WeLCOMe tO aLL COMPetItORS to the NOVeMBeR meeting the NINtH and PeNULtIMate round of 10 Club rounds for 2010 HKRC CLUB CHaMPIONSHIP. With the 9 highest scores to count. Please contribute towards the British Legion Poppy Appeal.

For the NOVeMBeR meeting the Club race format will be tWO heats and a FINaL The format will be on a timed basis as in the previous months which has received positive feedback and allows good track time and a well run race meeting. Time allocated for heats will be determined on race day at drivers briefing. This format of two heats and a final will run from NOVeMBeR tO MaRCH 2011. Depending on weather and light, we will still look at as much track time as possible.

RaCe eNtRIeS. Please would competitor’s application for race weekends be sent early to enable the Competition Secretary more time to prepare for the race weekend.

The 2011 MeMBeRSHIP packs are available with a varied 2011 season. The Club fully appreciates the continued support from Members throughout 2011 . The only 2 changes regarding costs for 2011. PRaCtICe DaY – Members £35 Non –Members £40

aLL PItBaY holders issued with a permit must display to enable the Club to ensure that competitors are parked in their correct bays. The permits will be handed out by HKRC officials or can be collected in race control over the race weekend..

Pit bay renting for 2011 will be available from November. There will be new pit bays available and some pit bays due to site changes that will not be available for 2011. Please ask at race control for more details. Existing Pit bay holders will be able to confirm their preference to keep the bays at the November meeting. Existing bay holders that are to be removed for Phase two work will be given the opportunity to choose the new bay availability. Pit bay Fees will range from £70- 180 depending on size of bay.

VaCaNt PIt BaYS can be rented for £20 per weekend, please visit race control for availability. If anyone is parked on a bay that has not be hired, then they will be asked to move or Pay for Hire if the bay is not to be used for the weekend.

Phase tWO –PaRC FeRMe and DUMMY GRID plans to amalgamate the Dummy grid and parc ferme as one area has started. Please accept apologies for any inconvenience created during this time and would appreciate your understanding over the next 3 months.

IMPORTANT NOTICES INCLUDING HKRC OffICIAL SR’S

tYRe DISPOSaL. Tyres are still being left on site at race meetings, although less each month, which is appreciated by the Club as this reduces costs for disposal. The club asks that this continues which will delay any decision on passing on disposal costs to the Competitors. Please take the tyres with you or pay a £3 fee per set of tyres to any of the kart traders or the maintenance team who will be able to dispose of them. Over the NOVeMBeR weekend HKRC Officials will be walking around the paddock checking on tyre disposal.

• DOGS are not permitted to be walked around the paddock during practice or race day. all DOGS must be kept with the pitbay area of the owner. When walking your dogs PLeaSe ensure you clear any dog fouling.. Dogs must be kept with the pit space allocated during practice and race day (SR 25) Thankyou for your cooperation.

• NO DOGS are permitted to be walked on the circuit, only the surrounding area. this is due unfortunately to the trust of dog owner being broken by not clearing up. this is not what the Club wanted , but must have this in place for the competitors

• No Parking in unallocated pit bays, you will be asked to move

• Motorised bikes/ scooters are not allowed to be used in the paddock, track, or car park areas around the site over the race weekend. Push bikes, skateboards etc. may not be used from 8.30a.m until 6 p.m. on any day where practice, either unofficial or official, or racing is taking place. (SR 24)

• Drivers must place their karts on the dummy grid one full race before theie next event and remain with their kart until their race starts.the dummy grid will be closed after the preceding race has left t he grid and competitors not in position will at this time be placed at the back of the grid. (SR21)

• any footage from Cameras fitted to karts on race day will not be accepted for any driving or appeal situations with the Clerk of Course or Stewards of the meeting

• engines are only allowed to be started in the two allocated areas . Kart engines are not to be started in pit bay areas and not before 10am or after 6pm

• No fluids are to be disposed of onsite using the drains or any ground area on site.Notice to all competitors that the Following Traders are recognized as the ONLY Official traders at each Hunts Kart Racing Club race weekend during the 2010 season

Tuesday 8 May 1945 was 'Victory in Europe' (VE) Day and it marked the formal end of Hitler's war. With it came the end of six years of misery, suffering, courage and endurance across the world. Individuals reacted in very different ways to the end of the nightmare: some celebrated by partying; others spent the day in quiet reflection; and there were those too busy carrying out tasks to do eithesame again.

