President’s Welcome ur conference training is often seen as the heart of OASFAA. And I can’t think of a better way to O
enjoy training than in the company of colleagues across the state. As president, it is my pleasure to see the efforts of so many volunteers in our association come together in an exemplary winter conference for our membership. The training subjects provide something for everyone whether it is state and federal updates, NASFAA CORE training for new rofessionals, or conference sessions covering special circumstances and time management to pfinancial literacy and campus communications. Our daily keynotes are well versed in our work. We are fortunate to be kicking off our conference with an address by Eric Fingerhut, Chancellor of the Board of Regents, and Chad Foust, Director of tate Grants and Scholarships, will also provide an update. Finally, Jamie Malone will bring us news Sand information directly from the U.S. Department of Education. With the FSA Conference now in early December and holidays throughout the month, we are trying a new approach to conference dates that will hopefully assist everyone in achieving balance with he many facets of your life and with in and out‐of‐office time. Our conference hotel, The Columbus

Charity Event This conference's charity drive will benefit persons living in the Appalachian region of Ohio. Please join your colleagues in giving clothing and toys for the Jackson County Secret Santa and the inton County School District. These counties have two of the lowest average incomes within V
Ohio so they need our help. In an effort to reach children of all ages, we have divided the state into the four regions and ask that each specific r l accept all onations.

In addition to bringing in new clothes and toys for children, we will have a coat drive to benefit the ecret Santa of Jackson County. If you have any gently used coats, please bring them with you and, Sthey will go to someone in need. We of course will have a competition between the regions, the winning region will be announced on Wednesday!

Alex Murdoch Award The Alex Murdoch Award was named after the former Associate Director of Student Financial Aid at the University of Cincinnati upon his retirement from the field in 1999. The award is presented ach winter conference to a member that exhibits the qualities Alex Murdoch personified in his ededication to students but particularly to the state association. The Alex Murdoch Award recipient supports OASFAA with conviction and loyalty. The recipient is always there to lend a helping hand, share their knowledge, or offer their opinion. They work tirelessly to further the lives of others in their journey for higher education. Alan M. Donley Chair in Need Analysis The Alan M. Donley Chair in Need Analysis honors Al for his commitment and dedication to the philosophy of need analysis and to the need analysis committee over years. Al was the Director of Financial Aid at Hiram College beginning in 1966 and the OASFAA president for the 1972‐73 academic year. The need analysis committee chair (or senior chair if it is a co‐chair position) is recognized each winter conference as they continue the legacy of need analysis training of OASFAA.

Affordability and Efficiency in the University System of Ohio Making textbooks more affordable, creating low‐cost pathways for degrees in demand, implementing a nationally‐recognized performance‐based funding formula for universities and community colleges, and streamlining the credit transfer process are just some of the initiatives underway within the University System of Ohio. Chancellor Eric D.
