhaust products, the design complements the lines of the Ninja. The Ninja 250 with a TRC is more fun than should be allowed!

Note: Yoshimura highly recommends jetting with an exhaust modification on this motorcycle for both the slip-on and full-system exhausts. Our testing was done with the Dynojet Jet Kit PN: 2193, and it works great!

Case SaversYoshimura Case Savers are designed to reduce damage to the OEM engine case in the event of a light crash or scrape. They are just enough to help get you back to the pits (or back home) without having to worry about losing oil.

Developed with CAD software, the Yoshimura Case Savers are CNC machined from high quality billet 6061-T6 Aluminum; designed to keep your bike light while providing great strength. Each Case Saver features a machined Yoshimura logo and our distinctive Yoshimura MagnasonianTM finish to improve durability and looks.

Yoshimura Case Savers are easy to install in minutes, without any need to remove the factory engine case covers, gaskets or fairings. The fit is precise and the quality typical Yoshimura.

Each kit comes complete with a left and right Case Saver, durable high grade hardware, detailed installation instructions and Yoshimura Decals.

Chassis ProtectorsYoshimura chassis protectors help minimize damage from sliding type falls. The plastic construction is soft enough to slow slides and will wear down slowly… but they are tough enough to keep the track away from your bike in most cases. The protectors are not only functional but they look cool and let people know you know what the sides of your tires are for.

DR-Z400SM PartsYoshimura has a long history with the DR-Z400SM that started way back when with the venerable DRZ400s that we raced in the WORCS series. We actually won a few titles with these bikes in the hands of riders like Mike Kiedrowski, Steve Hatch and Rodney Smith.

Soon, our DRZs became legendary as first our cams and ignitions were developed and then the legendary 450 “Stroker” kit. Many fans still remember seeing the boys hitting well over 115 mph at the Elsinore Grand Prix and other events. The power of the Yoshimura Big Bore DRZs was truly arm stretching.

Then GP legend and perennial go-fast guy Kevin Schwantz called and asked us to build him a Super Motard bike. We had a great time building up these bikes and Kevin had a lot of success in the new sport. The sight of him charging WFO in a full lock power-slide, the “twice pipes” screaming out in anger, all the while showcasing the inimitable style that is…Kevin Schwantz… great stuff.

YRS has opened its doors to a lot of the products we make for these famous racers. Some are simple, some are pretty exotic – but all of them are a great complement to an already great motorcycle… The Suzuki DR-Z400SM.

Engine Mount KitPart # 2166-820-K

Dress up the engine area of your DRZ while losing weight at the same time. Yoshimura Engine Mount Kit comes with everything you need for simple bolt on assembly.

Rear Axle Adjuster BlocksPart # 2166-800-K

There is nothing more frustrating then trying to adjust your chain with “Cheesy” OEM style axle blocks. Not only are the OEM units alignment marks suspect; but the overall quality of them is also sub-par. The Yoshimura units look great, are lighter, accurate and stronger. It goes without saying that legendary Yoshimura quality is built into every set of our adjuster blocks as well.

CNC Machined from 6061 T6 alloy•Lighter and stronger than stock•Distinctive Yoshimura Magnasonian• TM finishMachined Yoshimura Logo•

Rear Brake ClevisPart # 2166-860-K

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. The Yoshimura Clevis is precision engineered to provide the rider with improved braking “feel”. Obviously, when backing a bike into a corner trying to pass another rider “Feel” becomes an important thing! Slightly stiffer then the OEM Clevis plus a buttery-smooth action produces the previously mentioned superior feel and consistency over stock.

Stronger and lighter than the stock unit•Smoother brake action •Better brake pedal feel•CNC machined from 6061 T6 alloy•Laser etched Yoshimura logo•Distinctive Yoshimura Magnasonian• TM finish

Crankshaft Inspection Plug Part # 2166-911-K

We love these things! Instead of hassling with a puny Allen wrench, and digging dirt out of its receptacle, we machined in a beefy 17mm recessed socket head into our plug so that you can actually apply some torque and inspect the crank! And yeah... they look very spiffy too.

We could claim that the 14mm recessed socket head bolt is much easier to use than stock, but really, this one is just for looks! Shhhhhh don’t tell anyone.

Bar EndsPart # R-K3130 Silver R-K3131 Black

Again, reducing weight up high is important. And the looks of our bar ends is great. Really dresses up your DR-ZSM. The Yoshimura logos also let the world know that you are serious about going fast… and that you have extraordinarily good taste.