Lest we forget

Kimbolton airfield was the home of the 379th Bomb Group during WW2. The 379th Bomb Group flew B17s Kimbolton airfield was the home of the 379th Bomb Group during WW2. The 379th Bomb Group flew B17s and the group was signified by the letter K within a triangle on its tail. During all of its 330 bombing missions, it dropped 26,640 tons of bombs, shot down 315 enemy aircraft and lost 141 of its B-17s to enemy action. The 379th Bomb Group was the only unit ever awarded the 8thhonour in recognition of its achievements. They also received two Presidential Unit Citations. The Group flew its last combat mission on April 25, 1945 and was finally deactivated on July 25, 1945.

Remembrance Sunday

The Hunts Karts Racing Club will observe the 2 minutes silence on Sunday. The meeting will be paused for 15 minutes and the service of remembrance from Whitehall will be played live on the tannoy. We welcome all competitors and teams to join our officials

at the start finish line to pay our respects.

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, the First World War ended. Since then, 11th November or Armistice Day, has been enshrined

in the memories of the nation as a day to pause and remember those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

Remembrance Sunday is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. On this day people across the nation pause

to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave Service men and women.

The National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall is a unique expression of national homage devoted to the remembrance of those who have given their lives in war. It was

originally conceived as a commemoration of the war dead of the first World War but after the Second World War the scope of the ceremony was extended to focus on the nation’s dead of both World Wars, and in 1980 it was widened once again to extend the remembrance to all who have

suffered and died in conflict in the service of their country and all those who mourn them.

Hunts Kart Racing Club Remembrance Day

World War II, fought, from 1939 until 1945, was the largest armed conflict the world has ever seen, and remains one of the most significant events in human history. Military forces from over seventy nations fought air, land and sea battles spanning much of the globe, resulting in the deaths of over sixty million people. The war ended in 1945 with an Allied victory.

After France had fallen in 1940, the United Kingdom was out of money. Franklin Roosevelt persuaded the U.S. Congress to pass the Lend-Lease act on March 11, 1941, which provided the United Kingdom and 37 other countries with US$50 billion dollars in military equipment and other supplies, US$31.4 billion of it going to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Canada operated a similar program that sent $4.7 billion in supplies to the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union.

In the summer of 1941, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands began an oil embargo against Japan, threatening its ability to fight a major war at sea or in the air. However, Japanese forces continued to advance into China. Japan planned an attack on Pearl Harbor to cripple the U.S. Pacific Fleet, then seize oil fields in the Dutch East Indies. On December 7, a Japanese carrier fleet launched an unexpected air attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The raid destroyed most of the American aircraft on the island and knocked the main American battle fleet out of action (six battleships sank, but four of them along with two other badly damaged battleships eventually returned to service). However, the four American aircraft carriers that had been the intended main target of the Japanese attack were off at sea. At Pearl Harbor, the main dock, supply, and repair facilities were quickly repaired.

The attack united American public opinion to demand vengeance against Japan. The following day, December 8, the United States declared war on Japan. On the same day, Japan invaded Malaya, and China officially declared war against Japan.

Germany declared war on the United States on December 11, even though it was not obliged to do so under the Tripartite Pact. Hitler hoped that Japan would support Germany by attacking the Soviet Union. Japan did not oblige because it had signed a non-aggression treaty with the Soviet Union. Instead, Germany’s declaration largely removed any significant opposition to the United States’ joining the fight in the Europe Theatre with full commitment.

Hunts Kart Racing Club Remembrance Day

The U.S., UK, and Canadian air forces counterattacked the Luftwaffe and began large-scale strategic bombing, eventually targeting major cities inside Germany.

The U.S concentrated on daytime bombing, while the RAF done their bombing during the night. This effort was orchestrated by Air Chief Marshall Harris, who became known as ‘Bomber Harris’. Additionally, Winston Churchill ordered “terror raids” intended to wipe out whole cities in one go, by incendiary devices causing firestorms, thus depriving German workers of their homes. Mass raids involving upwards of 500 to 1000 heavy bombers at a time were undertaken against airfields, industrial centers, submarine bases, rail-marshalling yards, oil depots and, in the later stages of the war, launching sites for weapons such as the V-1 missile (nicknamed ‘doodlebug’), the V-2 rocket and a jet-engined plane, the Messerschmitt Me 262. The Luftwaffe was overwhelmed and had only a few operational planes left by late 1944 on the Western Front. By 1945, all major German cities were burnt-out ruins.

