    Introduction

    2010 Commonwealth Games is officially known as the XIX

    Commonwealth Games.

    It was held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010.

    The opening and closing ceremony were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru

    Stadium, the stadium of the event.

    The official mascot of the games was Shera and the official song of the

    games, Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto , was composed by Indian musician A.R.

    Rahman.

    It was one of the most expensive event ever. The budget reached

    Rs.157,731,000,000 which includes flyover construction, roadsconstruction, new airport terminal construction and stadiums construction.

    Conditions After the Games

    When Kalmadi was under scanner for corruption allegations, he claimed

    that all the construction projects were not on his part of job, CM Sheila

    Dikshit was responsible for that.

    Kalmadi claimed that his budget was 1600 crore whereas Sheila Dikshit

    had a budget of 16000 crore. He wasnt responsible for the over bridge collapse. Delhi government and

    PWD were responsible.

    The Income Tax officials raided two well known companies related to the

    Games.

    They were Satya Prakash Constructions which provided landscapingservices for the CWG and Shiv Naresh Sports which provided tracksuits for

    the Games were come under the in depth inquiry of the IT officials.

    Scandals in CWG

    Scandal amounting to more than 4.50 Lakh pounds.

    Corruption in construction projects and illegal cash transfers.

    Fake certificates were routinely issued to pass substandard work and

    material, which have led to very big gains for vendors and contractors.

    The roof of the weightlifting auditorium started leaking due to heavy

    showers.

    The lack of security itself is going to be a major factor for most countries to

    cancel their participation.

    Conclusion

    The allegations of corruption in the CWG must have made millions of

    Indians who work honestly and look for a resurgent India to feel extremely

    frustrated and sad.

    The cause of industrial and economic development of the country will

    suffer heavily in the coming years. The quality investors from abroad will think that nothing can be done in

    India without adopting corrupt methods and would be apprehensive about

    dealing with Indians.

    India today is suffering from crisis of leadership.
