VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE HUGHESVILLE AN-

GEL’S WATCH HOMELESS SHELTER. We will soon be preparing the 2018 schedule for teams of volunteers to prepare and deliver meals at the Angel’s Watch Homeless Shelter in Hughesville. The Shelter has been in operation since 1989, and has been a source of safety and new beginnings for individuals and families in Southern Maryland who are experiencing home-lessness, domestic violence, battling chronic mental or physical disabilities or facing other housing or employment crises. Sa-cred Heart has provided supper on the first Friday of each month since its inception. Each team (usually 4 or 5 individuals) pre-pares a meal and delivers it to the Shelter sometime before 6:00pm. Once the meal is delivered, residents take care of re-heating, serving and clean-up. If you would be interested in joining this ministry, please call Christ Knecht at the parish of-fice (301-934-2261) by December 10 to sign up or for more information.

    request.

    Dear Parishioners,

1st Sunday of Advent: How are you going to Prepare for

    Christ’s Birthday?!

Jesus says this weekend: "Be watchful! Be alert! You do not

know when the time will come.” What would you do if you knew that the end of the world was

coming in five days? What if you found out you had five days

    to live?

Tim McGraw in his song “Live like you were Dying” answers

    what he would do:

How's it hit 'cha when you get that kind of news? Man what did ya do?

    He said I went skydiving

I went rocky mountain climbing I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu

And I loved deeper And I spoke sweeter

And I gave forgiveness I'd been denyin' And he said some day I hope you get the chance

To live like you were dyin'

For us Catholics the smartest thing to do would be to make

sure our soul was in good shape, and we made a Good Con-

fession. Every Advent is a season where we make a deeper

Examination and prepare ourselves for the Coming of Chris.

This year we are trying something a little different than in the

    Past. Mark your calenders!!

Instead of an Advent Penance Service we are going to offer 2

Nights with at least 5 Confessors. Every Wendnesday night

we have had Confessions from 6:30 to 9 pm. We also have

had a 7 pm Mass since last Lent followed by Eucharistic Ado-

ration…This year on Wednesday December 13th and Wendnes-day December 20th we are going to have five priests hearing

confessions from 6:30 to 9. You can go to Confession, Go to

Mass, and spend some time in Eucharistic Adoration all in one

night! What an awesome gift to give Jesus on His Birthday…

    In Christ, Fr. Larry