Another beautiful day greeted over two hundred drivers as Hunts Kart Racing Club hosted the eighth round of their 2010 championships along with a visit from Super 4 competitors in 125 and 250 gearbox. The new shower facilities greatly appreciated and phase II of the 2010 development plan involving revising parc ferme and moving the dummy grid is already under way.Cadet Libre and Honda Cadet: - Several front runners were caught up in first corner skirmishes, allowing James Manning and Josh Smith to get well ahead of the pack. These two raced nose-to-tail for all nine laps. On the final time round, Manning went wide at Kestrel and Smith went through to take the win. The following six karts provided equally close racing with Ryan Anderton coming through to third ahead of Ross Martin after more close encounters on the final lap saw William Taylforth and Enaam Ahmed drop out of the reckoning. Anderton and Martin were promoted one place when Manning received a post-race exclusion. James Oliver took the Novice award. Aaron Drury and Ethan Andrews both took turns to lead the Honda Cadet final, but it was Drury who was ahead when it mattered. Harrison Huggan had a poor start, but recovered to work his way past the other Hondas for third. The Novice award went to Harry Howes.Mini Max: - Connor Mills made short shrift of snatching the lead from James Webb and there was no one able to catch him. Webb was comfortable in second with Luke Hughes following in third place throughout. Michael Houghton looked to have lost out at Stow on the last lap, but got a great run to the line to grab fourth back on the line. Sam Smelt took the Novice award.Junior Rotax: - Bobby Neil was in top form again to lead every lap and win by over two seconds. Guy Perry’s battle with Matthew Lambert provided the entertainment early on as the swapped third and fourth between them. With Lambert finally vanquished, Perry set off after Liam Ferguson, taking runner up spot with two laps to go. Lambert added to Ferguson’s gloom by taking third from him a lap later. Henry Riley won the novice trophy. Junior tKM: - Jack Partridge had to defend the lead with Stephen Letts tracking his every move. On the last lap it became apparent that Letts had merely been biding his time and he swept ahead at Stow. Partridge made a huge effort on the run to the line, but Letts held on to win by eight hundredths of a second. Richard Woolmer made steady progress to grab third on the final lap, with Sam Sanders, Liam Murray, Jordan Hankins and Ryan Gray just behind him. William Howes took the Novice award.Senior Rotax: - Robert Gilford took pole and set off at a fast pace that no one was able to match initially. Fellow front row man James Corpe, having dropped to fourth at the start, set about reclaiming the lost ground. Into third a couple of laps later, Corpe took second off Andrew Winter at half distance. The gap to the leader was closing rapidly, but it seemed like time was running out for Corpe to make a passing move. Going in to the last corner, Corpe went for the lead and emerged from Kimbolton first. Gilford was slow out of the corner and Winter got the run on him to snatch second on the line by one hundredth of a second! Leading Novice Dean Stimson finished well up the field in tenth place. Super 4 – 125: - This race was all about the front two, ‘O’ Plate Sam Moore leading Tom Witts, as Richard Palmer had to retire. Witts judged his move for the lead to perfection to win by the narrowest of margins. Matt Dittmann held third throughout, a second behind the leading pair.Super 4 – 250: - Stephen Lane was soon under close scrutiny from James Hassall and chose to go defensive in the braking area into Stow. Whilst this tactic can pay off, there is always the possibility of losing the position

as the challenger usually gets a better exit. We witnessed this here and with Lane and Hassall going into the Willows side by side, the inevitable coming together resulted leaving Hassall out of the race and Lane back in third place., This genuine racing incident handed the lead to Lee Stamp who gratefully romped away to win from Adam Tanner.Rotax 177 and tKM extreme: - Lee Torrie continued his good run of form with a lights-to-flag win in 177. David Turton and Matt Barnes moved ahead of James Darch at the start and the three circulated in that order until lap nine when Barnes dropped down to ninth. In Extreme, Michael Cornell was always too quick for the others and pulled out a three second gap on Sam Grogan. Rob Carter marked his return to Kimbolton by taking the final podium position. Ciaran McDonald took the Novice award.Rotax 177 Masters: - Steve Sawford grabbed the lead at the start and kept a comfortable distance ahead of Ian Alexander. Richard Lloyd was slow off the line, falling behind Martin Reader and Paul Cook. Once running though, Lloyd’s pace improved and he worked his way back to third by lap four. The front running pair were too far ahead of him and although he had caught Alexander by race end, he ran out of time to make a challenge. Guy Bowden took the novice award.Gearbox 125 and 250: - in 125, Chris Thexton led from pole and was untroubled by Mark Culey. Neil Rodgie was comfortable in third. In 250, Adam Tanner was the clear winner to add to his runner up spot in Super 4. Ron Stamp took a couple of laps to get away from Vernon Whitaker, but went on to finish second by some distance.
