Financial Report

After an intense, systematic review by Communities In Schools’ national office Communities In Schools of the Midlands is one of the first local affiliates in the country to receive National Accreditation. Auditors from the organization's national office examined everything from the quality of school programming to operational guidelines, and the strength of the organization's financial management. National Accreditation is part of a new process to ensure affiliates nationwide implement evidence-based practice and meet the highest standards of business accountability. With the continued financial support of United Way of the Midlands, the Success Team programs

at both Dent Middle and E.L. Wright Middle have met the national standards to be considered Comprehensive Sites. The two new sites that will seek comprehensive status in 2010-11 include Heyward Gibbes Middle and C.A. Johnson High School. The program at Heyward Gibbes is a collaboration between Communities In Schools of the Midlands and City Year Columbia. The program at C.A. Johnson is part of a national collaboration between Communities In Schools, City Year and Johns Hopkins’ Talent Development. The Diplomas Now model is a research based collaboration of Development designed to turn around schools and increase graduation rates in inner city schools.

We believe all students can be successful when provided with these “Five Basics”:

A one-on-one relationship

with a caring adult.

A safe place to learn and

grow.

A healthy start and a healthy

future.

A marketable skill to use

upon graduation.

A chance to give back to

peers and community. Pictures from Summer Academy team building.
