2008 VISIONARY AWARD Asia South Visionary Technology plays a pivotal role in helping two of the enti- ties in TVS Group—TVS Motor Company, which is one of the top two-wheel motor bike manufacturers in the world, and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, the leading supplier of automo- tive components in India, to race towards success. 2008 Asia South Visionary and Corporate CIO T.G. Dhandapani and his team rely on standard IT solutions for driving operational efficiencies labor productivity. Mr. Dhandapani and his team have deployed Symantec tech- nologies in various instances over past few years to deliver tangible business value back to both organizations—TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited. With a disparate server environment scattered across multiple lo- cations in India, they standardized backup and restore on Symantec Backup Exec. Data from more than 20 servers is now backed up on a regular basis and estimated backup success rates improved by a minimum of 10 percent. In the case of endpoint security and messaging security, the team upgraded to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 and Symantec Mail Security. Four dedicated full-time employees, who were previously tasked with managing issues related to spam prior to the solution roll out, are now dedicated to oth- er more business-critical initiatives. In addition, spam was reduced to less than one percent of all email and false posi- tives are virtually non-existent. The time employees spend dealing with spam email saves each employee approximate- ly 10 minutes per workday.
