I'm very pleased to hear you dispe l any perceptions that the UN Global Compact disa pproves of the ISO 26000 project. ISO appreciates your sup port and the contribution that the UN Global Compact has made in the developmen t of this Standard, including through your Local Ne tworks. I concur that ISO 26000 will help to mainstream corporate responsibil ity on a global scale, and it will also provide harmonized, globally relevant guidance on social responsibility for private and public sector organizations of all types. Your views regardi ng the ISO 26000 Annex are impo rtant and to be considered by the Integrated Drafting Task Force in light of other comments received, and t he path forward established after the Working Group discussions in Quebec City. I am pleased that, on the whole, you view that there is substantial consistency and complementari ty between the current draft of the ISO 26000 and the Global Compact ten principles. Consistent with the mutually supportive approach embodied in our Memorandum of Understandin g, and as we approach publication of the Standard in 2010, I look forward to discussing ways in which we can further cooperate on activities to promote and support implementatio n of t he ISO 26000 Standard and the four topic areas of the Global Compact principles. Thank you for your support and I look f orward to our further positive collaboration. Yours truly, Rob Steele
