Hasn’t this year been an exciting one! Hillary vs. Barack, McCain’s surprising primary win, the 2008 Summer Olympics introducing Beijing and opening with a fantastic show, and then How ‘bout them Rays! Who expected Obama and Biden? Who could have imagined Sarah Palin? What a Presidential race, what an intro- duction to 21st century politics! Listening to BBC radio, Janice has been captivated by the so- bering, sometimes heartwarm- ing events in the world. One appreciates every good moment of every good day and hopes to act for peace around our globe. A January trip to Hawai’i began our year on the lush “Garden Isle” of Kaua’i. In March we went to Florida for a computer conference, Disney World, Rays vs. Yankees at Spring Training, and a visit with Sarah (and her parents). Our week at Long Beach Island, NJ, with three generations in the house and warm, clear ocean water each day, relaxed us all. The garden was especially good this year with many cherry tomatoes, squash, and peppers. Don had fewer blueberries, but there’s always next year. His home-made grape juice tasted of our back-yard’s sunny sweetness. In his third year, Don teaches beginning algebra and Janice, persuasive writing. Our students want to do well, and some actually achieve that goal. We’re proud of their efforts and accomplishments. Don’s depth and breadth of computer and website applications keep him occupied. Janice plays in recorder and mixed ensembles, the latter being a harpsichord-recorder-cello group with Janice pursuing the cello … and it’s far ahead of her! We see our children and grandchildren often. Penny and Pamela live nearby, and with Amy, Jen, and Doug and families, “often” isn’t often enough — we’re glad for every visit both there and here. 2008 has been our year to join Medicare, get senior rates everywhere, re- mind each other of something forgotten. It’s been our year of enjoying our home, families, community, and lives. Who could ask for more! Love to you all.

December 2008 Dear Friends, Greetings of the season to you and yours. Hasn’t this year been an exciting one! Hillary vs. Barack, McCain’s surprising primary win, the 2008 Summer Olympics introducing Beijing and opening with a fantastic show, and then How ‘bout them Rays! Who expected Obama and Biden?
