November 18, 2005  Kristen Miller Nursing Admissions and Enrollment Coordinator CAMPUS  Re: Applicant Jennifer Wolfe  To the Admissions Committee:  Jennifer Wolfe will complete the Post Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) program in December 2005. She has been admitted to the Master of Science program in the Generalist area and now wishes to be considered for the Psychiatric/Mental Health CNS Area of Study. I have known this student since 2004 when she applied for admission to the PBC and I am her academic advisor.  Jennifer Wolfe has been a committed and focused student and clearly a standout among her peers. She has demonstrated time and again that she is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that she and her classmates have accurate, up­to­date information for beginning a career in nursing.  She generously shared her insights and ideas with others.  She is a delightful student with exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal. Her clinical faculty have unanimously evaluated her as outstanding and have identified her as a leader.  Jennifer Wolfe articulated her commitment to a career in the area of psychiatric/mental health nursing from the time she entered the post baccalaureate program. She worked as a psychotherapist in Canada for 6 years after completing a certification program in Toronto. Included among the application materials to the nursing program, was an outstanding recommendation from a colleague in psychotherapy. It is clear that Jennifer is gifted in her ability to work in the field of mental health and she is able to articulate how an education in nursing will enhance her practice.  All of the students do reflective writing during their final semester. Jennifer has written about encounters with persons who are hospitalized due to a mental illness. Her reflective writing is among the best I have been privileged to read in my years as an educator. Her sensitivity, self­awareness, and keen intellect are just some of the attributes that will serve her well as she emerges as a leader in nursing, which she undoubtedly will do.   Jennifer Wolfe has been an exemplary student who maintained a very caring and professional demeanor, was accountable for her actions and demonstrated initiative. She consistently sought out learning opportunities that would help her prepare for her goals of being an excellent nurse and continuing on with further graduate work in Nursing.  Jennifer truly merits an outstanding rating. She has already demonstrated her ability to be an exceedingly successful graduate student (in 2 disciplines!).   Sincerely,
