PRESS RELEASE 2010 Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination Results Released A total of 122,387 candidates who took part in the 2010 HKCEE will receive their results tomorrow (4 August). In this cohort 83,059 (67.9%) were day school candidates and 33,246 (27.2%) were private candidates. The total number of candidates sitting the examinations increased on last year’s number by 5.9%. This year, 58,699 candidates met the minimum requirements of Secondary Six admission, representing a 0.7% increase in number of candidates compared to last year. 31.4% of all candidates, i.e. 26,583 candidates, who took at least 6 subjects attained 14 points or above. The percentage was comparable with that of 2009. In terms of top performance, 16 candidates obtained 10As/ 5* this year and 41 candidates were awarded 9As/ 5*. Comparing the attainment of day schools first attempters in English Language this year to that of 2009, the performance this year was very similar to last year’s, with only very slight variations of less than 1% at all levels. For Chinese Language, higher percentages of candidates have attained Levels 1 (up 0.9%), 2 (up 3.2%) and 4 (up 3.1%), while lower percentages have attained Levels 3 (down 4.5%) and 5 (down 0.9%).   • To ensure accessibility for candidates with special needs, 40 special examination centres were set up and special examination arrangements were made for 941 candidates to tailor for their needs.

    During the examination two candidates were found cheating and were disqualified from the subjects concerned.

    Detailed results and related statistics are provided in the Annexes.

    Results Release Arrangements:

    School candidates can obtain their results notices from their respective schools while private candidates will be notified by post. For Secondary Six admission purposes, private candidates who sat 6 or more subjects and who have not received their results notices by 10:00 am on 4 August may apply in person for a free duplicate copy at the Authoritys offices (12/F Southorn Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai or G/F 17 Tseuk Luk Street, San Po Kong), upon presentation of their admission form.

    Enquiries can also be made by telephone at 3628 8860.

    Results will be available online for private and evening school candidates from 8:00 am on 4 August. These candidates can also access their results at http://results.hkeaa.edu.hk/hkcee over the next three weeks. Those who have registered for SMS service will receive their results through their mobile phones by 9:30 am on the day of release of results.
