2006 Safety GroupRebate Formula

• Maximum group rebate of 8% of combined group premium:

• 4% earned for achievement of health & safety elements• 2% earned for improvement to LTI frequency for the

group compared to a three year average (only claims > 7 days)

• 2% earned for improved LTI severity for the group compared to a three year average

• -1% for groups with 10% worse LTI frequency • -1% for groups with 10% worse LTI severity

• $20,000,000.00 Program Cap under review

5-Step to Managing Health & Safety

• To achieve an element a firm must be able to demonstrate:– written standard for the element– means of communication to employees– provided the necessary training – evaluate or have a plan to evaluate– acknowledge success and/or make

improvements

Workplace Assessments

Steps for Completing the Workplace Assessment

• End of Year (Dec 2005) completed the workplace assessment on pages 38 - 57

• go through each element and answer Yes, No, or Maintained for each statement -– Y - the step is complete and current within the last

year– N - you do not have the step in place– M – Maintained: previously completed element

while in the Safety Groups Program

Start of Year:WP Assessment & Action Plan

Each firm must choose 5 health & safety elements from their WP Assessment to implement in 2005: Each group will choose 1 group/common element

that all participants will implement insert group element

Each firm must choose 1 element from Leadership Each firm must choose 1 element from Organization

or Hazard Recognition & Assessment Each firm will choose 2 elements from any of the

categories

Writing the Action Plan

• Identify strengths & weaknesses of the health & safety program from the WP Assessment.

• Elements selected should be implemented for the first time, or:

• Current status documented and the element improved.

• Documentation of all 5 Steps is required to demonstrate completion of an element.

ELEMENTS CAN ONLY BE REPEATED IF,

•Not achieved in prior year, or

•Selected as a group element

Action Plans

• Needs approval from WSIB Consultant.• Firm needs to provide reasons via email to

Sponsor & WSIB Consultant.• May receive approval for requests received before

June 30th in exceptional circumstances, (eg. MOL priority order).
