This Spring’s 2009handbell release is filledwith twenty-one selectionsencompassing music forthe Lent & Easter season,as well as general titles forworship and concerts.There are many noteworthypieces to recommend, but

let me highlight just a few foryou. At the top of the order you will hear DougBenton’s stunning presentation of “Christ the Lord IsRisen Today.” With options for including organ,brass, handbells, choir and congregation, this hymnconcertato is a great way to bring all your forcestogether in celebration on Easter morning. Also forthis season is a new Arnold Sherman setting forbells, voices and rhythm, using two well-known titles,one contemporary and the other a classic hymn in“Above All with When I Survey the WondrousCross.” Be sure to take a look at two originalcompositions, one from Cynthia Dobrinski andanother by Arnold Sherman. Also take note ofEnya’s popular secular title, “Sail Away,” set byKevin McChesney. There are many hymn-basedsettings for a variety of octaves. For those of youwho are familiar with Joel Raney’s worship openersfor piano, organ, and handbells with an optionalchoral introit, you will want to listen to his newsetting of “Majesty” which also includes portions of“How Great Thou Art” and “I Worship You, AlmightyGod.”

As you can see, there is a wealth of fabulousmusic from composers and arrangers you’ve cometo know and appreciate.
