Thanks for coming to the fourth show in our 30th anniversary season. We have decided to repeat a production or two after 30 years. We performed “The Foreigner” 23 years ago in 1987 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center at NSU.

There are only three people from the original cast still in the Aberdeen area. Warren Redmond is the only one who auditioned again and I was pleased to once again be able to cast him in the title

role. It doesn’t happen very often that there is a role that one can reprise 23 years later and still be appropriate for the character. It has been a new experience for both of us as director and actor. Warren is always great fun to work with on any production.

We hope you enjoy our reprise of “The Foreigner” and will be back for next month’s production of “Greater Tuna,” another reprise production, again with an original cast member. (This time Thom Flamboe, from our 1993 production.) It was the first show we did in the Capitol Theatre before renovations began. Brian Schultz will join Thom to bring you 20 characters from the 3rd smallest town in Texas - Tuna.

We still need your help. In order to keep ticket prices low, we rely on annual contributions. For every dollar in ticket sales we need two dollars in contributions. In other words, the $16 ticket you purchased for “The Foreigner” would have to cost $48. As an ACT member you only paid about $12 for your ticket to this production. I know many of you see theater elsewhere, Minneapolis or Chicago or New York, and spend at least $48 a ticket. So, please, if you can, make a tax-deductible contribution by using the form on the back of this program. Your contribution is much needed and greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your support through attendance and please help by contributing today.

Brian T. SCHulTz (ACT technical director; scenic, light and sound designer) resides in Aberdeen with wife, Juli, and daughters, Erica and Natalie. He is also ACT’s education coordinator and Storybook Land Theatre’s director. And he is no stranger to ACT’s stage. Schultz’s last role was Joseph in this spring’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He received Best Supporting Actor at the AACT festival for his role as Russ Renner in ACT’s “How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical” (2009).

HeiDi JenSon (ACT’s technical assistant) is new to Aberdeen. This Watertown native started at ACT in May with set construction for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” She received a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre and a minor in Chinese Studies from the University of North Dakota and has been on the staff of the Huron (Ohio) Playhouse, Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts Festival, Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, WI and the Des Moines Metro Opera. Heidi enjoys live music, coffee and bunnies (as pets, not food) and looks forward to being part of the ACT theater family.

ACT PRESENTS THE COMEDY

What do Arles Struvie, Thurston Wheelis, Aunt Pearl, Petey Fisk, Phinas Blye and Rev. Spikes have in common? In this hilarious send-up of small town morals and mores, they are all among the upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas’ third smallest town. The longrunning Off Broadway hit features two actors creating the entire population of Tuna in quick change artistry. Two actors, twenty characters and a barrel of laughs.