CNC machined•Anodized finish•Lighter than the stock units•

Steering Stem NutPart # 2166-810-K

Without going into “Polar Moments”, “centralized mass coefficients”, and overall “C of G” theories, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out having great big steel nuts way up high on your DRZ is a bad thing. In addition to the light weight of our Stem Nut- it is also drilled so that you can wire it on. Anyone who has ever tried to drill a stock unit for wiring, can attest to how much fun that can be. Also, anyone who has ever had their front end being held on by the cables after the stock nut goes bouncing down the track , can also testify as to how much fun that experience can be.

CNC Machined from 6061 T6 alloy•Stronger and lighter than the stock steel unit•Pre drilled for safety wire•Laser etched Yoshimura logo•Distinctive Yoshimura Magnasonian• TM finish

Case SaversPart # 2166-840-K

Let’s face it, it’s not if you are going to low-side occasionally, it’s more like when. Keeping this in mind along with the prices of new case covers etc. we developed these awesome Case Savers that greatly reduce damage in a low-side. The DR-ZSM water pump cover is especially is especially susceptible to damage. Again, these parts are cheap insurance and they look good at the same time.

Full Race HarnessAfter getting your bike race ready by removing the unnecessary electrical components, what do you do with all those empty outlets on your stock wiring harness? You can’t leave them dangling to snag on moving parts or your leathers! We have your solution... a Full Race Harness for the Suzuki GSX-R!

Yoshimura’s Full Race Harness maintains what is necessary to race the bike. It eliminates the outlets for lights, turn signals, horns, switches, etc., thus providing a lighter and more simple harness to work with. In racing, every bit counts and so does your safety.

This Full Race Harness is necessary when running the EM Pro on a race bike and allows you to utilize all the EM Pro’s features, including theClutchlessUpshiftoptionor“QuickShift”.

ScootersIt’s been two years since Yoshimura R&D of America, the world’s premiere manufacturer of aftermarket motorycle and ATV exhaust systems, entered the fast-growing scooter market and changed everything! Scooters today are cutting-edge technological wonders, but Yoshimura takes them to the next level!

We offer 2 great muffler options: The popular TRC style is available in Stainless and Stainless with a Carbon Fiber end cap for both durability and looks. It is also available in a Carbon Fiber Sleeve with Carbon Fiber end-cap for the “racer” look.

For larger displacement models like the new Yamaha T-Max 500, the R-77 is a great choice. The R-77 is available in both a Full Stainless and Carbon Fiber / Stainless configuration.

Yoshimura scooter exhaust systems reduce weight by 2.5 pounds over most OEM systems, provide a sporty look, and most importantly have a cool Yoshimura exhaust tone.

Motocross/Off-R

oad/ATV

Dirt bikes have created their own diverse universe that’s comprised of many different racing disciplines. Yoshimura likes to focus on the three main categories of Off-Road Bikes, Motocross Racing, and Supercross Racing.

With such a wide array of bikes and uses, Yoshimura makes a pipe for virtually every dirt bike need. We have raced and won in all categories, making us knowledgeable in the ways of giving dirt bikes more power and performance. Currently we are racing with Rockstar Makita Suzuki as well as the Red Bull Honda Factory team in Motocross/Supercross, as well as a huge support team of professional and amateur racers across the country.

A perfect example of how racing improves the breed are our RS-4 Honda pipes. Thorough testing and development efforts in conjunction with the factory team have provided us new ways to increase performance, lower sound levels, and centralize mass. The end result is the best product for our customers. All our racing endeavors work hand in hand with our goal to make superior products. Building pipes for a factory race effort improves our research and development, which improves the overall performance of our products, all while building the reputation of our company. Bringing

technology we learn on the track to our consumer products is what has made the Yoshimura name synonymous with quality and performance.

Yoshimura delved into the world of ATV racing full force a few years ago, and has reaped the rewards with numerous championships and countless race wins. Riders like Doug Gust, Dustin Wimmer, Jeremiah Jones, Chad Wienen, Kory Ellis, William Yokely, Doug Eichner, and Chris Borich have all played a big part in our growth. Yoshimura is a proud to have played a role in bringing factory racing back to the great sport of ATV racing.

Here we’ll showcase the products that the above-named racers helped us to create with their wealth of knowledge and priceless input. Racing breeds products, not the other way around. So what Yoshimura learns on the racetrack is transferred to our customers via our race-influenced products.

