N:B:-Dont login using the root user credentials what you have provided during openfiler

installation.

Default username:-openfiler

Default Password:-password

Once after successful login you will get a screen which will be containing all your openfiler

server information

Step-2:Go to volumes tab.If you are opening this for first time you will get a screen like below.

You have to select create new volume group. Then you will get a screen like below.

Step-:lick on disk name !"ere in my case its #dev#sdb$ under !dit Dis" which contains the

free space we are going to use i%%I storage. &ow you will get a screen where you can make

your physical volume.

'rom Partition #ypedropdown menu select Physical volumeand click $reate.It will create a

physical volume.

Step-%:&ow click on &olume 'roupson the right hand side. You will be presented a windowlike below.

"ere give some valid name for the volume group and select the physical volumes shown in the

list in order to add to the volume group. Then click on (dd volume group.

Once volume group creation finishes you can see the volume group listed under volumes tab.

Step-):&ow volume group creation is done(%o we have to configure *+N!Logical UnitNumber$.To do this click on (dd &olume.

"ere give some volume name and slide the slider to allocate space to )*&.hoose ,ilesystemtype asiS$S and click on create.

Step-:&e+t action is to enable i%%I service. 'or this open Services tab. You will find there are

some service listed and have option to disable#enable the services. 'rom here you have to enableiS$S target server %ervice.it will be disabled by default.

Step-/:Once i%%I is enabled we need to share the volume to specific I,#&etworks. To do this

open System tab and on bottom you will find Networ" (ccess $onfiguration. "ere provide thedetails of the %#%i server information and click on update.

N:B:-%ometimes in Networ" (ccess $onfiguration if you will allow only host then the i%%Ivolume may not be shown in storage volumes under v%phere client.To overcome this allow the

whole network as shown in the second rule in Networ" (ccess $onfiguration.

Step-0:&ow you need to configure the i%%I target and allow for the host.To do this goto

&olumestab.On right hand side you will find iS$S #argets.'rom there goto #arget

$onfigurationas shown in figure below.

You will see some long name under #arget 1N.This is going to be your i%%I target

name.lick on (dd to add the target.

Step-:Then go to *+N 3apping and click on 3ap to map the )*& to the i%%I target.

Step-45:&e+t goto Networ" ($*on the same page.You will see the list of network#hostname

present here are similar to what you gave in Networ" (ccess $onfigurationbefore and all willbe denyby default.You have to allow them and click on +pdate.

&ow openfiler configuration is over./e have to attach the storage volume to our %#%iserver.

To do that login to the % #%i server using v%phere client.

Step 6 44:In v%phere client Goto to nventory 7$onfiguration 7 Networ"ing.

&ow you need to add 01kernel to have features like v1otion and "2.To do that click on (dd

Networ"ing.%elect 01kernel and click &e+t.

Step-42:-&ow if you have more than one network adaptor you can create a new virtual switch

but in my case I have only one so I choose use vSwitch5which will handle the network traffic

for 01kernel.lick Ne8tto proceed.

Step-4:'rom the ne+t screen you can choose the options to enable services like 01otion('T

etc. but as we are mainly focused on storage leave those part for now.

Step-4%:%et an I, adress for the 01kernel

lick Ne8t. Then click ,inishto finish the process of creation of 01kernel.

Step-4):Go to $onfiguration #(Band click on Storage (dapters.lick on iS$S Software(dapter.

Step-4:lick on Propertiesof iS$S Software (dapter( then goto 'eneral3 $onfigure andenable the software initiator checkbo+.

Step-4/:Then click on Dynamic Discoverytab.lick on (ddand then put your Openfiler I,

address in iS$S$ Serverfield. In my case the I, is 456.478.4.9.

lick 9and then click $loseto close the ,roperties window.&ow a pop-up will appear torescan all host bus adapter.lick on ;esto rescan.

&ow you can see the storage device by selecting the i%%I adapter as shown below.

Step-40:To create )*& goto $onfiguration3 Storage3 (dd Storage.

Step-4:Once you will click on 2dd %torage you will be prompted as below

lick &e+t.

%elect the i%%I disk and click &e+t.You will be represented the disk layout.

lick &e+t to proceed.&ow you will be prompted to put a datastore name.

Put any datastore name of your choice and clic" Ne8t.

%elect you block sie from the dropdown list and click &e+t.

Now your *+N is ready.$lic" on ,inish.

Step-25:&ow automatically your Openfiler )*& will appear in datastore list.To view this go to$onfiguration7Storage.
