The difference is in the quality, the testing, and the rigorous adherence to the highest safetystandards – our own, set well beyond the basic Euro norms – which made Wild Country one of the first climbing hardware manufacturers to gain the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2000 status.

This is a quality standard, which ensures that from product design, to testing, to traceability,our systems are absolutely rigorous. This system of work is regularly inspected and tested by independent auditors.

These inspections make sure what we claim is true, is!

So when we say we proof load 100% of incoming biners we really do it. When we say we 100% inspect every harness and sling that passes through our hands, we really do it.

Above all this, they make sure that the way we work places safety and quality at the core of everything we do. And this applies whether we make the product in our Peak Districtfactory, or in one of our partners’ plants, either in the UK or abroad.

KARABINERSNOTES AND QUERIES

2008 KARABINERS + QUICKDRAW RANGEA purposeful range overhaul gives a fuller look to the Wild Country biner selection for 2008 with some important new pieces as wellas technical changes making it the ‘must have’ collection.

There’s a first step into the miniature arena with the awesome new Xenon Lite, under 30 grams but still really usable.A smooth new Keylock nose makes a cleaner finish for the revised Oxygen krabs, new Titan biners and two superb hot forgedscrewgates Titan ll and Synergy Lite.

Finally the ‘Tadpole’ – a neat rubber ring sewn discretely into the revised express slings that holds the clipping karabiner in placebetter. This replaces our o-ring and makes our quickdraws neater, more functional and easier to use.

NEW XENON LITESometimes less is more. And sometimes more is less.

Case in point the awesome new Xenon Lite. Less weight in each biner and each quickdraw means morechance you’ll reach the top. Conversely you could carry more Xenon Lites for the same weight, meaningwhen the chips are down you may just have the extra clip you need. Either way you win.

BCC – BALANCED CORE CONCEPT Choosing the right core construction makes a huge amount ofdifference to rope behaviour. Our yarns are twisted and heattreated in house and then selected to provide a core strandconstruction specific to each rope diameter. Perfecting this‘balance’ for all our styles has been testing, but the effect isobvious as we deliver a solid, perfectly round rope which feelsand handle great from day one.

DCC – DURA-CORE CONSTRUCTIONA “marine finish” lubricant is applied to the core which changes theway it interacts with the sheath, increasing the dynamic propertiesof the finished rope as well as significantly aiding longevity.

SD – SUPER DRY TREATMENTA wet rope may hold less than 50% of the falls held when dry.Complete immersion of the rope in the hydrophilic, siliconebased solution and subsequent heat setting ensures the bestpossible protection against water absorption. Super drytreatment is an important contributor to rope safety andperformance, therefore all Infinity Ropes are offered withthe choice of a Super Dry treatment.

STANDARDS

3~0 THREE SIGMAThe Three Sigma Rating system is a method of StatisticalQuality Control (SQC) which we use to describe, analyse,and control the rated strengths of our products. For eachbatch produced, a statistically representative sample is takenand tested to destruction in accordance with the relevantEuropean Standard for that product and/or our own approvedinternal Quality Assurance Procedures.

These procedures are an integral part of our Quality AssuranceSystem. From the data obtained from destruction testing,the average (or mean) and sample standard deviation (whichis a measure of variance based upon the results obtained)is calculated. 3õ is three times the sample standard deviation.When 3õ is deducted from the mean result obtained, we canpredict the spread of results which would be obtained if wewere to destroy the entire batch (which is why we sampleonly!). We monitor this data closely from batch to batch toensure that the rated strength (as marked on the product)is always less than the mean minus three times the samplestandard deviation. This ensures that the minimum breakingstrength for all products is consistently higher than the ratedstrength as marked on the product.

ISO90012000 QUALITYASSURED FIRMWild Country is registered to International Standard ISO 9001:2000 (Certificate No. C/7545.Q/2678). This is theinternationally-accepted model for Quality AssuranceManagement Systems, which has been adopted in over150 countries worldwide.

UIAA SAFETY LABELThe UIAA Safety Label can be awarded for mountaineeringand climbing equipment that meets the requirements of therelevant UIAA standard. In order to prevent unnecessarymultiplicity of standards, the UIAA standards are based on theEuropean standards (EN standards, also called CEN standards).The EN standards, in turn, are based on the former UIAAstandards, which were the first standards for mountaineeringand climbing equipment in the world. The present UIAAstandards may have higher and/or additional requirementsabove those in the EN standards.

CE CERTIFICATIONWhere required by law (European Union Directive 89/686/EEC -for Personal Protective Equipment). Wild Country products aretype examined, tested and certified.

The organisation responsible for our ISO 9001 Quality Systemand CE marking is Notified Body No. 0120 SGS UK Ltd(202b Worle Parkway, Weston Super Mare, BS22 6WA).