Next time you find yourself at a Supercross or an ATV or MX National and see the big Yoshimura trucks out here, remember that we aren’t just racing for fun. We are hard at work developing new products for you! The “fun” we’re having is just a byproduct of our job.

RS-2 Comp Series Slip-onThe RS-2 is a potent and versatile pipe that evolved from our original TRC design. With a different pyramidal shape that features increased volume, the RS-2 is a quieter system with a larger core. The bottom line is it features increased power and power delivery.

The diamond-shaped hi-volume muffler comes with a 96dB spark arrested insert. Other optional inserts available are a motocross 99dB non-spark arrested insert and a 94dB motocross non-spark arrested. The stainless tailpipe bolts right onto the stock header, and the muffler comes with an aluminum canister.

RS-3D Comp Series Slip-onThe RS-3D has stainless/aluminum muffler construction with stainless end caps and a 96dB spark-arrested insert. There are also optional inserts available, including the motocross 99dB non-spark arrested insert, and 94dB motocross non-spark arrested. The pipe features a stainless tail-pipe that bolts right onto the stock header for easy installation.

Mini RS-2 Comp Series Full SystemThe mini RS-2 features a stainless header with either an aluminum or carbon fiber sleeved muffler. Deep-draw stainless end caps have a spark-arrested tip, and the 96dB sound rating is ear pleasing yet quiet.

RS-4 Comp Series Slip-onBehold the technological marvel that is the RS-4. It features a Yoshimura duplex chamber that cancels out negative exhaust pulses and acts as a sort of mechanical baffle before the actual perforated baffle area. What this does is improve the power while lowering the sound emission.

This pipe has a stainless/aluminum muffler construction with a carbon fiber tip and a 96dB spark-arrested insert. Other optional inserts available for this pipe are a motocross 99dB non-spark arrested version, and a 94dB motocross non-spark arrested. The stainless tailpipe bolts right onto the stock header for easy installation.

RS-5 Comp Series Slip-onThe deep, pleasing sound of the RS-5 is due to its four-sided trapezoidal muffler shape. The unique shape is aggressive looking and detailed, and it accentuates the lines of the Suzuki LT-R450 like no other pipe. But there’s more to this pipe than mere good looks. The high-flow, straight-through baffle design allows for maximum performance, while the 409 stainless steel internals add durability and strength.

The stainless/aluminum hi-volume muffler comes with a 96dB spark-arrested insert, but other options include a motocross 99dB non-spark arrested insert, and a 94dB motocross non-spark arrested or off-road spark arrested insert. The stainless tailpipe slips right onto the stock header, and the muffler comes with aluminum canister.

RM-Z450The fuel-injected RM-Z450 took the motocross world by storm when it was released a few years ago. Racers love the handling, the precise steering, and especially that fuel-injected snap this Suzuki delivers. The RM-Z has seen the checkered flag quite a lot…simply put, it’s a winner! It is a great all-around bike with solid low- to mid-range power, and it has been updated across the board for 2010. Our Yoshimura RS-4 Slip-ons and Full Systems turn the RM-Z into a full-on race machine with even more of that sought-after, moto-winning linear power.

Honda

CRF-450RThe CRF-450R has a lot of desirable attributes — centralized mass, a killer fuel-injected engine, and all sorts of other cool stuff. Honda really should be proud of this bike…but that doesn’t mean it can’t benefit from a little of that Yoshimura magic.

Since Yoshimura is the official supplier to the Honda Red Bull factory Motocross/Supercross team, we didn’t hold back when it came to making the best for this bike. The new RS-4 features a duplex resonance chamber and massive internal pipe tapers, and the canister comes in 99 and 94dB convertible configurations. The end result is a quiet yet powerful pipe. The RS-4 is the “must-have” add-on for the Honda 450.

That’s not all we do for the CRF-450R. Yoshimura’s famous Peripheral Interface Module (PIM) unit controls the fuel in this bike. With a PIM installed, the rider can have instant custom tuning to get the most out of the Yoshimura pipe, and to get the perfect setup for any riding condition.

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

CRF-250RHonda sure does know how to make a great bike, and the 250 is no exception. This bike delivers everything you could want on two wheels, and our titanium RS-4 system with carbon can up the ante. They are mechanical works of art! In addition to good looks, they save weight and just plain rip. The RS-4 is also available as a Slip-on. They are AMA legal at 94dB, and they build on the Yoshimura reputation of more than 50 years of building quality pipes.

