2009 Field Observations
Auburn CEV9-2-09

Our Position
• We have been very open minded and tried to be fair in all conclusions and judgments
• We have taken the farmer’s perspective• “Show me the benefits”• Kate and Garr Thomas have been very matter
of fact and have NOT distorted the facts.
![Page 3: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Applications were timed perfectly
![Page 4: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
We got good comments on the work
![Page 5: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
We wondered what would happen
• Short window of time from application to harvest…How can Headline do anything in 45 days???
• Does plant health spray really make a difference?
• We did it right….good rate of carrier, right nozzles, used Hook surfactant to help make coverage even better……….
![Page 6: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
AWSOME COVERAGE @ 15GPA
![Page 7: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
THIS IS REALLY NEAT….WE NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS
WOULD BE SO DRAMATIC
![Page 8: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Rejman Farms BMR SIDE BY SIDE
Third leaf from Ground!!Airplane would never do this good of
coverage!!!
![Page 9: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Donald Bros. Grain Corn Side by Side
Notice the narrower ear at but and tip More consistent fill out, larger girth
![Page 10: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Donald Bros. Grain Corn Side by Side
Consistently smaller ear size Time and again, larger ears
![Page 11: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
THIS IS WHY…..Donald Bros.Leaf not able to produce as much
energy for fruit growth More Chlorophyll means more energy!
![Page 12: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Bottom line for CEV Auburn
• We have key side by side’s out in market…very key accounts…a lot of visibility with whole county
• Miller machine must pay for itself!! This work would just be a part of the machines total work load
• This does stretch out revenue stream further in the summer….a very good thing for us
![Page 13: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Now the rest of the story
![Page 14: 2009 Plant Health Field Observations](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032504/55c356a7bb61eb0f7e8b46ce/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
15 Different Side by Side Silage Trials
• All trials were with local farmers• Over 400 acres involved in the silage trials• 15 trials measured with reliable permanent
scales or TMR truck scales• One measured with on board yield monitor• All trials were with BMR silage varieties• All treated with 6 oz Headline, 4 oz Hook with
15 gallons water at about 90 PSI

One Sweet Corn Trial
• We were not sure if Headline could outperform the high rate Quilt
• It wound up paying for itself and making farmer more money
