Ladies and Juniors Day on Saturday. Significant changes to
Club Championship scores. Local fishing hotting up. The Club
loses a Long standing member.
Fishing
Local
The local fishing scene has had something of a resurgence
with better weather, continuing warm water offshore and the
annual salmon run beginning.
Dave Messina got amongst the mahis at the PGFC FAD on
Anzac Day fishing with fellow member Steve Pettenon.
A beautiful day out, very little bird activity but they were lucky
enough to hook onto some small tuna and three mahi mahi.
A reasonable end to what has been a quiet fishing season off
Rottnest.
Ben Weston had a run to
the FADs on Sunday (30th)
and had a similar
experience to Dave with
mahis taking anything, but
preferring live baits.
Ben Punch reported being
smashed up by samsonfish
at the D9 in Cockburn
Sound at the weekend while
trying for snapper on light
tackle, and Tim Carson reports tuna south of Parker Point and confirmed the salmon run has
begun in Cockburn Sound.
Plenty of great options for the Ladies and Juniors day on 5th.

Elsewhere
The Jurien Bay FADs were swarming with
mahi mahi up to 1.3m last weekend, The
crew of Jelomi were treated to some good
catches along with baldchin groper whilst
bringing the boat back to Fremantle.
Vale David Rosenbrock
The Club lost long time member David Rosenbrock last
weekend.
David joined the Club in 1971 and will be remembered
as a passionate fisherman and an all round good bloke.
He fished on many Club boats including skippering Sir
Garrick Agnew’s Pannawonica to Cairns and return no
less than 13 times, including an eastbound trip in 1975
which took just 8 days.
One of the highlights of his life was fishing with Prince
Charles on Pannawonica out of Cairns and angling or
skippering for the capture of many grander marlin
including 22 of Garrick Agnew’s 428 fish.
In recent years David did not enjoy good health and he
passed away just 10 days after his 82nd birthday leaving
no descendents. Many members will remember him
fondly for his companionship and participation in many
Club tournaments and social activities over the years.
Omissions from the last Hook-Up
In the Hook-Up issue of 24th April following
the Shimano WA Open, in the rush to get it
out to members, three images, including
the one on the front page, should have
been attributed to Vince Doran, a
photographer from Jurien Bay, who was
present on Bottom Line for the duration of
the event.
Also missed in the thank you credits was
Past President Tim Carson who did a great
job behind the scenes with organising and
acquiring all the Shimano awards.
Members Dylan Picken and Treasurer
Dave Littlejohn should also have been
recognised for their significant
contribution.
Apologies to all for the oversight.
