Eleni Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis TheatreThe Grand Theatre Center for the Artsis an uniquely conceived arts center – committed to supporting artistic excellence on its stages and engaging the entire community in new and exciting ways through an array of inspiring programs both on and off the stage. On behalf of the City of Tracy, I would like to welcome you to the 2009-2010 Season. This season you will find a sea of entertainment, rich in talent, diversity, and memorable experiences for audiences and performers alike. This season’s program is a perfect remedy for these stressful times. We’ve worked hard to present a broad range of programming in our third season, including Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company, tours of top Broadway shows including: Runt of the Litter, My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish and I’m in Therapy and Cabaret. We also offer intimate performances of family-friendly programming and, back by popular demand, Classic Cinema shown on the big screen. The Grand Theatre is not just a building in which to see performances. We also offer curriculum-enhancing programs through our Arts Education program for the region’s students. As the Arts are cut in our schools, the Grand Theatre will be there to help backfill those cuts with many programs designed to inspire young people with vital arts education programs, enhancing their studies and enriching their lives well into the future. The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts staff welcomes and serves nearly 50,000 attendees, including 30,000 students and children to its programs, theaters, classrooms and galleries annually. Since opening our doors in 2007, 75,000 people have attended an event, performance, activity or meeting at the Grand. Stop by and experience the Grand and you’ll see why we call it the “Jewel of Downtown Tracy!”

Vertigo Friday, November 6, 2009 8 PM $5 General AdmissionTo say Vertigo finds Hitchcock at his most obsessive, his most perverse and his sexual best, doesn’t even begin to convey how haunting this film is, or how bizarre.
To Catch a Thief Friday, November 20, 2009 8 PM$5 General AdmissionBased on the novel by David Dodge, To Catch a Thief tells the story of a retired jewel thief, John Robie (Cary Grant), living a blameless life on the French Riviera.
Frankenstein Saturday, October 31, 2009 8 PM$7.50 When brilliant – but deranged – Dr. Frankenstein attempts to create life out of the organs of dead bodies, a grotesque, pitiful monster is born, having accidentally been given the brain of a madman. The most famous horror film of all time, Frankenstein is based on Mary Shelley’s original dark tale with the added famous plot twist by Robert Florey.
It’s a Wonderful Life Sunday, December 13, 2009 2 PM$7.50George Bailey has lived his life serving his community, often at the cost of his own happiness. One Christmas Eve, faced with bankruptcy and jail because of the loss of $8,000, he is reduced to despair and contemplates suicide. A guardian angel shows unhappy George Bailey how dismal life in his home-town would have been if he had “never been born”.

Runt of the LitterFriday, October 23, 2009 8 PMAre you ready for some football? In this acclaimed one-man show, former Houston Oiler Bo Eason takes you down to the locker room and deep into the psyche of a pro with twin obsessions: winning a Super Bowl and vanquishing his star-quarterback brother. Snapping from comedy to drama and back, Eason spares no brutal detail in his depiction of the football field as an epic battleground. He is equally unflinching in reminding us that being part of a family can be a full-contact sport.
CabaretSunday, March 28, 2010 3 PM“Wilkommen!, Bienvenue!, Welcome!”, sings the Emcee of the Kit Kat Club through painted lips, as the people of 1929 Berlin join him. Whatever your troubles, you will forget them in the Cabaret. Set at the dawn of Hitler’s rise to power, the growing influence of the Nazi regime is viewed through the eyes of a young American writer whose love affair with one of the show’s dancers becomes increasingly threatened. The tumultuous political atmo-sphere and seedy decadence of the time is revealed through songs such as It Couldn’t Please Me, Cabaret, and Don’t Tell Mama.
My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in TherapySaturday, January 16, 2010 8 PMSteve Solomon’s two-time award winning show has met with rave reviews and great audience acclaim throughout the country, becoming one of the longest-running one-man shows in Broadway history. Once again, we meet the people that we’re all too familiar with; the family members that make you remember why you left home in the first place. It’s a laugh-filled fest of everybody you know, have known, and some you’d want to forget but can’t, all brought to life on stage by the comic magic of Steve Solomon.

Boesman & Lena Friday & Saturday, January 22 & 23, 2010 8 PMSunday, January 24, 2010 2 PMBoesman and Lena seems simple. Two beaten-down South African “coloureds” seek a safe place to settle, even if it is a squalid camp. The real action, however, lies beneath the surface as the audience explores human emotions, racial politics, and universal questions about existence and the meaning of life in a violent, chaotic world.
Love Letters Friday & Saturday, February 19 & 20, 2010 8 PMSunday, February 21, 2010 2 PMA. R. Their bittersweet relationship unfolds from what is written – and what is unsaid – in their letters. A smash hit on and off Broadway, Love Letters will capture your heart!
Willie and Esther Friday & Saturday, March 19 & 20, 2010 8 PMSunday, March 21, 2010 2 PMThe youthful, curvaceous beautician, Esther, wants to marry the charismatic, fast-talking garrulous handyman, Willie, rich or poor. Esther will take Willie, but she is not easily swayed into releasing her cash to him when there are no signs of his having any collateral in sight, now or in the near future.
Lone Star and Laundry & Bourbon Friday & Saturday, April 16 & 17, 2010 8 PMSunday, April 18, 2010 2 PMLone Star takes place in the cluttered backyard of a small-town Texas bar where Elizabeth’s husband, Roy, is back in town after a hitch in Vietnam. Laundry & Bourbon takes place on Elizabeth’s back porch where we witness Elizabeth’s quiet understanding of the turmoil which has beset her husband since his return from Vietnam.