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

Honda CRF-150R

The water-cooled little brother to the 250R, the CRF-150R responds well to Yoshimura’s RS-2 Full system and Slip-ons. What you’ll get is a big power increase through the middle and a ton of over-rev, which make the 150 a blast.

CRF-50RThis is the most popular mini bike, and Yoshimura makes an RS-2 Mini and a TRC Tri-Oval mini full system for it. The pipes are light and have that undeniable, easily identifiable throaty Yoshimura exhaust note. If that’s not enough for you, we also have a Power Up Engine kit for this bike.

CRF-80RSpliced directly from the DNA of the Honda XR75, the CRF-80R has been around for a long time in various forms and different names. The best part is that this bike is just as much fun as it is now as it was decades ago. Add on our TRS full system to make it even better.

CRF-100RThe all-around trail bike CRF-100R is an entry-level bike that capitalizes on its size to up the fun factor. Add in a little Yosh magic, and you’ve got yourself a rip-roaring time. We make a TRS full system and a round full system.

YZ-450FThe YZ-450F has more centralized mass, great suspension, and fuel injection, which make it a very rideable and very successful machine. The only way to improve upon this bike is to put on a Yoshimura RS-4 Pro Series Full System. This race-winning machine benefits from having our RS-4 Pro aboard, as it’s simply the single best bolt-on exhaust you can buy to enhance your riding experience.

YZ-250FThe YZ-250F is an incredible machine. Recently voted the Best 250 by Motocross Action Magazine, the YZ-250F has set the standard for 250s since 2001. When Yamaha unleashed the first four-stroke 250cc race bike, it set the world on fire. We know from first-hand experience because we supported Larry Ward on a YZ-250F back when he rode for the Moto XXX racing team.

Today, our engineers have logged countless dyno hours to extract every last bit of raw horsepower from the Yamaha 250. The end result is a Yoshimura exhaust that is perfectly balance to mate with an already fierce engine. You will like the results.Y

PIM-2Yoshimura introduces PIM-2, the evolution of our original Dirt Bike/ATV fuel injection adjustment “PIM” device. PIM-2 installs easily, typically in under 30-minutes using simple Plug-n-Play technology. Plug the PIM-2 into the stock wiring harness, mount to your bike using the supplied mounting kit, and you are ready to race! The PIM comes pre-loaded with two separate fuel injection maps for either a Yoshimura Slip-on or Full Exhaust System.

The adjustability is limitless and easy. If the two supplied maps are not enough - there are dozens of free downloadable maps on the Yoshimura website.

No matter what pipe brand or engine modifications you have - we have map downloads on our website that will cover virtually any possibility.

DATA BoxThe DATA Box consists of an air fuel sensor and amplifier box that plugs into the PIM-2, and allows for self-mapping of the motorcycle. Self-mapping means that as the user runs the bike on a dyno or on a closed course, the DATA Box automatically calculates the required fuel adjustment at each RPM and Throttle Position to reach the users selectable target air fuel ratio. The unit simultaneously creates a map that represents optimal air/fuel ratios predicated on the target value that the end user can manually enter. The DATA Box offers an alternative way for mapping without the time or cost of a custom dyno tune. There is nothing easier than simply riding a few laps and then enjoying the downloaded maps efficiency.

The DATA Box Mapping software allows for the user to easily enter the target air fuel ratio, start, stop, and review the results of the self-mapping function. Once the recommended adjustments have been reviewed, the user can either apply all of the suggested adjustments or just a certain range with a few simple clicks of the mouse.

The kit comes with all of the required hardware, but may require modification of the exhaust pipe to accept the air fuel sensor fitting.

QuadRacer R450Yoshimura has a storied history with this quad already, and we just keep winning titles with it. From development to the top of the podium, Yoshimura has been a part of this quad’s success. Having a talented stable of riders such as Wimmer and Borich has helped us dial in this impressive machine.

WithourTitaniumFullSystemandaPIMunitinstalled,thepoweroftheSuzukiQuadRacerR450 is breathtaking. The power delivery aided by the fuel injection system has a solid, linear feel that turns out faster lap times and better control. This quad makes it easy to go fast. Yoshimura has a wide range of engine modifications for those of you who want more out of the R450. Whether you add a Slip-on pipe or a fire-breathing full race system, this is definitely the go-to ATV if winning is on your to-do list.

