3sixty Installation


Hardware Installation - Power

1. Constant 12 volt B+ and Ground

2. The 3Sixty can be turned ON by a 12 volt turn on lead or set to a signal sensing mode to turn on

3. When set to signal sensing, the 3Sixty turn-on becomes +12 volts OUT and can be used to trigger amplifier/s


How to Set Turn-on Options

Remove these 2 screws to gain access to the jumper pins. This is the output side of the 3sixty.


Locate the Jumper

This is the location for the jumper. The factory positionsetting is in the IN position. This allows 3sixty to work likean amplifier, requiring a remote turn on input


Move the Jumper

This is how the jumper should be setif you are using the 3sixty for remote output


Hardware Installation - Knob

Note: Disconnect the remote knob from the 3Sixty during setup.


Hardware Installation - Inputs

Input Options• Six – Speaker level inputs • Six – Line level (RCA) inputs • Up to 20 volts input (100 watts).

Both sets of inputs are labeled as: • Front – Left and Right • Rear – Left and Right• Center and Sub

A 3Sixty install is just like installing a Line Output Converter.

Warning –These inputs are PARALLEL inputs with DIFFERENT connection options.

Step 1

Verify Current Left/right channel setup



Step 2

Find the Maximum unclipped outputfrom the source unit using a 1k sine wave at 0db and o-scope


What is the difference between ¾ volume and maximum unclipped output?

¾ Volume on our head unit Max. unclipped on our head unit



Step 3

Check audio signal input polarity


How do you determine the phaseof the OEM Speaker Wires?

DO NOT use a Battery!!

Use a half Clipped Sine Wave




Step 4

Set input levels of 3sixty



Step 5

Establish bluetooth link to 3sixty witha palm or windows device



Step 6

Run OEM integration or new setup withaftermarket source unit


The OEM Integration Analysis

• OEM Integration process will take 3 – 8 minutes

• 3Sixty analyzes each channel input signal

• Determine if each channel is Full range or bandwidth limited

• If selected, Sum channels to create Full range Outputs

• Auto normalize or “flatten” the frequency response of each channel


To Sum or Not To Sum

SUM if the 3Sixty will control• Front and Rear channel levels (Fading)• Center or Sub (subwoofer) channel levels • All channel crossover points and slopes

Do not to SUM if the source will control• Front and Rear channel levels (Fading)• Center or Sub (subwoofer) channel levels • All channel crossover points and slopes• Source has 5.1 surround and you wish to maintain the

proper frequency steering

If you choose NOT SUM, 3Sixty will still Auto Normalize the frequency response of each Input channel.



Step 7

Set final gain levels at the amplifiersand use the appropriate gain overlap


- 1k Sine Waves are constantand easy to measure- 1k at 0db is the highest possible

1K Clipped Sine waves are veryeasy to see on an oscilloscope



Find the maximum unclipped outputlevel of the amplifier with 1k sine wave at 0db with an o-scope

Now Listen to how great yoursystem sounds!



What happened? Music is recorded at a lower level than 0db.



Gain OverlapWhen adjusting for more output,compromise will be made to the performance of the system


Music is a constant dynamicand is very difficult to measure



3sixty System Tuning



What is good sound?Everyone has their own opinion of whatsounds good. To establish a baseline towork from, follow this thought:Good sound is reproducing themusic as it was recorded.

Attributes of good sound are:-Wide Realistic Sound Stage-Focused center image-Accurate tonal balance



System tuning does not solve:- improper system design- poor speaker placement- poor component choice



Common System Tuning goals- Recreate the music as it was recorded- Balanced sound- Maximum dynamic range- Maximum system reliability



System Check List-Check speaker polarity-Controls on sources set to flat-Balance and fader to correct position-Level match processors and amplifiers-Play full range signal to ensure equal sound and output-Adjust the subwoofers down to match the level output of the high frequency amplifiers



Tuning with an RTA-An RTA will give you a good foundation-Don’t rely on the RTA alone, your ears will be the final judge



Tuning Tips-Use an EQ to cut and not boost-Use your ear to make final adjustments
