n The TraversThe racing meet’s showcase event, the $1 million TraversStakes,willberunforthe141sttimeonSaturday,August28,withaspecialfirstposttimeof11:35a.m.Alternativelycalledthe“Mid-SummerDerby,”theTraversisoneoftheoldestandmost historic stakes races in North America and the mosthighlyanticipatedeventoftheSaratogasummerseason.

The Travers Stakes was first run in 1864 in Saratoga. Itsinaugural winner, Kentucky, was owned by one of SaratogaRace Course’s founders and its first president, William R.Travers,forwhomtheracewasnamed.Themostprestigiousraceofthemeet,theTraversStakeshasrunallbutfiveyearssince its inception,andhasbeenrunallbut threeyearsatSaratoga, when it was moved to Belmont Park because ofwar-timerestrictionsontravel.

Today, the Travers Stakes attracts the nation’s best three-year-olds–manyofwhomhaveemergedfromtheTripleCrownseriesforthestartofracing’ssecondseason-inamileandaquartercompetitionthatpromisesunparalleledexcitement,thrillingdramaandisakeyfactorindeterminingthesport’sthree-year-oldchampion.

n Admission & ParkingGrandstandadmissionis$3andClubhouseadmissionis$5.Reserved seating is sold separately. Children ages 12 andunder are admitted FREE when accompanied by an adult.Admission gates open weekdays at 11 a.m. and weekendsat 10:30 a.m. Trackside parking is $10 and General parkingisFREE.OklahomaPreferred is$5.Handicappedparking isavailableatClubhouseandGrandstandentrances.

OnTraversDay,Saturday,August28,gatesopenat7a.m.Grandstand admission for Travers is $5 and Clubhouseadmission is $10. Also on Travers Day, there will be noparkingrefundsgiventothosewhocometobreakfast.ThosehavingtheClubhousePorchBreakfastmustpayClubhouseadmission.

Coolersarepermittedinthebackyard,apron,andTopoftheStretchareasonly.Coolersarenotallowedanywhereelseinthe building. No glass is permitted to be brought onto thepremises. Coolers are subject to search by NYRA securitypersonnel.

Pop-up tents and umbrellas are restricted to the backyardarea only. They are prohibited on the apron, and by thePaddock. However, if a tent or umbrella in the backyard isblockinganotherpatron’sviewofaTVmonitorortoteboard,theobstructionmustthenberemoved.

There is NO SMOKINGpermitted anywhere insidethe building, including thereserved seats, box area,andalldiningareas.

TherearespeciallymarkedareasforwheelchairsonlybehindReservedSeatSectionsJ (in theClubhouse)andM (in theGrandstand).
