Scarf: This scarf has a slip stitch edge, which lies nice and flat. While the scarf does have a right and wrong side, both sides are

very attractive. Slip the first stitch of every row purlwise. Cast on 42 stitches using the long tail cast on, knit in stitch pattern for the desired

length, finishing on row 2 of the pattern. Cast off in pattern (ie knitting the knits, and purling the purls).

Stitch pattern:

Row 1: Sl 1 purl wise, *k1, p2, k1, p 1, k1, p1, k1; repeat from * to last stitch, k1

Row 2: Sl 1 purlwise, * k4, p1, skip 1 stitch, knit the second stitch, leaving it on the needle; then knit the skipped stitch, and slip both

stitches from needle together, p1; repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