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

Suzuki QuadSport Z400

Here’s a modern classic that never gets boring. The LT-Z400 performs like a champ…in fact, we won several titles with this quad before the dawn of the 450 race quads. It handles well and is fun, fun, fun to ride. And the best part is the Z400 just keeps getting better. It has fuel injection, and when you add a Yoshimura RS-2 exhaust into the mix, things really get moving. We also offer a PIM-2 unit to make sure the fuel injection is working at

the optimum level. And if you believe bigger is better, check out our 449cc Big Bore Stroker kit (see page 145 for Engine Kits). Now we’re talking about fun!

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

Suzuki LT-Z90Who says good things don’t come in small packages? The LT-Z90 may be small, but when you add a lightweight RS-2 Full you’ve got a recipe for big fun. Whether you’re a full-time Z90 rider or a pit quad enthusiast, you’ll show everyone who’s the king of the 90s with this setup!

All those adventure essentials can be quite heavy, plus factor in the altitude change, and it can make for a quad on the sluggish side. Before your next big adventure, bolt on a RS-2 Slip-on pipe and you’ll notice a significant increase in power and torque.

Honda

Honda TRX450RThis legendary race quad has been a winner since Day One. The Honda 450R has one of the strongest, most reliable engines out there, and when you add an improved exhaust system, things really get cooking. Yoshimura’s Ti-Pro full system works like a charm on the 450: it’s lightweight and wakes up the engine. The Full System and the Ti-Pro Slip-on comes with a 99dB and a 94dB insert, so you can be fast and legal sounding at the same time.H

Honda

Honda TRX700XXThis is one of the most talked-about and anticipated quads to ever be released, but it needs a little wake-up call to really be all it can be. Our RS-2 Slip-on makes that 700XX engine roar and it looks pretty darn cool doing it.

YFZ450R/YFZ450X (not pictured) Everyone loves this quad, thanks to its attentive, fuel-injected engine and lightweight aluminum frame. That’s not to say it can’t get even better with a Yoshimura exhaust and a PIM-2 unit. If you’re looking to give the YFZ450R a kick in the pants with a solid power increase, decreased weight, and legal sound, then the smart choice is one of our pipes. Plus, our styling and impeccable quality bring this quad even closer to perfect.

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

YFZ450We get the feeling that the people at Yamaha know what they’re doing. They’ve sold a lot of YFZ450s throughout the years, and when they released the 50-inch fuel-injected YFZ450R, they wisely kept the original 450 in their lineup. This machine is fun anywhere you want it to take you and its narrow

front end lends itself to navigating tight trails, but it’s also a serious contender on the

track. Add a Yoshimura exhaust system, and this 450 is great!

Yamaha

Raptor 250Sure, it may be small, but the Raptor 250 appeals to every type of ATV rider. It’s an absolute blast to ride, and when you add a Yoshimura pipe the fun multiplies exponentially. This machine is fun in the sand, the woods, or on the track. A Yoshimura pipe will give you the extra power to have more fun on the Raptor 250 than any of your buddies on big quads.

Raptor 700RThe Raptor 700R believes in having fun. It’s considered the king of the sand dunes, but it’s at home anywhere. When you put on a Yoshimura RS-2 full system or slip-on, you amp up the fun in a big way. Our Raptor pipes are some of the best selling ATV exhausts we have, and we built our reputation from the sand dunes of Glamis and Winchester Bay, all the way to the Palmetto groves of Florida. If there’s a Raptor in your life, Yoshimura is the only pipe you should consider.

mKFX450We love a versatile machine. The KFX450 is a fast quad built for anything, thanks to its snappy power, aluminum frame and reverse gear. To make a pipe as versatile as this machine, we enlisted the help of veteran racer Keith Little, who tested it on the tough proving grounds of the ATVA MX Series. We used the architecture of an RS-2 pipe and came up with a strong exhaust that wakes up the KFX with strong linear power across the rpm range.

We recommend the use of Yoshimura PIM units with all full exhaust systems. Details on page 127.

DS 450Can-Am’s DS 450 has a lot of potential on and off the track. As soon as we got our hands on it, we began developing an RS-2 pipe. The design of this ATV’s engine made it easy to come up with a great exhaust system that opens up top- and bottom-end power. Our pipe smooths out the powerband by allowing more over-rev and bridging the gap between the low- and mid-range power in the stock pipe. This one’s a winner.

TMOutlaw 525Polaris made a splash when it introduced the Outlaw 525, and adding a Yoshimura exhaust makes it a great machine. In fact, Yoshimura-supported race legendDougEichnerwonaQuadCrossOpenProChampionshipwiththissetup. We spent the full season working with Doug to develop the pipe and engine settings, and the results speak for themselves. In addition to our RS-2 pipe, Yoshimura also offers all kinds of engine work that opens up this big 525 so it can really rip. The power gain is especially noticeable on big up-hill climbs. If you have a big Polaris Outlaw, call one of our sales technicians for engine work details or simply bolt on an RS-2 and enjoy the ride.

KTM 450SXRelatively new to the scene, the KTM 450SX is pretty darn cool. It comes ready to race right off the showroom floor, and this thing can really go. Once we took a lap or two on this machine, we knew we could make a good thing even better. By improving power output, the RS-2 exhaust is a perfect complement to the KTM. The Yosh pipe provides a bigger hit and extra power to make a pass on the track.

UTV

RS-8These UTV side-by-side slip-ons are manufactured from stainless steel with an aluminum-sleeved muffler. To top them off, they have a deep-draw, polished stainless-steel end cap. For a nice finishing touch, the Yoshimura logo is etched onto the cap. We love innovation, and this muffler embodies that. It has a multi-staged construction, starting with a straight baffle that initially flows into a large-volume, perforated baffle chamber. From there, gases flow into a floating baffle integrated into the end cap. A USFS-approved spark arrestor sits inside that floating baffle, keeping sound levels at 96dB and making the RS-8 trail friendly wherever it goes. To top it off, the overall design of the RS-8 produces big increases in power and torque.

RS-2DThe RS-2D Dual Full System for the Rhino 700 and the Teryx 750 is all about performance. It features durable, high-grade stainless steel headers and mid-pipes with aluminum muffler sleeves. The RS-2D also has a removable USFS-approved 96dB low-volume spark arrestor. The simple-to-follow installation instructions with take you through the steps, and you’ll be ready to go in no time!

Don’t let the lack of name recognition fool you…the Kymco UXV 500, built in China, is on par with the UTVs from the Japanese OEMs. The quality, attention to detail, and performance is all there, and looking at the sales of these machines, side-by-side customers are taking notice. The stock 500 is a bit underpowered, but we can fix that with the addition of an exhaust system!

Teryx 750Kawasaki’s Teryx is one of our go-to machines for our annual Yoshimura fishing expeditions. It has plenty of room to haul gear, plus it handles itself well out in the wilderness. Being the power junkies that we are, we made an RS-8 exhaust for this machine that allows the engine to breathe deeper and produce more power.

ISF ProcessYoshimura has an in-house Isotropic Superfinishing Process (ISF) department, and that’s where we can blueprint your engine’s gear sets just as it’s done on Formula 1 machines. This technology allows your engine run more freely through decreased friction and proper interaction of reciprocating parts.

Years ago, this process was done entirely by hand polishing…which made it extremely cost prohibitive to the average racer. With the updated ISF process, the cost has dropped considerably and the process itself is much improved over what could be done by hand. This is the real deal. The ISF Process works equally well in road racing, ATV racing and motocross/off-road racing applications.

Even though typical ISF treatments include gear sets and internal transmission parts, all the reciprocating parts will benefit from the ISF process. We use this same process on our 240-horsepower Superbike racing engines, as well as 70-horsepower Motocross/ATV racing mills. The mirror-like finish reduces friction on all reciprocating surfaces, reducing drag and increasing durability. It also reduces heat significantly, which makes for a smoother running engine. After ISF treatment, every reciprocating part interacts smoothly and the combined reduction in friction unleashes previously trapped power.

Unleashing trapped power, lowering operating temperatures, and giving your machine that winning feeling is a good thing.

If you want to win, you’ll need the best engine performance you can get. Yoshimura offers three basic levels of engine performance upgrades. Stage 1 is the basic hop-up that best fits the average racer. This is the correct choice if you are racing in the C or B class (beginner or novice). Stage 1 has excellent reliability yet gives the racer a healthy dose of power when used in conjunction with a Yoshimura pipe. Stage 2 is for the racer who is a top contender in the intermediate or B class, ST2A is a completely assembled engine. The compression is upped, the head modified, and a Yoshimura billet cam tops off the Stage 2 list. The increase in compression will require more maintenance, but all in all, the Stage 2 engine kit provides a very strong yet reliable engine. Stage 2A is a completely assembled engine.

Stage 3 is a full-tilt racing engine featuring big horsepower gains. This is the choice for a serious amateur or pro rider who is looking to win and will accept nothing less than the best. Every part of a Stage 3 engine is manicured or modified; even the gear sets and internal transmission parts are polished and matched using our in-house Yoshimura Isotropic Surface Finish Process. Stage 3 is a completely assembled engine.

FIMAK (Fuel Injection Map Adjuster Kit)P/N #R-422

The FIMAK unit gives users of the original PIM unit (not compatible with the new PIM-2 unit), the ultimate in control of fuel management. The FIMAK is a hand-held unit that simply plugs into the original PIM module and makes adjustments to the Yoshimura-supplied base maps stored inside the PIM unit.

The FIMAK allows for +/- percentage adjustment of fuel at various operating points, such as the throttle angle and engine rpm, with a total of 200 mapping points available. Engine rpm adjustment points are available in 500rpm increments and fuel trim is adjustable in 1% increments, with a +/- 20% threshold.

YOSHIMURA-MIKUNI TMR-MJN (24, 26 & 28mm)MJN Carburetor – Theory meets practicality.Fujio Yoshimura figured out a way to create a Multiple Jet Nozzle that would be much more efficient at atomizing fuel. It took a lot of engineering to develop and test the initial prototypes but once dialed in the results were spectacular.

As you can see from the photo- the key is a nozzle which replaces the standard tapered needle. The multiple jets spray a fine mist of fuel, which atomizes much better, thus creating a more efficient burn. In addition, the atomized fuel is centered in the bore of the carburetor thus taking advantage of much higher intake velocities creating even more power and efficiency.

Benefits of the MJN• MJNsystematomizesfuelmuchbetterthanordinary

• Theresultantmoreefficientlyatomizedfuelgivesbetterthrottle response as well as better fuel efficiencies overall.

• Also, theMJNsystemsuppliesthefuelthroughtheMJNnozzle in the center of the bore where air speed is the fastest. This atomizes fuel even better!

Another very important theory of MJN system is when the throttle is shut off and engine braking occurs, very minimal amount of fuel is guided into the intake ports. Therefore remarkably crisp throttle response is obtained, upon corner exit, and transition back to 100% throttle settings.

es Camshafts

Yoshimura has been making high-end camshafts for more than 50 years. We started out designing superbike camshafts, but have since expanded the line of camshafts to include motocross motorcycles and ATVs. Yoshimura’s expertise and years of experience in building the best camshafts in the business is legendary. All Yoshimura camshafts are constructed from one-piece billet or blanks, not re-grind. As a result, our cams not only perform at the highest level possible, but they are also extremely durable.

Fujio Yoshimura supervises every aspect of the cam design and manufacturing process. Our investment in state of the art computerized equipment to aid in the design of Yoshimura cams proves our dedication. The results are spectacular. The camshaft’s performance is nothing short of breathtaking, and we use a combination of computer, dyno, and real world, seat of the pants testing. Radiator GuardsWe spent a lot of time and bashed many knuckles cutting up RM-Z450radiatorguardsandshoe-horningthemintotheQuadRacerR450 shrouds. Then we figured we’d be better off making some of our own. Kick Start KitWhen you’re racing, every ounce counts. That’s why the Yoshimura Kick Start Kit is so popular. It shaves off nearly eight pounds from your quad, taking a lot of that “high weight” off. Highly placed weight can negatively affect the polar movement of your quad and cause negative handling forces. This kit also reduces the mass on the crankshaft, making for snappier overall performance.

While we were improving things, we included a capacitor to replace that clunky battery and make things nice and “sparky.” A Yoshimura Shift Pin Kit is also included to toughen up the engine cases.

MXR-8 Wheel CapPick your favorite color: red, black, or yellow. Rotating mass can cause your tires to become off balance and cause axle vibration, so we designed these caps to keep sticky, heavy mud out. These wheel caps push into most 8-inch beadlock rear wheels. Trick Yoshimura wheel cap stickers are included.

Push Button Start KitGet rid of unnecessary bulk with the push button start kit. It eliminates the stock handlebar switch assembly and allows for a less cluttered handlebar area to mount hand guards or reposition controls.
